I think I randomly selected this at Half Price Books, and am glad I did. Apparently need to learn more about Southern Baptist Theological Seminary if Teilhard is taken seriously and seen as potentially fruitful. The particular kind of Southern Baptist culture I grew up in would dismiss remnants of Teilhard (his emphasis on evolution and other ways of describing things) as either anti-biblical or very suspect. This would be more comfortably affirmed by Teilhard’s being a Jesuit. And this was published in 1976. I always associated SBTS as a training ground for likeminded preachers rather a place for varied scholars/thinkers. The quote from the preface:
“Shortly after I began doctoral studies at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Professors Dale Moody and Eric Rust introduced me to Pierre Teilhard de Chardin...Several chapters in this volume have evolved out of other papers. One paper was presented to the Faculty Club at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.”
