If any of the great composers have a staying power that defies genre and time period, Frédéric Chopin was most certainly one of them. You can find his work being played with cherished delight by any budding pianist, and his music serves as a constant backdrop and mainstay for piano concertos worldwide. But what do we really know about Frédéric Chopin?
A child prodigy, Frédéric Chopin was a transplant from Poland who took the artistic world of Paris by storm. He was never completely at ease in his surroundings, but he took the pain of an eternal outsider and used it as a transformative force not only in his life but in the lives of countless others to come. In this book, you will find the life and legacy of the composer and piano virtuoso Frédéric Chopin explored in full.
The life of Frederic Chopin from early childhood to his death. He was born in Poland, on March 1, 1810, his father was French and his mother was Polish, He was born under the name of Fryderyk Franciszek Chopin. He had an older sister and two younger sisters. Both Mr and Ms Chopin were musically inclined and taught Young Frederic the joys of music. They sent him to a musical school at an early age.
At age seven he was performing at his own concerts. Shortly after writing his own music. Chopin was becoming a rising star. He took Paris by storm with his music. He never gave up his music he always worked hard.
This is short read it completely covered his life, family friends and his love for music. This book also covers his emigration in Paris, with the famous George Sand, his sickness and early death of 39 years old. I enjoyed reading this musical biography of such marvelous person.
"Simplicity is the final achievement. After one has played a vast quantity of notes and more notes, it is simplicity that emerges as the crowning reward of art."-Frédéric Chopin (1810-1849)
Being a fan of classical piano music, Chopin has always been the composer I admire the most as a pure piano artist. This little biography of the composer allowed me to have a glimpse of the life Frédéric Chopin had. It was a joy to read about the early signs of his musical geniuses, his many personal struggles as well as his glorious successes, his rather surprising stage flight, and his enduring struggle with illness, made for compelling reading.
"Chopin is the greatest of them all, for with the piano alone he discovered everything." - Claude Debussy
- Simplicity is the final achievement. After one has played a vast quantity of notes and more notes, it is simplicity that emerges as the crowning reward of art - Frederic Chopin
Frederic Chopin was born to a Frenchman named Nicolas Chopin and his Polish wife, Tekla Justyna Kryzanowska. Although there is some dispute about the actual date, he is generally believed to have been born on March 1, 1810, under the name Fryderyk Franciszek Chopin. He was the second child, preceded by a sister named Ludwika, who was born in 1807, and followed by two younger sisters, Izabela and Emilia.
It was when Frederic was about six months old that the family picked up and moved to Warsaw, so his father could fill a teaching position he had been offered by the Warsaw Lyceum- a secondary school that had been established in 1804. Here the Chopins did their best to provide a good life for their children, and part of this good life involved musical training during their time of leisure. Both Mr. Chopin and Mrs. Chopin were musically inclined and introduced the young Frederic to the joys of music at a young age. Tekla played the piano and Nicolas often accomplished her by playing the violin. It is believed that it was Chopin's mother Tekla who first encouraged Frederic to play the piano and taught him the rudiments of the practice.
This preparation then led to six-year-old Frederic being given formal lessons by a piano tutor named Wojciech Zywny, beginning in 1816. Mr. Zywny, an accomplished pianist himself, is said to have recognized Chopin's talent early on. Rather than bore him with some of the more fundamental precepts of training, he began to indulge his pupil in the work of great composers such as Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart. Chopin immediately fell in love with the style of these master maestros and began to emulate them as much as possible.

Chopin: A Great Musician and Composer That Had A Torched Life
The book concentrated on Chopin’s personal life which was shadowed by poor health and also had a major romantic disappointment. He had very little of a childhood as he was performing at the age of seven. His sole romance was with an woman author using the pseudonym of George Sand and that only lasted for ten years. He died at the young age of 39 but he did accomplish a great deal in his music career.
It is truly sad that three of the greatest composers of all time suffered through out their lives despite the success of their works. All died young of illness that medical science of the time could not treat or reverse. If they had been able to continue on another 30 years or more, there is no telling what they would have accomplished. I guess God does work in mysterious ways for good or bad.
Chopin was a child prodigy on the piano. He lived for music. I found his relationship with George Sand (a woman) fascinating. Unfortunately, he was always sickly and died too young at 39. This 37-page book gives us a good sense of this musical genius whose music lives on.
A fantastic read. I knew the grand maestro , I love his music and now I was able to be part of his live. Worth to read Chopin's short live from Beginning to End for it is well written and so easy to follow.
...But I am grateful for Chopin's life and work. This Hourly History book covers the highlights of his life, helping the reader to understand the angst of his life and creative spirit.
I knew little or nothing about Chopin except maybe his last name. I knew George Sand was a writer, but didn't know what he wrote. Apparently he had a pseudonym and was a female writer.
This was a free Kindle download. Another poorly written, not-too-enlightening story apart from learning that he was friends with a couple classical composer contemporaries. More of an itinerary of travels than anything.
I am a fan of Chopin’s music. I did not know that like Mozart, he was a child prodigy. This concise book covers his life and achievements and I also got a sense of who he was and that made reading the book more interesting.
