I know what people see when they look at me. I know what they assume. That I'm my kids's nanny. That my husbands are my employers. I don't know why it annoys me, but it does. It activates some primal part of me and makes me want to stake a claim on my place in my family. And what better way to do that, than to get pregnant again?
Besides, trying to get pregnant is great for short-term stress relief and that's just what I need right now.
Things I liked: -There was already an established relationship. -There is a MMF bisexual ménage couple, and we do get to see the two men interact, so yes there is some sword crossing! -The kids were absolutely adorable and I loved the entire family together as a whole. The family you could tell really cared about one another and took care of each other. -Smut was great and on fire. -The writing was amazing, flowed well, and didn’t feel rushed
The one thing I didn’t like: -I didn’t understand Simone’s motivation for having another baby. The only times she wanted a baby was when she was being mistaken for the kids nanny due to their threesome relationship not being public knowledge. It was presented almost as a solution to a problem (the problem being that Simone was being called the nanny by strangers) and I don’t like it when conceiving a baby is being used like that. If it had just been an urge to have another baby because she was ready or whatever then that’s totally fine but the way it was presented left a sour little taste in my mouth.
We readers love when a story/characters are relatable. When we connect with the book. The set up of a closed, poly relationship between two men and one woman probably isn’t relatable for many of us, but these characters - Simone especially - totally are. And isn’t that really the point of great storytelling; giving the reader a unique situation/experience we feel we can understand? The Nanny totally nails this. Explanations and long backstories are unnecessary as we’re shown through actions and dialogue all we need to know to give the story depth and compassion - even beginning with the smartly given title! I didn’t read the synopsis, just trusted the author to give a great story, so this book wasn’t at all what I expected. It was so much better. I read the author’s first book, Roommate, based upon a recommendation in a book group. I’m soooo happy I listened, because I’ve now read two fantastic by an author I’m def now following 💗
This book was everything! I love the relationship all three of them had with each other. I love how Mark and Terrence cared for Simone's happiness before deciding to agree to another baby. I love how they supported her when she was having ehr moments. I loved everything.
This was my first book by this author & I enjoyed the read. I usually go into books blind & read them based on recommendations. This was recommended on tik tok to me. I will be reading more books by this author.
4.5★ A 76 page novella with the most vibrantly written characters. I loved this! Spicy and full of heart. My only gripe was the amount of I-want-more-babies talk but that’s probably just a personal preference cause I don’t ever want kids of my own (ew) 😂 The prose was fantastic. Had a great time reading this.

This isn't at all what I was expecting, and I mean that in the best way possible. I read Brandy Bush's other book The Roommate a few weeks ago and fell head over heels in love with it, immediately desperate to read her other book. The Roommate is an absolutely filthy book and I expected her next book to be much the same, but The Nanny surprised me. Don't get me wrong, there are moments where it is just as filthy as her previous book, even if it is less taboo, but this book as a whole is much sweeter in the best ways possible. It's about halfway through the book before anything even remotely sexy happens but I didn't care because I had instantly fallen in love with the characters and their lives, so when the sex started it was a pleasant addition but honestly if the book hadn't been smutty I don't think it would have diminished it at all. Brandy Bush is now a top tier erotica author for me and I truly cannot wait for their next book.
I enjoyed it - it was hot as hell. But, I just didn't understand Simone's motivations... at all... ever... I also wish there had been more details given about the characters' physical features - we only get haphazard tidbits here and there and not enough to flesh out their full appearance. So I have not idea what any of them look like, and apparently I need to be able to visualize characters in order to fully appreciate their story. But, I can not overstate this, it is hot as hell. And the children are adorable!
Simone was in an unconventional relationship with two men. Everyone thought she was the nanny, until she told them otherwise. Simone thought she had what she wanted until she wanted more. After telling her partners what she wanted, they gave her an option and she decided to take it. I was not expecting this story. But loved every minute of it. Simone got what she wanted, the men were hot and the sex scenes had me fanning. This book was my first by this author and I cant wait to read more!!!
Well I wasn't expecting that but boy was the novella a treat! Polyamorous throuple navigating life, responsibilities, and having quickies. I kinda approve this message!
