Earth Remembers
So much has happened with Marco and Addy and their twins especially when Terri is kidnapped. Then Lalanni and Tala with Addy's brother Kai, flying to Abbadom. Fast pace now on to book 14.

Old friends rise again to battle a new/old threat
Marco, Addy and the twins rise to battle a new threat. Old friends in new roles, remember their past and fight again to rescue Marco's daughter-from-another-mother, Terry, and save the planet from a newborn Scum terror left over from the Alien Wars. Hybrids - humans with a tiny percentage of Scolopendra titania, scum genes in their genetic makeup - were waking to their scum side. Called up by the King of Many Claws, they awoke to maim, terrorize and kill. The scummers rose up in the thousands and tore apart the Earth's population by the millions. One particular old foe - Corvin Legrave - Marco's biggest fan, rejected by Marco, has grabbed all of Marco's at tent ion . . . no spoilers! You have to read it for yourself!
Like pulling on an old pair of wool stockings, warm, comfortable, cozy, but still that itchy wool drives you batty, old friends that you haven't heard from in a while can still have you laughing, excited, sad, angry, weak and pumped - not all at once (except occasionally), but at least every other page. Addy is still a hot dog addicted, hockey stick in one hand, machine gun in the other, tall blond goddess of Marco's dreams and nightmares. Einav Ben Ari is President of Earth with her faithful, brilliant, scientist husband Noah always at her side. Lailani de la Rosa feels the call of the King of Many Claws, the Scum King of Abbadon, in the Scum part of her. That part of her feels anger, rage, the desire to rip apart these tender morsels of Earth flesh and devour them.
Old friends returned to new dangers, the characters are ready. Old enemies rise again to threaten Earth with destruction. Here we go again! You're gonna love this! I know I did!

Earth Remembers is the thirteenth book in the Earthrise series by Daniel Arenson. It is a sweeping, fast-paced (YA) space opera that swept me into high-stakes interstellar warfare that was balanced with some deeply human moments.
Across the saga, we follow a ragtag crew of misfits, soldiers, and survivors as they navigate a galaxy torn apart by war, political intrigue, and alien threats.
But Mr. Arenson doesn’t just give us epic space battles, he also gives us characters who feel real, flawed, and worth rooting for. The camaraderie between the crew, the moral dilemmas they face, and the moments of humor amidst chaos really made the series feel believable and ‘alive’.
Mr. Arenson’s worldbuilding is rich without getting bogged down with too much technical jargon. Alien species, futuristic tech, and galactic politics are introduced in a way that was easy to follow, which makes the series is easy to dive into even to readers who are new to sci-fi or space opera.
So, if you enjoy a (more YA type) of Firefly-style found families, with Battlestar Galactica-level tension, and a dash of Star Wars-like adventure, then the Earthrise series is a ride you won’t want to miss. It’s not just about saving the galaxy - it’s also about the bonds forged in the fire of war.

The first several books in this series are not bad--a little black-and-white (you can spot pretty early who's going to live and who's going to die, classic horror movie rules), but overall not bad.
As we get past the first six or so books, though, the writing becomes progressively worse, almost as if the author wanted to try and tailor his prose to be more accommodating to 12-year-olds, even as he continues to display some pretty adult themes (sex, violence, even rape threats).
The characters never really seem to learn anything, they continue to agonize over the same issues, they continue to have the same internal conversations, and by about the twelfth book, everybody in the inner circle has slept with everybody else, and are constantly revisiting every decision they've ever made, even if they just made that decision a few pages ago.
My enjoyment of the series has progressively declined with each successive book, to the point that I will not buy anything further in this series.

Possibly better than the two previous books.
Daniel Arenson has credible writing skill. The characters (aside from villains) are well developed and fun, each with a unique voice. Unfortunately he also tends toward a dark and demented thread for all antagonist.

Predictble
I'm reading to finish the series. As it gets further along it becomes more and more predictable. I believe the author has stretched this to far.
