Roman McNamara is not only the president of the Savage Kings of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina but he’s also the king of one-night stands.
Growing up in a tourist town where there’s a party every night means living up the good life with no commitments to anyone but the MC.
There’s just one woman Roman can’t get off his mind no matter how hard he tries....
Five years ago, Charlotte Newsom’s husband, Adam, died for his country. She hasn’t been able to move past the death of her best friend and soulmate and fears she never will.
When tragedy strikes during a bachelorette weekend, Roman and Charlotte’s paths finally cross in the most unexpected way.
Charlotte has no idea that Roman served in the Marines with her husband, or that he’s been keeping an eye on her for years, all while continuing to keep her husband’s secrets.
While there is a HEA for the couple, the MC's quest for vengeance will continue through the next two books in this series.
Lane Hart is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author. She lives in North Carolina with her husband, D.B. West, and their two children. She loves all things beach related, especially sea turtles, and is a huge fan of the Carolina Panthers.
HOLY GEEZ.....I WANT, NO I NEED MORE!!! Man oh man, Lane and D.B. sure know how to start a new series with a bang! This story draws you in, captivates your attention and holds you hostage until the very end! I couldn't put this book down once I started, it had me on the edge of my seat with anticipation of what was to come with each turn of the page. I can't wait for the next book in this series because I know it will be one helluva ride!
Roman McNamara made a promise to his friend while in the Marines. He kept that promise until he met Charlotte Newsom, she was even more beautiful then he could recall. When her friend goes missing though Roman is furious. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is his town he rules it and to have a woman taken off the streets he wants answers. Charlotte stays in SC to be with her friend, she is leaning on Roman but her feelings for her dead husband are keeping her from moving on. She takes a chance on Roman but what happens when that secret is revealed?
This was a very good beginning to new series. I liked Roman and the fact that he makes mistakes makes him even more wonderful. Charlotte is feisty and makes a perfect match to Roman. Looking forward to the other books in this series.
Yay!! Savage Kings MC spin-off! I L-O-V-E-D it! This is Roman and Charlotte's story and it was sweet and steamy. There was a nice dose of adventure and I absolutely enjoyed it! I can't wait for the next book!
Yeah. We're not starting off too well here with Book One of Savage Kings MC - South Carolina Series. It had an interesting premise, but it just went all wrong. There was too much focus on the trafficking aspect and not enough on the relationship. And then, there's something at the end that we find out about Roman that just kind of shut me off to the whole story. I'm just like, "Nope." It went from an interesting, "I'll look out for my buddy's wife," to "I'm a creep." Yeah. I just couldn't.
Roman promised his friend, Adam, that he would look after his wife if something should happen to him when they were overseas in the military together. Unfortunately, Adam did die, but along with his death, a terrible secret is held by Roman. He keeps it to himself, knowing that it would wreck Charlotte, the now widow. After five years, Charlotte goes to the beach for a bachelorette vacay. She runs into Roman in an...interesting way. But tragedy strikes again, and they must work together to help Charlotte's friend. Roman and Charlotte grow close, but Charlotte is still hung up on her dead husband. Will she be able to let go in order to have a real relationship with this hot biker? Will Roman be able to keep Adam's secret? Or will everything need to come out in order to allow Charlotte to get over her husband?
If the authors had kept with the main story of Roman and Charlotte, it probably would have been better. They spent a ton of time apart--Roman working on the traffickers and Charlotte with her friend. So when Roman was like, "I want this woman forever," sort of thing, I'm like...Why? You've spent like two seconds with her. lol Okay, he was stalking her for five years, but still. Apparently he was fine with Anyhow, I'm hoping the series gets better. The last one started out REALLY rocky too, so we'll see.
