Rate this book
Sevyn feels the monster inside him getting stronger each day. With every moment, the numbness grows, and the rage swells. Death is the only salvation he can imagine. He is unable to take his own life, but when he meets Samaira, he sees a warrior worthy of delivering him from his pain.

Craving a life of peace in service to her god, Samaira abandons her bloodthirsty brother, only to meet a bloody-minded stranger with eyes of ice who wants her to kill him! The encounter sends her fleeing through the stars to shake off her suicidal pursuer.

Finally cornered, she proposes a deal; he must give her a chance to cure him as an act of obedience to her God. If she can't, she will kill him before he hurts those he loves. Now, as they work together to trace the scientist who can help him, they realize that there is more between them than a death pact. The salvation they both seek is closer than they realize.

Excellent sci fi romantic adventure

The worldbuilding is grim; this universe is not a happy place. But there are spots of hope in the darkness. The story is excellent with believable main characters and a great supporting cast. The series should be read in order.

This is fourth book in a series about a renegade band of Truppen cybernetic soldiers. It is listed as a sci-fi romance, but I think that it is great classic science fiction. The worldbuilding is excellent and there's plenty of action, which suits ne just fine.
