Tragedy reigns and Billy finds himself torn between keeping his promise to Attie or leaving two bloodthirsty outlaws to run loose on the frontier. Another outstanding western masterpiece by one of the most compelling authors of realistic old West adventures. A fast moving series of unending excitement, as Billy seeks revenge for the loss of his dearest friend!
Definitely another five star masterpiece of heartwarming adventures that immediately reaches out and grabs your undivided attention from beginning to end, as Billy pulls no punches in retaliation for the loss of his adoptive father-in-law. The author's outstanding selection of storylines are unsurpassed in their efforts to entertain the reader's undivided attention from beginning to end. Too, his character selections certainly were effectively selected for their commanding assignments throughout the entire story. This is a family-friendly accounting of how I have perceived our old American West was probably tamed, and the Author's descriptive rendition of gunfighting was perfectly selected from beginning to end! I too, believe that justice being served is the appropriate decision and saves the Courts a lot of time for more appropriate measures! Most definitely recommend this facinatingly impressive western folklore masterpiece to all readers, but especially to you western addicted fanatics will definitely be as overwhelmingly impressed as I was. There is one exciting episode after the other, and even you non-western fanatics will find yourselves completely engrossed within the first few pages of this family-friendly accounting of realistic western folklore adventures! Try it! You'll love it!!!😃
I bought an omnibus collection of 21 Orris Slade novels for less than 2 dollars (Canadian) so how come these books be any good? And who the hell is Orris Slade? His he a real person or a house name (please let me know if you have the answer)? At first I started the read the sample of this massive omnibus and low and behold I could not stop reading. I could literally be reading a thousand other books in the western genre from reputable authors, but I read Billy's Back from the mysterious Orris Slade and could not be happier for it. The story is very good, the pacing is perfect and the writing style is easy-to-read and flows very smoothly. It felt like one of those "matiné" western movie where the good guys wear white hats and the bad guys wear black hats and sometime this is exactly the type of traditional western one needs. Orris Slade (whom ever he is) posses very good storytelling skills and has kept me entertained for the duration of Billy's story. Nothing too deep here, just a plain old good cowboy story well told.
Billy McGowan was more than ready to have a place to hang his hat for more than one night at a time. He was ready for a place to call his own, and more than that, he was ready for a family to go with it. He was giving up being a bounty hunter to be a family man, a rancher. Now if people will just forget who he was and let him start fresh with who he wants to be everything will be fine and maybe , as long as his family is safe, Billy McGowan will face away, forever gone.
This was a pretty good read that could have been better if just a it longer. The story was a good one but took just a little too much for granted, unless there was a previous story that I missed.
Not losing yourself in the mix. Some things are needed, just not all the time. Defiantly when murder and kidnapping happen though. Highly recommended for all readers.
This is one of the great reads, I fully enjoyed it and recommend it to all western readers. Please follow this book with another great read, thank you.