Two people apparently wrote this and it somehow still managed to have a horrible heroine. She was mean, snippy, a major B word and not very bright. Her friend gets admitted to a rehab center and when everyone’s going to leave she exclaims that she’s staying. Umm Charlotte you’re not the patient, where did you plan to stay exactly and how do you think that’s even possible unless you were a patient at the rehab? At fifty percent you still don’t know anything about Charlotte besides her bad attitude. No idea what town she’s from, what she does for work, hobbies....nothing. There’s not magic.
Thank you to Lane Hart and D.B. West for allowing me to listen to a copy of this book. This book did not hold back on the punches. The very beginning had me thinking that I was not going to like this, due to what Charlotte's Husband did. However, I still enjoyed the romance within the story. It really encompassed the way that fate works its wonders, whether it seems like it's a wonder or not. This book had me crying, angry, and made me want a love like Roman and Charlotte's. But definitely look up the trigger warnings for this book, if you are interested in reading it.
This book imo has very realistic things that happen. It's not the event's that hapoen, but now they are reacted to that will have you swooning!
Roman is not like your typical Alpha. Charlotte, well she's hurting and I get that. I felt for her with everything that happens.
In the end, can they be together? Do they want to be together? There is only one way to answer the questions and that is to buy or borrow this book, but I promise you won't be disappointed!
As per normal with book like these there are two stories going revolving around each other. The relationship was a little to easy for me especially with what was going on around them but the characters were great I just feel that they needed more of a story. The series story has some triggers but it is building up to be a great story but you need to read the next books to find out what happens. From what you see off the other characters I think it will keep you reading and hopefully more of MC will come out in them as this book was light on that. Well written and an easy read especially if you want to try an MC but don’t want to dive right the harder stuff.
I chose this rating because I LOVED the originals! This is such a disappointment. What MC president allows someone to continue to barge into Church! Also, is this a romance? I hope the next book is better!
There were very good premises for a really good story in the prologue (five years ago) .. but then the "five years later" was really disappointing. I have not felt any connection with Charlotte, who has lived for 5 years with the ghost of her husband, “her soul mate”, “her first and only love”…..and then in the 4 days following a dramatic event, she kisses, has sexual acts and sleeps with Roman. Besides leaving me really confused about her personality and emotional changes, Charlotte has bored and annoyed me throughout the book with her air of holding all truth, about what's best for Tessa, about love, about Roman, about her husband ... what a nuisance! As for Roman, it is from the prologue that we understand that there is an interest in Charlotte, initially sexual and then romantic after meeting her personally. Some attitudes may not be liked but I don't see how Charlotte can take it out on him even when things happen well before their meeting. I also understand why he tells her something during a fight because there is a limit to Charlotte's endurance and her mystification of Adam. Declarations of love on both sides devoid of feeling.Zero chemistry between Roman and Charlotte. In my opinion, Charlotte confuses sex with love otherwise the rapid change of feelings cannot be explained !! Personally, I liked the other guys from MC and Tessa more than the main characters! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
ROMAN is the first instalment in the contemporary adult SAVAGE KINGS MC-South Carolina erotic, MC romance series co-authored by Lane Hart and DB West. This is Savage Kings MC –South Carolina President Roman McNamara, and Charlotte Newsom’s story line.
NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be some triggers for more sensitive readers.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Roman and Charlotte) ROMAN follows the building relationship between Savage Kings MC –South Carolina President Roman McNamara and Charlotte Newsom. Five years earlier Charlotte lost her husband Adam to a helicopter crash in Afghanistan. Fast forward to present day wherein Charlotte and her friends are spending a week in Myrtle Beach as part of a bachelorette party for their friend Tessa. A nuisance call to Roman McNamara, co-owner of the beach house where the party is underway, finds our hero mistaken for the hired stripper, a mistake that brings Roman face to face with his late friend’s wife Charlotte. A series of kidnappings and rapes against several women in the Myrtle Beach area pulls Roman and the Savage Kings MC into a search for the people responsible, responsible for hurting Charlotte’s friend Tessa, and at least three other women that they know. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Charlotte and Roman, and the fall-out as Roman reveals a secret that he promised to keep from Adam’s wife.
