Another little step in the Campus Cravings soap opera. We just knew that Charlie, the supervisor of the all gay KB dorm, and Jack, the retired Marine and now cook, were lovers. And we also knew that, after an hot encounter on the kitchen table, Jack disappeared.

Now Jack is come back, with a fifteen years old son! And Charlie doesn't know if he is ready to be a lover AND a stepfather... plus Charlie has the impression that Jack is ashamed of him: they go pretty well on bed (and actually on any other surfaces) but Jack never once asked Charlie out. And Charlie has had the same experience in the past, with his family, a family ashamed of a blind son... or not? Since Charlie, who was always convinced to be a pure African American man, discovers thanks to Jack, that maybe this is not the real story: green eyes and straight hair don't match good with a pureblood African American. And so Charlie finds out that there is a secret in his past and he needs to go back to Los Angeles to investigate; he also needs Jack's support, but the man can't leave his newfound son alone...

As always, in a Carol Lynne's book, there is a lot of sex, a free enjoyment of life and a big social issue; in this case it's the relationship between a blind man and his lover, but also between a single gay father and his lover. Both problems are dealt with a light hand, not much angst in this story, but as always it's rather enjoyable. And as always we have the chance to meet the next heroes in the series, Theron (the last "straight" standing on the Demakis brothers) and Michael.

Hohoho... Fianlly I get to see Charlie and Jack together. I knew they will end together.

First we have Charlie, who is the manager at BK House and besides the fact that he can't see he does amazingly well in everyting; but as always he have some serious complex when it comes to relationships.

Then we have Jack, who is the housekeeper and cook at BK House; during the previous book we know that Jack left for some reason he didn't tell anyone, but now he is back and with a son name Brian.

During the story, Charlie finds out that the woman he thought was her mother wasn't, and later on he finds his biological mother who didn't want him in her life. Jack is struggling between Charlie and Brian, both of them need him at the same time and Jack doesn't know what to do anymore.

After some time and thinking and accepting the reality, Jack, Charlie and Brian form a family and have their HEA.

I really really love this book, it was so heart warming. I love both Mc, they are so alike and so different at the same time; but Charlie is so sweet with Jack and so is Jack with Charlie, that you just fall in love with them.

Hershie’s Kiss by Carol Lynne is book ten in her Campus Cravings series. I must admit that while I love Carol’s Cattle Valley series, I hadn’t read any of the Campus Cravings novels. One page into Hershie’s Kiss and I was hooked.
Charlie is blind and sensitive; he’s been rejected and hurt too many times. Jack is a tough ex-Marine dealing with his own set of problems. Watching them come together is emotional and very satisfying. And of course, as with all Carol Lynne novels, the male/male interaction is hot, hot, hot!
The secondary characters are nicely done and interesting as well. I hope and suspect we’ll see more of these guys in the future. This book said it was best read as part of a series, but I had no problem picking up Hershie’s Kiss and getting immediately drawn into the well-written tale. One thing is for sure, I definitely want to go back and read the other books!

This book was the next step in the Campus Cravings series and it dealt with blind tolerance director Charlie and the dorm cook Jack...

a few books back, Jack left without so much as a goodbye and it broke Charlie's heart, but in this book, Jack is back and he brings with him a 15 year old son that no one but Jack knew about.

Things go terribly awry as Charlie learns more about his own background and then there's a lot of set up in this book for the next book between Michael and Theron.

There was a lot of angst and sad but it was mixed in well with the happy and I enjoyed the book, just not as much as some of the others.

Charlie Salinger is the tolerance director at NICU and in charge of the BK house. Charlie is also blind. I liked Charlie throughout the series but didn't know anything about Jack Hershie besides the fact that he liked to argue with Charlie a lot. I thought this was a pretty good book. I didn't love Jack and Charlie's connection, but I did enjoy meeting Jack's son, Bobby, and read how Jack worked through his various relationship issues. Overall, this was a good book in the series and I thought it had a nice HEA.

I seem to be an out of order reader when it comes to this series, so I’m missing a little continuity, but it still works. I like seeing success stories where people overcome the challenges that life tosses their way and Charlie was no exception. It was very surprising to me that no one in his life before Jack ever conveyed a clue about his true upbringing – yikes, how does that happen!

Charlie and Jack seemed to be an interesting coupled pair, but in the story of their own, this intense attractive quality between those two, simply vanished. The main storyline was rushed, undeveloped and simply, plain boring. By re-reading the story, I feel disappointed. I wished for a read, romance, but what we got here is a rushed boring work.

I just wanted to throttle this pair, and tell them to stop hurting one another. But all the good that came out was wonderful.Poor Charlie, to find out who you thought you were, to be something entirely different at his age would be traumatic.

До конца надеялась, что родная мать Чарли опомнится и появится на пороге. История начинается с середины отношений ГГ, начало было кусками в предыдущих книгах. Хотелось увидеть их отношения в книге с самого начала, а не с середины.

3.5/5 It was a solid three, but I added half a star because I think part of my issue with it was due to my not realizing I had to read the previous books (too many characters to follow for a short story mainly).

This installment in the Campus Cravings world is a bit angst-filled but still manages to have some pretty hot sex scenes as well.

Feels strangely unfinished. The books in the series are overlapping much more and they are beginning to feel like a lot of character introductions with less character development.

I didn't really feel the relationship between Charlie and Jack. I liked the characters well enough but didn't particularly like the romance.
