Eman started to write this book when she was 15, and now at the age of 17, she is a published writer. War within is a story of a girl who is fighting with depression, a girl who had everything anyone can wish for until she doesn't.
Elif, a normal girl, who falls for someone and succeed in getting him. But this is not a happily ever after for one. Lose of losing her loved ones one after other, made her fall into severe depression. These losses didn't end here, it is just a start. This story is about young Elif to middle-age Elif.
Every chapter started with her suffering from depression and then flashback to memories, I liked this pattern, it was easy to keep track.
I liked the story and pace. Though writing and character development are not that mature. Character and their relationship felt like out of the fairytale, which didn't complement with a serious topic.
I am not a fan of reading a book in the span of 2 to 3 days but i just couldn't stop myself from reading it. The thing i like most about this book is the style of writing, simply simple yet so moving This book is about a girl named Elif and how besides having everything she had nothing. Writer has beautifully portrayed how depression feels like, how you think about yourself when you are alone with your Nafs. I love the way the writer had given Elif's chronic depression a complete character naming Lahb. The things lahb used to say to Elif were really mean but they were so true in a sense that we think about our selves I love it when Elif said" No one could be more mean to us than we are to our own selves" I also loved the fact that writer didn't include any highschool drama crap and talked about real issues. And also the way writer had mentioned verses from Quran that can make anyone's not just day but life. Cried throughout reading this book but loved the ending. How writer gave the message that no matter how old you are it's never too late to take control of our life and be happy.
war within by eman fyaz butt has shown the world that the s0-called boundaries this world has created for us, can always be crossed. i haven't read much of the book, but honestly talking i am more fond of the authoress than the book - however, when i read the first two chapters i was so so happy and buoyant when i read the muslim names and assalam o alaikum. we need to respect our religion to prosper and eman fyaz butt has made us pakistanis so proud. writers are thought as extra ppl and incapable, but she has shown that having a degree or being a doctor and engineer is not everything, there are many other ways to pursue your dreams, and achieve your goals.
one tip for eman: i bet the main character, elif was inspired by the book 40 rules of love. this book was recommended by imran khan ( prime minister) for pakistanis and i think u should write an email to him too, i hope he'll be eager to help you acheive and he will like a young authoress from pakistan with an excellent story, a heart of gold and aims and goals that cross the sky !!! ( jut my two cents )
I liked the book alot although i wish the character development were a little mature still i loved it the pace and storyline how it felt as u were watching a movie where character telling its story... I serously loved it i think some people can also relate to the character alot i felt as if it was me I hope in the future u will make another book more amazing than this one