Charlotte Newsom believes in soul mates, and believes her soul mate is dead and gone. Meeting Roman McNamara gives Charlotte a hope for a second chance but with it comes the guilt and heart break of a loss she is unable to comprehend. Roman McNamara knows the secrets Adam Newsom took to the grave but Roman promised to never reveal the truth about what happened years before. With Charlotte on the verge of leaving Myrtle Beach, Roman struggles to reveal Adam’s secrets in an effort to open Charlotte’s eyes to the truth about the man with whom she was once in love.
The relationship between Charlotte and Roman is one of immediate attraction but a case of mistaken identity. An invite from Roman to meet him at Fluid, the Savage Kings MC nightclub, finds Charlotte and her friends enjoying another night on the town but when their friend go missing, Charlotte finds herself pulled into the web that is Roman McNamara. Feelings of guilt and pain follow Charlotte with every encounter until Roman is unable to keep secret the truth about the man that she loved. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and seductive.
We are introduced to the members of the Savage Kings MC –South Carolina branch: Verek, Winston, Conrad, Hugo and Cannon; Charlotte’s friend Tessa, and Tessa’s fiancé Paul.
ROMAN is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and heart break, second chances, relationships, survival and love. The premise is edgy and tragic; the romance is provocative and intense; the characters are edgy and energetic.
My New Favorite MC...You'll be hooked from the first pages
First time reading a book from these authors and I loved it.There are so very few books that will suck you in from the get go...this is one of those books. The first chapter has me saying dang...I did not see that coming. I like that it gets to the point and doesn't linger...but yet doesnt feel rushed. In this story you have Roman/President to the Savage Kings SC chapter. His friend Adam passes away while serving in Afganistan together. Roman takes it upon himself to care for Adam's widow at a distance. Fate steps in when Charlotte and her friends are in town for a bachelorette party...where Roman is accidentally mistaken for the male stripper 😂. Love the funny scenes in this book. Roman has fallen for his friends widow and ends up helping her and her friend when a kidnapping occurs. I love that this is MC club is a bit different than others we have read in other books. There are no club whores mentioned which is nice...that doesn't mean that the men are known for having thier choice of women. Although they are tough...they all seem to be very sweet, understanding caring men. There was 1 thing that bugged me though..
WARNING SPOILER BELOW
So Adam had a mistress while serving and got her pregnant..but died before the baby was born. This is not what bothers me since he is not the hero in this story. Roman has not only taken care of Charlotte( widow) without her knowing..but has been sending $ to Adam's son since his dad is now dead...that's fine I understand. What dis piss me off was that at the begging of the story when Adam shows Roman a picture of both women Roman says how could Adam even look at Meridith ( mistress) when he had a smoking hot wife ( Charolette) but them when the truth comes out and Roman tell Charlotte about the mistress and love child...Charlotte asks Roman if he has ever slept with Meridith ( mistress) ..and Roman tell her yes once when he went to Aiden ( Adam's son) 1st birthday party..that it meant nothing. Like how the hell do u think that makes Charolette feel that not only her dead husband slept with Merideth but so did Roman...even thought Roman basically fell for Charolette when he first saw her picture. When Charlotte confronts Meridith about the affair she goes on to say Roman is such a wonderful man who has helped her financially tale care of her son...that he's such a nice guy that he didn't even turn her away when she threw herself at him at her sons bday party 4 years ago. I know it was 4 years prior to him meeting Charolette but it still seemed like a slap in the face especially when he gave Adam so much crap for sleeping with Meridith when he could have Charolette. If Roman wouldn't have done that..this book for me would have been perfect. But I still really loved this book...looking forward to the next books in this series.
The prologue- perfect! It really grabbed me and I couldn’t wait to dive in some more. This story has moments where I truly teared up as there were a couple of tough subjects that really hit me in the feelings department. I love when a story can get me emotional and truly feel it. I also had plenty of laughs as well.
