I am skeptical at first, I admit. I am sucker for Enemies to Lovers romance. Not all authors can pull it off the explosive chemistry. Miss Stark done well. Although I think the slow pace made me frustrated. Boom hit the spot for explosive chemistry between Arden and Brody.

The story of their hate started long ago while in the high school from series of misunderstanding, prejudice and unfortunate events. The writing kept me interested. Bit dragged due to slowness of the pace. I think the story can be cut into half. There are some unnecessary drama/ plot.

Overall this is a wonderful book. Entertaining.

DNF at 26%

I'm ok with cute, or with clever, and sometimes I am even ok with over the top humor in a romance.

What I also need is a strong romance to balance out the humor...and I didn't believe Arden and Brody liked one another.

At all. And at 25% in, even in an enemies to lovers, there has to be a connection between the main characters, even if it's strong hatred.

I never really thought Arden or Brody really cares that the other was around. And if there's not romance, there needs to be a draw of another kind.

This missed the mark for me as both a romance and as an enemies to lovers.

I don't recommend this title.

So let me get this straight… Recent college graduate Arden committed a first degree felony by breaking and entering her old family home to only then be caught by the owner Brody, who was the high school all star that caused the loss of her college scholarship, when taking a shower and has the audacity to question why he was there? Accusing him of purchasing her home out of spite, making demands as if she had any say in the matter, throwing out false accusations and stating that she doesn't owe him an explanation as to why she trespassed on his property?

ARE. YOU. FUCKING. KIDDING. ME?

These events all happened before even reaching the end of chapter five and it's plain to see that this heroine is absolute shit and batshit crazy. She's a prime example of what could ruin a book for a reader. With barely an ounce of hope, I thought just for a moment maybe just maybe she would have redeemed herself as the story progressed but nope. She remained childish, petty, irredeemable, annoying as fuck and was such an off putting whiny character that I had trouble connecting with her. If it had been anyone but her as the lead, I would have given this a higher rating. It's a damn shame that Brody along with his crew couldn't save this read as much as I absolutely enjoyed him, the side characters and the general concept of this romance a lot more than what's her face.

This was an okay read for me. I seem to be hit or miss with this author. My main problem with this book is Arden. She just isn't likable. I did like Brody but like other's he wasn't enough. The good news is that they did get a happy ending. I just hope the next guys book is better.

I LOVED this book. It’s one of the best enemies to lovers I’ve read in a while, and it was probably my most enjoyable read over all lately. I hate second channel books typically, but this didn’t have that dynamic. You can see how they could have been good together but they were so wrapped up in their own lives it wasn’t the right time. I usually don’t like that, but this author just makes it work. I can’t even explain it. Watching them fall for each other was awesome. Watching him grovel when he realized he had screws up was the best. I hate when an author doesn’t make a man grovel...

Welcome to the story of Arden the doormat and Brody the arsehole- great combo for what looked like it could have been a let-down of a book.
Enemies-to-lovers romance doesn’t work if the only one doing the hating is the guy, and the girl just takes whatever crumbs she gets and forgives his arrogant shit every time.

I was worried at the start. Hell, at her first meeting, she gets down on her knees and BEGS. WTAF? While accidentally becoming involved in restoring her grandparents’ house as part of a reno reality show, she is also bullied and harassed by his even bigger arsehole brothers whenever she has the misfortune to run into them. (What I got about them for most of this book is: The older one, Mason, is a controlling, vindictive bastard, the other, Chase, an immature man-whore idiot. Like ima gonna read THEIR stories.) Ultimately, the total lack of communication between the two MCs was ridiculous, and all could have been resolved in half an hour of honest discussion. Even when we find out why the brothers all hated her, it didn't excuse the awful way they behaved towards Arden. The oldest brother was particularly unpleasant.

What authors need to realise is that female MCs without a backbone are boring and embarrassing. A stronger FMC who pushed back and stood up for herself more, instead of wallowing in misplaced guilt and sentimental attachment to a building.

