Awakening to a New Reality: Conscious Conversations across the Horizon of Death

Rate this book
It was a surprise when conversations with her friend Ursula started only three hours after she had passed. Her messages from the beyond indicate a step forward from our present third dimensional reality to greater and higher levels of experience. ‘If you feel that this turbulent world is becoming ever more chaotic, mis-managed and violent, read this book. If you have a glimmering sense that there is more to life than what you can see, read this book.If you experience moments of clarity about life’s path, you’re onto something. Read this book. The book may look a bit odd at first glance, but it has confirmed what has been dawning for me over half a century of helping to stop people killing each other. This is that inner exploration, self-awareness and listening to a voice from within the heart, make our work in the world – whatever it is – ten times more effective (as well as a lot more joyful). Why? Because it connects us to a greater whole, to the higher consciousness that Einstein knew was essential to solve the global problems we now face.’Dr. Scilla Elworthy, Founder of Peace Direct, author of The Business Plan for Peace

Awakening to a new reality is a spiritual self-help book about after-death conversations the author has with her best friend. The discussions cover subjects like dealing with grief and living to the fullest potential.
Contrary to what you would think about the book as soon as you read the title or description, I found the work to be quite positive. It was filled with positive energy.

When Ursula passes away, it only takes a few hours before she is in communication and having a conversation with Janice.

The first part of the book talked about Ursula’s death and the cancer she was battling with. The second part then talks about the way we perceive death and life as reality. The third part discusses the future.

I wasn’t a big fan of the book cover. I thought considering how meaningful the work was, a more thoughtful cover would have been better to represent the work.

I particularly enjoyed Janice’s feelings, doubts and questions. Her interest and approach towards the matter were novel, and I think that is what made the book stand out.

The question and answer book were interesting to read. I would recommend it to anyone who likes to read about the paranormal, death, afterlife and spirituality.

Theology and Rising Consciousness

This theological book was written over a period of twenty years. Janice Dolley, the author, went on pilgrimages to Iona in Scottland and other similar places. The first writing for this book took place in Iona, which is said to have a “thin veil” between heaven and earth. People go there for spiritual nourishment. Dolley met friends on these travels. She participated in meditation and prayer in small groups with people who wished to raise their consciousness.

Dolley writes that life flows through each and all of us, as well as every living thing. She offers recommendations to others who would like to live in the awareness that all life is interconnected. She explains how this includes racial and ecological justice.

Scripture is freely quoted throughout this book, as are the thoughts of famous religious leaders of many religions. Dolley states indigenous people have retained an awareness of ancestors that have gone on before, as have other religions. She suggests that Christianity may be moving towards a global spirituality, and that the continuity of consciousness beyond death is being affirmed by many who have had a near-death experience. She certainly felt her friend, Ursula Burton, helped her write this book after her death.

Helpful diagrams of the thoughts in the book are included. Each chapter has a little glossary of important people or places. The many references are listed in the back of the book. There is a little funeral service provided that may be used by anyone interested, as well.