Roman definitely didn’t act like I was expecting- and he really got me in chapter 1. That was surprisingly unexpected and I liked that it threw me for a loop and pissed me off at the same time. Mostly because I came into this story with certain expectations for him. He definitely kept me on my toes and wasn’t a flowery hearts kind of man. There are points in the story where he made me mad - like how he talks harsh to Charolette especially while in his clubhouse. Also, when tells her some things and admits to something that I wish hadn’t been the case. It didn’t make me feel like there was anything special for him and Charlotte after that.
As for Charlotte- she was living with a ghost of her dead husband. She couldn’t see past her grieving to move on. I felt for her - and in the end, I was glad she did what she did and I cried for her when she did it. But I didn’t like how she ended up in the end, with little grieving of the man she thought she knew and love to the new guy, Roman. She forgave and gave in too fast. I needed there to be down time and to truly let go of the pass properly.
As for the chemistry of the couple- I didn’t feel it properly so when they basically say in their own way that they love each other- I couldn’t buy it or feel it. Roman may have watched over Charlotte all these years- and maybe wanted to screw her, but none of his actions showed or proved he loved her to me.
I liked the storyline with one of Charlotte’s friends. I just wished we had better action there- and making it feel more like it was intense and a priority because after a while that intensity fell to the side for the romance portion. So I look forward to Verek’s story to get more of a storyline & closure for this portion of the story.
Overall, I enjoyed the story- loved the idea of the storyline- enjoyed meeting this cast of characters, and I really loved meeting Verek. I also liked that this MC didn’t feel like the regular run of the mill MC bikers I’m used to, and I’ve read over 500 biker stories!! So, this was refreshing.
Roman was a man a woman could rely on! by sewsummore
After the death of his army buddy, Roman did all he could to help the women he left behind. One of them was Charlotte, the wife he loved very much and the other was Meredith, his lover and the mother of his child who he also loved very much. For years he had helped both women never betraying the truth about the man both women loved. It was five years later that Roman met Charlotte for the first time. Charlotte had invited four of her friends to stay for the weekend in the holiday house she thought her dead husband had booked for the same time each year before he died. In reality, it was Roman who had done the organized and paid for the rental. Their meeting was unexpected, but welcome when one of her friends is kidnapped and raped. It was Roman who organized the search and his friends who found the woman. He was her rock throughout that terrible time. During the time they spent together, heir relationship blossomed into love. I was captivated by this story. Roman was a man a woman could rely on, and honest caring, it was no wonder Charlotte fell in love with him.

No my first by these authors, but, will be my last. While their editor is better than most - their plot lines, character development and way of telling a story leave a lot to be desired. Keep in mind, this is my personal opinion. Yours may be different and you may like their books. ☆ - D.N.F. ☆☆ - Did not like. Always has MAJOR skimming and jumping of lines, paragraphs, pages and sometimes chapters. But, I did finish this book. ☆☆☆ - Eh . . So So. Read worse but definitely better. Will not read again. ☆☆☆☆ - Liked the authors way of developing a plot and characters. The book was able to draw me into its world. The rhythm of the book was natural and had an organic feel of unfolding its story that felt right and not forced. Will read something else by this author(s). ☆☆☆☆☆ - 💖 this book. Was drawn into its world and identified with its characters. The plot was able to run me through the gamut of emotions. I will read this book, or books if its a series, again. Will either buy right away or it will be put on my to buy list. I will definitely read other books by this author.
This is the first book in the spinoff series of the Savage Kings. This is an extremely slow burn book. Roman is retired army and the president of the South Carolina chapter. Charlotte is the widow of his army brother and he has kept an eye on her since his death. While on a bachelorette party weekend one of Charlottes friends is kidnapped. Of course Roman and the kings step in to help. While trying to locate her friend and find the kidnappers Charlotte develops feeling for Roman but feels disloyal to her dead husband. This was reiterated over and over. While the writing was good and I enjoyed to story line I just didn’t care for Charlotte much. I loved Roman however. The story does not end on a cliffhanger but there are unresolved issues that I’m sure will be ongoing in the series which I will definitely read. I wish I could give more stars but it a solid 3 1/2 stars for me.