It finished up better than I expected, but I still can't say I actually enjoyed reading this book.

When Arden accidentally breaks into her high school arch nemesis' home and takes a shower, it gives these two enemies a good chance to get to know each other in ways they never bothered to in high school, and they find they were both laboring under a lot of misconceptions back then. And more significantly, they find that their antagonism was masking a serious attraction. Can they indulge in that attraction and keep their hearts intact, or will all their old ways of thinking creep back in and ruin their newfound happiness with each other?

I was honestly surprised at how sweet Boom turned out to be. It's also fun and witty and steamy. The balance between the enemies and the lovers is on point, and all together this is an entertaining story. And now that I've spent time getting to know the Blast brothers, I'm really looking forward to hardass Mason and sweet and sassy Cami's story, Bang.

Sweet

The kind of contemporary romance that makes you smile. It’s sweet.... well, once they get over themselves. And they do have quite a bit to get over. I mean, if either of them had just talked things through it works have been an incredibly short book - but no. It's misunderstanding heaven and they BOTH fall deep into the trap..... it is a Enemies to Lovers romance, after all.

Fortunately, like all good romances (or main stream ones at least), things are resolved, feelings exposed and the future looks bright. It's a charming read, though not a deep one. Great for pool side or casual reading.

My Final Verdict on Boom

I classify strict romance novels into several categories - this one falling in line with casual. It's sweet, a bit quick, fairly shallow on plot but over all, a decent book that inspires smiles.

🤬Still, I tried to look on the bright side. At least he hadn't shot me. Not yet, anyway.🤬

🤬Clara Cooper, my ass. I'd just realized who she was, and her name wasn't Clara. It was Arden Weathers, my least favorite psycho.🤬

🤬I freaking hated him. And boy, did he hate me, too.🤬

🤬The blonde hissed, "And stop talking. I'm trying to think." And I was trying to keep from slapping her. But you didn't see me complaining, did you?🤬

🤬She looked like apple pie and homemade cookies – assuming the pie was poison, and the cookies were filled with sand.🤬

🤬"What happened? Did you run out of hot water?" "No." I tried to think. "So…you always take cold showers?" "I do, now," he said. "Since when?" "Maybe a week ago." "Why?" "Because my roommate's crazy." "Gee, thanks," I said. "And what does that have to do with showering, anyway?" "I'll tell you what," he said. "Crazy or not, I can't stop thinking about her." 🤬

I so freaking excited when Sabrina just popped up with this surprise story! She is one of my favorite author! She never disappoint me and this time was excellent! I couldn't stop it down.
This story is freaking amazing, captivating, hilarious, and beautiful! Sabrina pulls you into her world with how she describes the scenery and the everything that comes with it! Sabrina writing is done beautifully and flows throughout the book without any errors or the flow of the story.The herione is Arden. She is independent, smart, stubborn, and beautiful. She wants her grandparents house. She trusted the wrong person in return her grandparents house wad sold from her. I understand Arden frustration and her embarrassed. The hero is Blast. He's a man with a very few words. He's driven, smart, and handsome. These two already have a bad past that make each other enemies during their senior year in high school. I laugh out loud at many times especially we they at each other. Now that they are adults can they finally leave the past in the past? Will they give in to each other?
Grab this story and start reading. I promise you that you won't be disappointed!
Amazing work again Sabrina Stark! I can't wait for your next release 😘

Arden and Brody have known each other since high school where a disastrous chemistry experiment set off a chain of events that made them enemies. Six years later Arden returns to her grandparents’ home, the only real home she had to find a sold sign, her cousin who is supposed to own the house with her not answering her calls and the new owner is none other than Brody. Brody and his brothers have the hottest home renovation company on tv and Arden begs him to save the house rather than demolish it. As a thank you she decides to clean up the yard for him only to find out that he always intended on fixing the house when the camera crew shows up. After the TV network exec sees them having a standoff and offers Arden a consulting job on the show everything gets more interesting. This was a really good book, with a stubborn alpha male, a stubborn heroine and a whole lot of miscommunication. I can’t wait for the next book in this series.

