Cruel Devils

Rate this book
My parent’s brutal murder threatened to ruin my life.

According to my aunt and uncle, I should be thrilled to be at Meyer’s Grove.

But the devils, Asher, Parker, Luca, and Caspian, don’t agree.
They’re vicious. Relentless. Filthy rich.
And they’re not going to stop until I’m ready to quit.

I have to survive Meyer’s Grove.
For my future.
For the memory of my parents.

But that means I have to survive the devils.
They’re dangerous, and they play games that I didn’t know existed.

There’s just one thing that the devils don’t know –
When you lose everything, then you’re no longer afraid.

I’ve lost it all.
The devils can do what they want.
They can’t take this from me, too.

Cruel Devils is book one of a reverse harem, high school bully romance. It contains dark themes, cursing, and sexual situations.

Nothing other than some mean bullying, which definitely is my jam, happened in this book. Some body betraying lust, which is also my jam, happened, but no sex whatsoever. So there is this backdrop of something larger than all of them happening, some secret society games across powerful families, an attempt at thriller / suspense but a reverse harem love story? No. Of course, I have to know how this plays out, if they get together. I do wish there had been a warning — beware: clean romance. Not cool, not cool.

Best example of bully done wrong

So many issues here. So. Many. I wish I hadn't wasted my time on this book so I'm not gonna waste much time on this review. It. Was. Bad. Very, very bad. It was basically page after page after page of the h being physically, verbally and mentally assaulted and literally in the next breath from them hurting her (in several instances physically hurting her) she's saying how much she wants them. She is supposedly from a good family life, so this makes zero sense. Zero. There is some convoluted ulterior secret motives going on that are alluded to as an excuse for the behaviour. I don't care. I cannot read anymore I dont know why I want him so much give seconds after being tortured and with zero buildup between the characters.

Did no one do even a single run-through read on this??? The grammatical errors are everywhere, and maybe I read a different version of Romeo and Juliet than everyone else, but I'm pretty sure that Juliet killed herself by stabbing herself with Romeo's dagger, NOT by "chugging down poison like it was the best thing she ever tasted" like the author references it in this *side-eye*"book".

I'm almost offended that this tried to get passed off as a finished book.

After Kiera's parents are brutally murdered she is shipped off to live with her Aunt & Uncle in Hawaii. Her extended family doesn't want to have a relationship with her and enrolls her to attend Meyer's Grove Prep for her remaining years in High School, with the caveat of being the perfect representation of her Uncle and heir. Upon her arrival she is bullied by the "Devils" of the school in an attempt to get her to leave. As time goes by the attraction the Devils and Kiera have grow along with the bullying. It all comes to a head with a revealing secret from her so called friends and the Devils. Near the end of the book Kiera finally gets the nerve to enact a little revenge for all the hurt caused. While I did enjoy the plot twist to the story leaving it with a cliffhanger. I would have hoped the heroine would be a little less naive. The book flows well and characters are well written. I am excited to see how the boys keep Kiera out of harms way and deal with the perps.

Interesting but not sure about this new series yet

Cruel Devils is the first book in the Devils of Meyer's Grove series which is a RH High School story. I am on the fence with the book. I like RH stories when they are done really well but found it hard with this book as it is woven with a really bad bully and teenager angst story. I first read this Mae Doyle with her Torenti Mafia series so this is quite a different turn from that. I am not sure if I like it or not, even though it was well written. I am going to wait to reserve my judgement until after the next book in this series to see what happens between Kiera, Asher, Caspian, Luca and Parker and how their "relationship" progresses.

Wowsers....what did i just read?? I literally couldn't put it down! This is bully romance at its best, I loved 'the devils'......four super hot alpha bad boys. I sense so many secrets still to be discovered in this series, but really Mae how can you leave us with that ending??? Gutted because i now have to wait for the next book and I so need to know what's happening. I liked Kiera, but I wish she would have stood up to her awful aunt and uncle a bit more! Can't wait to see what happens....highly recommend!

This is the first book in a new series and it did not disappoint. It was well written, interesting and entertaining throughout. With creative characters, plenty of bullying-teasing with the heroine being totally confused about how she could could possibly be attracted to four gorgeous young men, hellbent on making her life miserable. But she’s feisty and fights back, something I love about Mae’s main characters. They stick up for themselves no matter the cost. An excellent start to what is no doubt going to be a superb series.

Cruel devils has my interest

I really enjoyed this one by Mae. I will say I'm still disappointed that her female charcters are so weak. Don't have a back bone. They bully you and immediately you like them? Like these guys have literally bullied her to no end and all she could come up with is itching powder? Then when they confront her about it she apologizes. It's like fighter harder already!! I will
Say though out of all the harems I have read. Luca, asher, Parker and Cap are my favorite. Each of them possess a dark, raw, gritty, intense love for her it's obvious. Can't wait to read the second book

And her life begins again. This was a great read , the drama, and betrayal I highly reccommend it

I truly loved this first book in the series and I have a feeling this series will be unforgettable. It all starts with a girl who loses her mom and dad in a brutal murder. Then she’s thrown into a life she doesn’t know anything about. This new life isn’t what she wants it expects especially when everyone seems to want her gone. But she is tough and she ain’t backing down without a fight. I’m excited for the next book and what it might bring.

Has potential

I enjoy a good bully RH and this has potential. I really think the story line could be interesting, but the characters fell flat to me. The main female character falls for the male characters for no other reason than they are "hot." There is not much character development that gets you to understand or like the boys. They treat her awful, but all she does is say to herself how hot they are. She goes from innocent never been kisses to being forcefully kissed and liking it. Going to read book two in hopes for more depth from the characters.

Fabulous!

I loved this mesmerizing story and the got, conflicted
characters. The mystery is enticing and addictive.
Cannot wait for the next part of this story and if our heroine teams up with her sexy tormentors.
A crazy good story that you want to never end. More, more, more ... Amazing!!!

Meh

I don’t read RH for realism, definitely not. But the one thing I won’t waver on, ever, in a bully romance is the apology and groveling. There was none. This definitely had the potential to be great, but it missed the mark. The plot was there, but the follow through was lacking.

I found this book interesting and engaging with characters that are well developed and engaging and the chemistry is intense. Will they survive what’s coming t them? The flow of the storyline kept me hooked from the start.

Great read

I absolutely love this storyline. It keeps you on your toes from the start. I can’t wait to read Her Devils. I’m about to start it right now.
The only reason I gave 4 stars opposed to one is because there were quite a few typos. None that totally threw you off or were really hard to get the gist of, but some were confusing.
All in all, it was a great book.

Not good!

This was badly written with lots of mistakes!
Some parts seemed like they’d been copied & pasted right out of other books!
The storyline was basic & the bullies had no redeemable feathers other than their looks!

The bullying started without reason and was too much. I mean if you meet someone and their parents were murdered a few days ago, would you be sooo mean??
And then it finishes on a cliffhanger!!

It’s sad when books portray abuse as love, it sets a bad example for young readers, young girls believe that being treated the way that this character was is OK.