Okay the book is Awesome though due to personal season's I have problems with part of the ending . I wouldn't be able to except Roman having a friendship with Adams mistress . Send money for Adams kid but personal contact I couldn't take especial as Roman had had sex with her .
I liked this book. The story was well written and flowed beautifully. The characters were well defined within the story and they had such great chemistry. I loved the ending. If you like the works of this wonderful author, then this book is a must-read.
Charlotte is a young widow, losing her husband in Afghanistan. He was her soulmate and she finds it hard to let go. She is hosting a Bachelorette party for her good friend.
Roman is the President of a local MC that has various businesses and properties in town. He "meets" Charlotte because she and her friends have rented a property for a week from him. A noise complaint brings him over to the property where the ladies think he is the stripper they hired...so what the hell, Roman doesn't disappoint!
He invites Charlotte and her friends over to the MC's club the next night, she goes but is mad about him lying about being a stripper. The other ladies just want to party! Tragedy strikes when one of the ladies is abducted while walking outside the club. Roman vows to find her...
She is found but is brutalized and raped. It is decided she will go into a local secure facility for a month to get the intense counseling she needs. In the meantime, the MC is searching for the abductors who also brutalized 4 other woman.
Can Roman convince Charlotte to start living again? Will the abductors be found?
Charlotte has really closed her heart and is very lonely and feels it even more after meeting Roman. Roman actually served with her husband but is very vague when she asks about it. She is no shrinking violet though, she has no problem expressing her opinions.
Roman and Charlotte really are very compatible but where will this lead?
This is the first book I’ve read by these authors. I may try 1 more in the first savage mc series. However sometimes you just know after reading a book that the author isn’t your style. I don’t think these authors are going to be for me. The way Adam so casually talks about multiple soul mates, what a crock!
I ended up not really liking any of the major characters in this book. The premise started so good. I even liked the MMC at first. I was hesitant because he did choose to keep his friend’s secret which once he’s dead I feel like someone should’ve told the wife her husband had a pregnant mistress. It just kept getting worse. I was out and skimmed the rest of the way as soon as the MMC said he also slept with the mistress. Done! So he supposedly was so infatuated with the FMC from the moment he saw her picture and then accidentally fell into bed with the mistress?? I’m shocked a cheating man didn’t write this book because the authors really expected the “I didn’t mean to sleep with her” to be sufficient reasoning. Why did that even need to be in the book? Also the FMC goes right back to the MMC after meeting the mistress. I would NEVER be with someone who slept with my ex’s mistress KNOWING she was his mistress. Then she is going to start a life with him while he talks to the mistress regularly, and sends thousands of dollars a month to the mistress and the kid?! Also the whole MC vibe was off and I didn’t really get attached to the mc or the members.

I struggled to read this one. Nut grief or trauma.
I can’t decide what to say about this book. In parts it was really good, but it’s really badly written in others.
Charlottes dead husband was in the forces with Roman. Every year she goes to stay at the beach house that belongs to the Mc, on her wedding anniversary. Unbeknown to her Roman is watching out for her, and has had feelings for her for years. This time she takes her friends, for her best friends bachelorette weekend. When something really bad happens to her best friend, Roman and his Mc help them.
This is where it really annoyed me. The best friend went through something really awful, and the author writes about it in a really light fluffy way. She wouldn’t be sat reading romance books or talking about sex!!!
Charlotte is the 2nd issue. Roman let’s her stay at his house for a month, and of course they start having sex. Charlotte basically uses Roman for sex as she’s lost her ‘soulmate.’ I know she truly loved her husband but the way that she treats Roman isn’t good. She’s either ready for a relationship or she isn’t.