Oh my gosh, I loved this novel. From the very first chapter, this novel reached out and grabbed me and did not let go until the very last. I did not want this novel to end. I loved Arden and Brody. I loved their chemistry. I love the way this author writes dialogue and no one does banter better. I have loved all of this author's previous novels and this novel did not disappoint. I love it when a novel can make you laugh out loud in public. This novel checked all of my boxes for me and left me with a smile on my face and a happy heart. I can't wait to see what this author does next. I loved this novel!

I enjoyed every bit of this book! It was a cute, fun, sexy read!

It started off with a bang and never let up!

Arden and Brody were high school nemesis. They both despise the other for reasons that are revealed in flashbacks as the story progresses.

In the present, Brody has something Arden wants. Now they are stuck working with each other while being filmed for a national television show.

The banter is fun and the chemistry between these two is incredibly hot!

Secrets are revealed that will carry over into the next book, Bang, and I can't wait to read it!

This was a my first book from Sabrina Stark but it definitely won't be my last.

Cute and sweet renovation love story

Written in true Sabrina stark style, Boom was funny and sweet. Told with her biting one liners, some funny misunderstandings between our lovers, this was a fast and easy read. I love a couple with some bad blood in their past to overcome. And wrapped up sweetly and happily.

Excellent romance both simple and very moving
I really liked the style of the author who succeeds very well in transmitting and transcribing the feelings of both hatred and love of the two main characters. I also liked the mix of the enemy / lover relationship in the home improvement television world. There are both family dramas and manipulations, while remaining light, with a touch of humor.
Arden discovers that the house from her childhood that she should have been able to buy back from her cousin because she has half of it and that she paid to renovate, not only is in ruins, but has been sold without informing her, to an enemy of her childhood, Brody. Because of him, she lost her college scholarship and her house. He became famous and wealthy with the renovation of houses, and he has his own show. So when she finds herself participating in the show, their relationships are extremely tense due to a fairly heavy past.

So. The main ingredient to the enemies to love plot is purposeful miscommunication. And Brody being a buttface on purpose. Probably the crappiest way to execute my favorite trope.

Arden and Brody have a history from when they were in high school. A chem lab gone wrong results in Arden losing a scholarship, and then an attempt at burning her report card results in Brody's truck on fire. Boom Hate.

We tragically must endure flashbacks to it. And like most flashbacks they are enormous wastes of space. They add absolutely NOTHING. And bonus, are super redundant. What a winning combination.

There was potential, if the jackass attitude was toned down, and the flashbacks were left in the trash where they belong, it'd be on it's way to decent.

Maybe not amazing, but I'm willing to read the next one. (It's on KindleUnlimited so, why the hell not)

Boom was a cute read and there were things that I liked, but there were also things that I could not relate to. I couldn't connect to the characters and couldn't follow their thought logic, which made it hard to connect to the entire book as well. All in all it was an interesting book with cute and humorous moments, but probably not one that I would re-read. I give it 3 outta 5 stars!

PS: Thank you to Sabrina Stark and Give Me Books PR for allowing me an advanced copy of the book to read and review honestly.

Story and characters started out strong but then it was a) repeatative over high school lab. Which we didn't need to hear about over and over. B) once the couple got together we didn't get anything just a few weeks of being together sneaking through Windows etc?! Why not give us more somthing? Why only the repeative dramas? C) kept on for consulting? With no experience but 1 house belonged to her grandparents. So consult on what on the next house????? This book made all the characters seem like nasty self absorb characters towards the end. I won't be continuing the series.

Really bad. I almost stopped reading multiple times. The author did this thing where there was way too much description between lines of dialog that made it drag. The communication and head spinning was ridiculous. She didn’t even describe their kisses until the end. Overall very little I enjoyed. I did like the house concept but the follow through wasn’t there for them as a couple.

