I bought this book in anticipation of an upcoming first trip to Ireland. My hope was that this book would give me some cultural and historical background on the Irish while also describing some of the island's scenic spots. Instead, the book primarily was a stream-of-consciousness travelogue. It wasn't even fun to read. Most annoying was the author's periodic disparagements of America.
