I originally set this book at 5 stars, because it is the book that originally got me interested in Urban Homesteading. maybe when I re-read this again in 6 months it's rating will go back up. The book is technical, a bit dry and very politicaly charged. It has excellent material on different methods of accomplishing a variety of tasks in self-sufficiency, but the political rhetoric as well as the dry tone makes it hard to use as much more than a resource guide.
I have to say though, it is thorough, low-tech and spot on. Many of the methods outlined in other books and web-sites can be traced back to core principles outlined in this book, except they have the advantage of near forty years of science and research that this book did not at the time of it's printing.