I was absolutely not expecting this book to go like it did. Very spicy... MMF. Poly - Bi. I did find it annoying that she wanted to have another child for the reason she did. However, I did really like the dynamic of their relationship. They had so much dialogue during spicy time.
"This is another thing I love, the way they look at each other — the way they look at me — when we have sex as if this physical connection is the very tip of the iceberg, and everything under the water is this deep, ancient thing that’s damn near unfathomable. As if we can get close to almost understanding it when we’re touching and tasting and fucking each other."
I was completely invested in this story. This was the healthiest relationship I've read about. They communicated flawlessly, they spoke with their eyes and understood each other without words, they listened with full attention and flat out told each other how ridiculous they were being over a situation and it was great. I love a couple who kindly talk to each other instead of lecturing one another. They unconditionally loved each other and it was lovely to read.
I really don't have anything negative to say about this book♡
I wanted a short, fun story and this absolutely delivers! I had so much fun and smiled throughout this novella. Simone has such fantastic snark and I loved the family dynamics. All sounds a perfect dose of joy!
Reread 9/15/21: gosh, I really do adore this book. I love the family dynamics and the small ways the family is shown to be a strong foundation. Like, this is a sexy short, but more than that it’s full of love and care with how Mark and Terrence support Simone and her education goals, and push her to stay on track. I also love Mark and Terrence’s dynamic. It’s obvious they love each other as much as they love Simone and have their own relationship together as well as their relationships with Simone and as a triad. It’s all so lovely and balanced, and a great short to brighten my day.
This was a real letdown after reading The Roommate by the same author. Still, it's better than a lot of the stuff you can find on Kindle Unlimited.
I like the author's writing style, and how she really brings these kids to life.... The problem is, the kids and domestic life are the focus for the first half of the story. It's well done, but it's not what I expected. Her other story was slow burn and domestic, but there was BURN there amongst the characters. No burn here, heck, the men are barely described physically at all. Hey, it's been a long day, we are already married, and we have to put the kids to bed!
All of the steamy bits suddenly show up in the second half, but the 3 of them wind up having serious relationship discussions during ALL of them. Simone tells them she wants to get pregnant everytime they have sex, and everytime they have to tell her why that's a bad idea. She then proceeds to pout and act like a child. It was REALLY off-putting for me.
Speaking of Simone, I'm pretty sure her name isn't even mentioned until halfway through the story. I went back to the start and skimmed a bit and I didn't see her name.
I'm still in for whatever the author publishes next.
Experience 🤔 wayment!!!! Saw this book on my bookstagram feed @myluvofbooks encouraged me to read it! BUT WAIT!!!! Nobody told me nothing! This book had me so far out of my comfort zone and would not release my attention!
So I stay in my lane and respect everyone’s right to love whom they please, but I am not interested in how they express that love. This book went well beyond my stifled and naive imagination with this threesome. It put a whole different light on polygamy. The story was good and entertaining even though I couldn’t believe it held my interest like it did. And those scenes where 🔥 graphic enough to envision without offense (because it is not my cup of 🍵).
I had to think about this one because I did not want to give it 5 stars which was unfair and biased. (Work in progress) But it is definitely worth it because it shed light on so many perspectives including an alternative lifestyle.
If you have aversion to LGBT literature proceed with caution. Although this story may pleasantly enlighten you.
This book only had 76 pages yet still felt like it dragged on.
I honestly can’t even remember the FMC name. I think it was mentioned once. I don’t think the ages were mentioned but she did read as childish and whiny.
So all in all she’s in a poly relationship/marriage with 2 other men and they have 2 kids together. However, everyone constantly mistakes her for the kids nanny and rather than correcting them (which she isn’t obligated to do) but if it bothers you so much I mean speak up and correct them. So rather than correcting them she feels like the best solution to that problem issssss *drum roll🥁* to have another baby🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃.
P.S. this is not a book about millionaires, billionaires, actual nannies, or even wealthy people per se. They are just average working class people.