Arden Weathers has been working hard to take care of her family home while away at college. And now that she has graduated, she finally returns to the one place she was only ever happy... only to find that someone else now owns everything she ever worked for...

Broderick Blastoviak aka "Brody Blast" is rich and famous from starring in his own home renovation show and being an equal owner in the lucrative tool business he shares with his equally well known brothers. But Brody wasn't always this set in life. In fact, in high school there was one person who had a hand in making his life go from bad to worse... Arden Weathers...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Boom was a cute and solidly entertaining, enemies to lovers read. Arden and Brody made the ultimate mistakes in high school, but when they are thrust together once again, will the old and bitter feelings they continue to harbor ruin the possibility of finding their ultimate happiness... in each others arms...
Arden is a recent college grad who finds out her nemesis is now the proud owner of a home that rightfully belongs to her. But, no matter the feelings Arden has for Brody, when she discovers that her beloved home is going to be renovated using his expertise, she quickly decides that the Brody she remembers can't be all bad... or can he?!
Brody has never forgiven Arden for her role in making a low point in his life even worse,  but he can also admit to himself just how much of a role she plays in getting his blood pumping. And when they start to work and live in close proximity? All bets are off when it comes to any future they may share.
I really enjoyed the plot for this book, and I especially love the always enticing enemies to lovers trope, but Arden and Brody's story just didn't deliver all that I was hoping for from this story. The residual anger on both Arden and Brody's parts was justified and completely understandable, but when it came to facing the past head on, they both turned into just icky people (Brody especially!) when confronted with anything that was a little difficult.
The stately home in disrepair served as a supremely interesting setting for the book, and the home renovation show was a completely genius tool for many dramatic scenes. But in the end, I felt like the home itself was showcased much more than the developing relationship between Arden and Brody.
I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.
Awesome Story & Narration🎧 A Blast of a RomCom💘
Boom: An Enemies-to-Lovers Romantic Comedy
Blast Brothers, Book 1
By: Sabrina Stark
Narrated by: Connor Brown, Stephanie Rose
Wow, this book is one angsty and comical ride and I loved every minute of it. Sabrina Stark is a gifted author, I enjoyed her writing style, she created interesting storylines that were captivating from start to end. I liked how she lightened up her angsty enemies to lovers romance with comedy, a perfect blend of tropes and not an easy task to pull off but she nailed it. The well developed characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with. I adored both lead characters, Arden Weathers and Brody Blastoviak. Arden Weathers finishes college and returns back to what she thinks is her grandmothers home. Turns out it was recently sold and to none other than the one who caused her problems in H.S, ones that cost her more than he knew. Brody and his brothers have come a long way in the years she was away at college, they have a successful remodeling business and their own reality TV show featuring them and the homes they work on. When Brody catches her showering in what is now his house he does not know what to think. It does not take long to figure out who she is but he still not quite sure why she was there. OMG, the chemistry between these two is undeniable, well to everyone but themselves. Even the person filming the show saw it and offered her a job as a consultant just for the sake of adding drama to the show. Some of Arden’s antics were hysterical at times, her naivety was a bit unsettling at times as was much trust she put in her cousin. regardless of that I was rooting for her all the way. And for Brody to get his butt out of his head, those Blastoviaks are tough cookies life sure has hardened them. But it was good to see they still had a heart. I loved how everything plays out in this book, the story is cleverly plotted with plenty of drama, angst, humor, some heartfelt and emotional moments and a fabulous on the slow burn side of a romance. Sabrina Stark, thank you for this wonderful story and emotional rollercoaster ride. I am looking forward to what comes next in this Blast of a series.
🎧📚🎧And for the fabulous narration, Connor Brown and Stephanie Rose are talented narrators and voice artists. They did an awesome job portraying the characters, giving each their own distinct voice making it easy to follow along and tell who is who. They grasped each characters’ persona and sounded just as I pictured them to sound. Stephanie Rose played the perfect Arden and Connor Brown did the same for Brody. Both were great with the secondary characters as well. They also captured the characters emotions and projected them into their performance. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you the awesome listen.