The 3rd issue is Roman and his Mc. He lets Charlotte sit in church meetings, and she bosses him around in front of his Mc brothers. He doesn’t act like a prez. In fact the whole club doesn’t seem like a proper Mc.
Cat’s Stats MMC/FMC- Roman and Charlotte Meet Cute? She’s the widow of his friend and brother-in-arms. POV- 1st person dual Genre- MC Romance Lite (not a lite book, but lite on the MC part) Heat- 🌋🌋🌋 Slow burn to bunnies Series? Y Safety: this is tough to decide. There is cheating, but not by MMC or FMC. There is off page S.A., but not done to or by MMC/FMC. OW drama from the past. However, there’s no sharing and no cliffhanger. HEA/HFN? Y Triggers- discussion of and aftermath of S.A. of secondary character, language, explicit erotic content, violence. Tropes- Mistaken Identity, Deceased Friend’s Widow, Magic Mike Moment, Forced Proximity.
Narration Review The narrators don’t exactly set the world on fire, but they are competent actors and their voices are pleasant and easy to understand.
Story Review What I liked- Roman ♥️. He was a tough, biker club President. He was also thoughtful and patient. And kind. And he was incredibly hot. I’d describe him as an Alpha Male with a Cinnamon Roll heart for the ones he cared about. What I didn’t- at times I found Charlotte annoying. And I’m not sure how realistic it is that she would get over being betrayed that quickly. Verdict- enjoyable.

This was an ok book. This story never really ended and left it wide open in a cliffhanger type of way.
Unfortunately it didn’t grab my attention well enough for me to want to continue reading the series, especially after having read the blurb on the next book. Stepsister/stepbrother romance is so not my thing.
I wished Verek’s book would’ve been next instead of what is coming in book 2 so... I’m out.
Wouldn’t recommend only because I kinda got tired of Charlotte. Her unwillingness to let go of her dead husband, the way she acted all mad when she crashed into church and then just, I don’t know, fell flat and gave in because of what he was doing to her. She had no backbone there and I thought she’d stand up for Tessa and the girls but she caved so quickly. So disappointed there and almost stopped reading right there.
Also...the story never really ended. They’re still looking... then I read the blurb for book 2 and decided I was out.
On the plus side? It was edited really well with very few mistakes and it flowed pretty well. Just the characters and upcoming storylines are not the greatest in my book.
loved the first book in this series, (i am adding this to my review of Roman, I read Winton as well, going to start Verek next, and i really sad that Winston's book didn't jive for me, he was hot, that book cover, was smoking!! no kidding. he is sexy, but??!) Roman ...it worked and moved so smoothly through the story ...not that it is was a happy subject matter or point but i enjoyed it. this one was not smooth and felt off ... i mean i wanted to love Winston and the point ...don't wanna give it away ...and it was not that that didn't work ...it was like the story didn't flow as well??! thinky face??! i was figuring from the first book that Verek would be next considering he is Roman's right hand man??! i wonder??! any who ... i am skipping a lot of this book and finishing it how i want it and going on to Verek instead. a reader can do that ...figure the author had a oops moment in my book. but hey ... we all can not agree on everything i guess ... next!! it will be better i know it.
I'm a little torn on my rating for this. It's my first read from the authors and I fully intend on reading more. The plot is good and moves along quickly and easily. I laughed a few times and feel like the harder topics were handled with delicacy.
I enjoyed the hero quite a bit. He felt human and his responses were real and logical. However, my issue comes in with the FMC. I truly disliked her from start to finish. I never warmed up to her and she brought this down for me a lot. It's one thing for the FMC to be strong and even brash sometimes but this one was nothing but a pill. Her outbursts were annoying, she was so stubborn that I would have walked away from her. To me, it seemed like the hero stayed with her and dealt with her crappy personality just because she was beautiful. It was all based on looks and lust.
I am looking forward to reading more in this series and others though. I do like the author's writing, and I really like the men that were introduced in this book.