I was so amped to read this book but there was no steam until almost halfway through! Not all books need to have me sweating for me to enjoy them but The Nanny underdelivered the whole first half of the book. When the steam started it was great, I just don't know why the pacing felt like two different books. I don't often get to read romance books that start off with the MCs in an established relationship and I was really looking forward to it.
Mrs. Cahill doesn’t know or care, but it’s far from easy getting two kids up, dressed, and fed with an infant attached to your titties.
This had me rolling since the only times I get to read is while I'm pumping and I felt the truth of this line directly in my titties!
Some quality sexy/smutty scenes in this erotica novella. A ménage with a married/committed throuple who have two kids. My only issue was that it took half the novella before there was any even hint of sex on the page. While this is admittedly a short novella, so the wait wasn’t technically that many pages, since it’s erotica I expected there to at least be more build up of sexual tension at least earlier in the story. It admittedly doesn’t help that a lot of that time was spent with kids and I’m not the biggest fan. So this very likely could be a “it’s me, not you” situation. The writing quality is great and the sex is hot.
This is a quick and sensual novella that gives an intimate look into a polyamorous relationship between 2 men and a women who all love and respect each other and have a family together. It really touched my heart and mind to watch our heroine (who this story is told from) grapple with being a mom to her children, being a grad student with a career on the horizon, being a strong and independent black women who people question her relationship to her kids and her partners. She is constantly being looked on as the nanny and she has to explore her feelings around this and how she wants to deal with these types of situations. She and her partners support each other and discuss things as they continue to grow as a family, explore what they want for the future and support each other's dreams and hopes. This was a really lovely look into a supportive and strong relationship that cis people might have difficulty understanding.
The main fmc basically wanted another baby because people thought she was her kids nanny, even though she hasn’t finished her undergraduate degree yet and the whole reason why her 2 husbands and 2 kids are still living in an apartment in the city is because they’re waiting on her to finish so they can move to a suburban area and have a home. Then it’s like you want a baby but can’t even keep up with the stuff you have going on in the moment. Just wasn’t a good read to me and I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone unless they like the idea of people having babies when their life isn’t together🤷🏽♀️
I was in the mood for something short and erotic, and The Nanny fit the bill. This was my first time reading fiction centered on a polyamorous relationship and I think it was a good introduction for me. I only wished that the set up to the erotic parts was shorter. The first half or so of the book concentrated more on the female lead juggling her responsibilities as and feelings about being a mother and graduate student than the actual sexual relationship. Given how short the story was (less than 80 pages), I wanted to spend more time with the throuple.
I can totally understand why Simone felt they way she did and my heart went out to her...no one completely understands poly relationships especially when it comes to kids but she held her own and Mark and Terrance was there every step of the way. Poly relationships are definitely hot and steamy in this read. Its my first read by Katrina Jackson under this pen name and its definitely different from other books of hers that I have read but she's amazing at what she does. Definitely will be reading what's next
Tbh this is a true 3.5 for me🙏🏻 the writing was exquisite, I loved the characters, and I think it struck a great chord in terms of humor. My only beef (small as it is) was that the first 50% of this erotic novella is the heroine ferrying her children around— which I found endearing, but tbh not really looking for kids when I’m reading something like this. But it’s really well written and so I wasn’t bummed. I just wanted more banging!!!
the nanny is short and hot......too short perhaps. it’s incredible how well realized each of the three adults are, even in such a short novella. enjoyable, smutty quick read
3.5 Definitely a palate cleanser for the egregious reading slump I’ve been in. I can’t wait to read the next Brandy Bush while I wait for Katrina Jackson’s new book to be delivered to my doorstep. Sue me but only Amazon can fulfill my urgent reading needs. 🥴🤷🏽♀️😅
Brandy has this impressive way of getting a whole lot of information into the story without it feeling like she’s dumping it all out there. I liked this MMF novella, I just wish it was more.
The concept and storyline had so much potential! This book made me feel like it was building up for something just to fall flat in the end. I thought the books title would have more relation to the book than an insult to the FMC
I had to make myself finish the book. I don’t even remember reading the heroine’s name and her only being addressed as Ms. Gray once. Her thoughts stayed all over the place so it felt like I was reading a lot of rambling and I was really disappointed because I like reading MMF books.