This starts out much the same as dual-POV enemies-to-lovers novels seem to. And to my amusement, “Boom” is a very apt title. Well played, Stark.
While an entertaining enough read, there’s one thing I’d change:
I love dual POV, but in this instance, we do not get anything different with it. It’s poorly executed. Rather than getting different thoughts of the 2 MCs or different views of what’s going on, we literally just read everything twice. Once in each MC’s POV, and at times it’s literally word-for-word. If dual-POV is only going to be used to show everything twice, I’d rather just read one POV, to keep things moving and not add unnecessary length.
One other way in which the writing could be better:
FMC is forever “feeling herself” frown, smile, etc. “I felt myself frown.” Or the seeming-favorite phrase of this author, “I felt myself swallow”. It makes it sound as if her body is acting of its own accord, it takes me out of the story a bit. This distraction could easily be removed and story would flow a lot better by simply having her do the things, rather than feeling herself do the things, in my opinion.
Overall, this is an author who is a decent writer, with fun story ideas and ability to develop character development. Plot has been done before for sure, but what hasn’t? She put a great spin on it, really enjoyed the home improvement aspect.
I did predict the entire story and its outcome before I was through the first chapter, but listening my way through and finding out whether I was right was entertaining enough. Might explore more from this author, in the hope that she improves her craft a bit, of course.
Note:
I listened to the audiobook. Both narrators have pleasant, smooth voices and perfect emotional inflection. Definitely added to the reading experience for me. Will explore more from these narrators for sure. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This story is 3 stars for me, with the audio production side being 5 stars.
Will call it overall, as an audiobook: 4 stars, or as an ebook or print only, 3 stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was an enemies to lovers story, with a lot from their past clouding their present and future. The story revolves around a house that used to belong to Arden's grandparents and that Arden thought she was close to owning herself. Unfortunately for her, Brody is now the proud owner and it will be the next project on his reality construction show.
Whilst it was clear that there was definitely chemistry between them, as the sparks definitely flew, I struggled to see how they would work together. Let me start by saying that I loved Brody and his quiet and brooding ways. He has made good in life from where he was when he was younger and the fact that he has pulled himself up and worked hard to get where he is. He really tries with Arden and tries to make up for past mistakes. On the other hand, I found Arden incredibly annoying, shrill and had a massive chip on her shoulder. It came across that Arden felt as though the world owed her, which brought a self-righteousness to her character that was not appealing. There was so much conflict that I could only read in small doses
That being said I enjoyed the premise of the story and the elements relating to the house renovations as well as the banter between Arden and the show's producer. There were certainly plenty of explosive moments between the various different characters. I am intrigued by the rest of Brody's brothers and do hope they get their own stories.
BOOM (BOOK 1)
BLAST BROTHERS SERIES
WRITTEN BY SABRINA STARK
NARRATED BY STEPHANIE ROSE & CONNOR BROWN
This is a fabulous book that will definitely have you smiling. An enemy to lovers romance about Arden and Brody who reconnect after six years, having attended high school together they share an explosive moment that resulted in them becoming enemies.When Arden returns home after six years the home, her grandparent owned, the only home she could call home has been sold! Her cousin isn't answering her calls and she finds out the person who now owns her grandparents home is none other than her enemy from high school Brody who with his brothers own a renovation company who have their own TV show.There is still no love loss between them, and Brody now has something she wants, so is more determined than ever to save her grandparents home doing whatever it takes… Even clean up the yard for him. When the TV crew show up, they witness the angst behaviour between Arden and Brody that would make excellent TV so offer Arden a consulting job on the show now they are stuck working together and with all the pent-up angst between these two can only lead to some more explosive chemistry which makes for excellent moments in this book. This was a really good book. I loved the chemistry these two had however there are some secrets revealed that will lead into the next book called Bang which I am looking forward to listening to.
4.5 stars.
