This is seriously killing me!! I swear, the art style is soooo GOOD!!!

There are sick moments and there are fluffy and really hilarious scenes that I get conflicted on how to actually rate this. I dunno anymore whether to laugh, get angry, or smile hopelessly—augh, who am I kidding? I can't wipe the sickening idiot grin off my face! I'm been giggling the whole time while trying to ease the ache of my throbbing head (yea, I still want to read, what's wrong with me?) I mean, the wholesome scenes are just so delightful. And Rei being Izumi's mother figure is so adorable!

I'm glad I gave Eiki a second chance after loathing her early "Dear Myself" -- this series is much better, and improving as it goes along. All the characters (except the parents) get more depth here, and the main characters seem to be growing in ways that are appropriate for their youth. Ryoma seems much nicer and most of his questionable behavior this time comes across as clueless rather than stalkerish. The scene where he is trying to interpret Izumi's terrible art is really cute.

Izumi for once displays some empathy, considering others for possibly the first time in his life. Its also clear at this point that the manager Rei cares about Izumi's well-being and not just about advancing his career because its his job.

No me pude resistir😳😳

Read my review for Love Stage!! 1 here

3.5/5

I have no idea what to think of this.

At first, Ryouma acts very, very creepily, almost like a stalker and at one point does take advantage of Izumi -- although Ryouma does stop himself. Almost on the exact same page of these, Ryouma and Izumi start being cute together and get closer and closer.

It's hard to see where the author is going with this.

The plot line is a little confusing, and a little complicated. It have no idea where this is meant to be going, and it's a shame, because the first volume, despite a rape scene, which was resolved and dealt with (in both the first volume and this one) was well written and enjoyable so to see the characters getting creepy in this volume is a let down.

The art is well drawn, and it's the art that gained it the 3.5.

I'm not keen on this volume and it's put me off reading volume 3, in all honesty, because I'm uncomfortable with how some of the characters are acting. Suppose there's only one way to find out what's going to happen, though.

---------

I’m back again with another disgusted review. I was reflicking through the whole of this series last night, and I thought that, hey maybe this is how I remember it. Nope. Not at all.

Rape being used as a plot device again.

Let’s see. The male dom almost rapes the male sub, but then within pages they’re being cute together as if nothing actually happened, when the sub was showing severe signs of terror and panic. I can’t stand rape being used like this and then for things to act as if nothing ever happened. Are you kidding me, Eiki Eiki?

Honestly, the amount of times Eiki Eiki uses rape as a plot device in this entire manga (and I’ve only read up to volume four) completely disgusts me. It’s like she’s obsessed with it. I feel so bad for her main character in this.

As a sexual assault victim, I’m utterly and truly disgusted. I’m upset, and I’m angry. Rape isn’t here to be a plot device. It’s not to be used for people to realise they love each other, or that they’re meant to be together or shit like that. Rape is about controlling someone. It is about breaking down people’s walls, obliterating the person behind them, and leaving them a shell of who they are because the rapist wanted control over that person. I’ve gone through this. And I’m meant to sit here and accept the male dom needed to almost rape the sub in order to “get over him”?

Eiki Eiki, find some new plot devices, this is utterly disgusting.

I can't quite place what it was, but something felt really off to me in this volume. Maybe it's the way Izumi acts through the whole thing, being selfish and all? Regardless, I just didn't enjoy my reading experience as much as volume 1, and I kept checking to see how much was left. I might take a break and pick up something else, before continuing into volume 3....

Much funnier than the first volume (Izumi's art was hilarious, poor guy did his best), and I'm so happy that consent plays a bigger role. Excited to read the rest!

I had to laugh out loud at some scenes, I feel like this was a lot better than the first one, and they are making progress in the story. They ended on both of them getting along and starting their little romance. I am looking forward to the rest of the story.

OMG!!! One of the best BL books! :D BL meaning Boys Love, or in Japan, YAOI. One of my favorites! *squeals* I'm currently reading the manga update and it's so effin' funny! :D

The drawing is soooooooo pretty! I really like pretty and cool drawings. One thing that draws me to this manga.

I love Izumi and his geekiness about animes and mangas. He's trying really hard to achieve his goal to be a mangaka. Then he met Ryoma. Oh damn. They are pretty goodlooking couple.

Izumi: *all serious looking asking Rei about BL* Does doing IT with another guy hurt? Or does it not?
Rei: *shocked face* ...
Izumi: *shows off his BL mangas to Rei, serious* Look! In this one, it looks like it really hurts! But then in this one it's like, "OMG it's my first time but it feels soooo good"! So which is the truth?!

LMAO!!! I love his innocence. :D

UPDATE (12.07.2012):
OMG. OMG. OMG. Why such a cliffhanger! What's wrong with all this books! >:( Ending it with a cliffhanger. I want the next chapter! Izumi and Ryouma will finally do it! :P Izumi now realize that he loves Ryouma. Dammit. I'm grinning while reading it earlier. LOL.

I started this because I watched the anime (and that only because of Yonaga Tsubasa~), but I really, really enjoy the artwork and while the story is pretty clichéd and rather generic I really like how the stories of these two artists ALWAYS highlight the performativity of gender even though they might plough trough quite a few horrible BL tropes as well.