Boom is a fun and slightly addictive enemies to lovers story and a great intro for me to author Sabrina Stark. Arden is an independent and stubborn woman.  After years of being away at college she returns home to negotiate with her cousin to buy her grandparents house. Unfortunately the house had been sold out from under her and she comes face to face with the new owner, literally a Blast from her past.
Brody is Arden's high school enemy. Now, he is gorgeous and successful and quite honestly comes across as a bit of a jerk on the surface. The house was purchased to be featured on his family's  fixer upper show.  The storyline surrounds the restoration of the house and ultimately the future owner of the house is the ripping point of the relationship that Arden and Brody fall into.
I devoured this book all in one sitting.  There were some situations I just rolled my eyes at the immaturity between the h/h however if you think about how mature one is in their early 20s it's actually a pretty accurate depiction of the age group.  (Been there, done that, have the tshirt.) The book was well written and it had the perfect flow and even set up the next book in the series, landing Blast on my TBR list.
I would definitely recommend Boom and I will be checking out more of Ms. Stark's novels.
Overall, I enjoyed this listen. The performance was decent, although, sometimes it seemed that Conner couldn’t narrate some sections fast enough...almost like the sentence needed to be read in one breath. That aside, overall, both narrators did excellent on changing voices to distinguish different characters.
The storyline & plot were good. The beginning of the book up to about Ch 43-44 were a little slow moving, but I’m actually ok with that. It gives a little more time for character development. But at that point, it was almost warp speed. From Ch 43-44 where we have intense hatred, then suddenly in Ch 46 we have thoughts of forever. When these enemies finally came together, they were good together, it just felt like the early stages of their relationship were rushed. The villainous characters were definitely ones to promote hatred of a character...I even caught myself talking to Arden & getting pissed when she just became a doormat. But the backbone she grew later in the book was very welcome. Their lack of communication was infuriating, but in the end, it helped them grow.
I loved the way that they both harbor feeling for each other, but more slow burn would’ve been even better.
I am interested in what happens to the other brothers, so I will likely read or listen to the others.
Arden was raised by her grandparents so the home that they owned holds a special place in her heart. When they passed away, she became a 50% owner and has been paying her cousin for the upkeep however she is in for a nasty shock when she returns home from college. The house she loved has not only been sold but is also being renovated for a television show and if that isn’t distressing enough the new owner is also her enemy from high school.
Brody appears to be living the perfect life, but appearances can be deceiving. He has created a successful career for himself by starring in a television show that renovates homes but when his world and Arden’s collide all the disdain and pain from high school resurfaces with a vengeance. If that isn’t bad enough, they now find themselves working together on the show, let the battle begin!
It is only a matter of time before the sparks of animosity turn into sparks of a different nature but with the misunderstanding of the past and the challenges of the present things are about to become complicated. The interactions between them were both humorous and hot, there is so much more to the characters that first appears, and the story still has an emotional pull. I listed to an audio copy of the book and thought they did a great job of ensuring the listener felt what the characters were feeling. 🎧Audiobook Obsession
It was ok. In some twisted way I couldn't put it down thinking, hoping that it had to get better. Only it didn't. All in all it felt very juvenile. The drama mostly trumped up and overly fabricated. I know it's a story, fictional. But you still want it to make sense, feel organic, believable.
Brody acts like he's 40 years old, 35 at the least, when he's the same age as Arden seeing as they were high school classmates. On the flipside, she acts like she hasnt aged a day since their high school days emotionally or mentally.
The second half of the book felt dragged out needlessly only to suddenly wrap it in the last 5 minutes, like whoopsie, ok let's make up and never mind all the shit we put each other through and all the hurtful things we accused each other of... then again why bother starting with romance now when it'd been absent from start to finish.
As for the writing itself, the overly dramatic chapter endings were driving me bonkers. Honestly, you don't need an ominous drum roll at the end of E V E R Y chapter.
An editor might have been helpful as well, with so many missing words or duplicate ones.
Sadly, this was my first experience with this author and I can't say that it enticed me to give the rest of the series a go. Neither Mason nor chase intrigued me enough to want to read their story.
