Jaxar and I didn't exactly have a regular romance since he abducted me and then sent me on a journey that could've resulted in my death. But that's neither here nor there. And what doesn't kill you, makes you bitter. I mean, stronger.
Anyway, the point is that my husband, who I adore, is becoming distant. That, plus my hormones, are turning me into someone I don't recognize. With war imminent, now is not the time to be insecure and emotional, and yet tell that to my pregnant self. All she wants to do is eat and cry. *insert eye roll here.
I need to figure out how to save my relationship with Jaxar, as well as lead my people or I won't be just dead emotionally, but physically as well. And I didn't travel all across the galaxy to just give up now.
Guess it's time to grab my hairpins and put on my big girl panties because I'm going to let my inner Boraq come out to play.
*Very intense emotionally, but there is no killing of main characters and the HEA is a given*
Miranda Bridges began sneaking romance novels as a teenager and did not confess to reading them until she became a legal adult. After years and years as a voracious reader she woke up one day with a story in mind. She decided to write it down in order to silence her imaginary friends, but they’ve grown in number and have gotten louder. When she is not reading, writing, or drinking coffee she is taking care of two princesses who are of a reading age. Needless to say Miranda is still hiding romance books around the house, but now some of them have her name on the cover.
Wonderful addition to this series. Love, heartache and new found strength in their love for each other by Jaxar and his mate. Kudos to Miranda bridges.
I was so happy to see the babies born. Everyone comes together in the end except the evil west. One of the best characters was Shadow, she was almost like a good luck charm.
This book begins by dropping you off in the middle of an ongoing plot line. The author could have elaborated on what’s going on, plans to win the “war”, interactions between humans and their mates, duties the fmc has apropos to her status as queen, and any other such details that would flesh the book out. However, what we actually get is some lame exposition about how the fmc is stressed, but no actual evidence that she is. Instead she facilitates a cesarean with no actual knowledge about them, stresses that she’s been away from her kid for a day, ruminates on the difficultly of work life balance (though there is little actual evidence of work), and fixates on her husband’s emotional distance which is exemplified by him not having sex with her for 3 days. The plot is what it is, a reason to briefly care about this couple again and to find some lame way to end the series. The “war” concludes with no real discussion. Everyone effs off back to their lives I guess. The epilogue is... contrived as a second HEA, no idea why. The book is 160 pages to basically say this series is done. And none too soon because the author is obviously over the characters and ready to move on. So, yeah, it’s a fine, short story about a cute couple and a wham, bam, series is over ma’am. If you’re like me and liked the series, it’s a bit of a sad ending, but if you want a fast read about characters that love each other and an excuse to read a few sex scenes, you could do worse.
This was just a really extended epilogue but so much happens and it’s still a great story from Makayla’s perspective. There’s spice and drama- it was perfect.
You do need to read the other books in order to fully understand this- at least book 1 and 2.
This was a fantastic read. I loved catching up with everyone & seeing how they had settled into their world. Plenty of action, heat and a good dose of laughs. Loved it!
There is wit, humour, action, suspense, tension and more. Stone aliens with wings are given human women for a chance at mates. They will do what ever it takes to keep them safe. Women kidnapped not once but twice find themselves with a gargoyle race. Its either embrace them or run screaming from the hills. But to be a part of them they must show their strength to be part of the tribe. Will the tribe accept them or not.
I believe the purpose of this book was to wrap up the war between the North/South/East tribes and the Western tribe. The rest of the book wasn’t really worth much. You have Makayla, wife to the king of the southern tribe pretty much spending 60% of the book crying or accusing her husband of infidelity. I just cannot stand when people cannot seem to accomplish even rudimentary communication skills. Personally, I think if the author would have tagged on the final 30% of this book to the last book in the series, Taken by the Beast, this 5th book would have been unnecessary. It was a disappointing finish to an otherwise very good series.
I recommend the series, but not this book. If you must, just skim through until 65-70%, and you’ll be good.
This book was written from a single perspective, which was that of the human female’s, and not back-and-forth between the male and female. I found this format to be a breath of fresh air from the usual books with dual perspectives.
Written in first person by Miranda Bridges, Loved by a Beast is the 5th (and final) in The Hearts of Stone series. Instead of following a new couple, this book returns to the perspective of Makayla (from book 1). This book picks up after the three tribes united against a common enemy at the end of book 4. The Boraq were allies to the Dravians, and played a key role in helping them win the war against the Yalat. Just as the Boraq came to the Dravian's assistance, the Dravians came to assist the Boraq in their war.
Boraq's were Gargoyle-like aliens that lived in the jungles of the planet Sulrim. They were seven feet tall with wings and a tail. Their dark gray skin, the color of night, had a purple undertone, kind of like an eggplant. From the moment of their birth, every male was born with a heart encased in stone. The female's heart beats freely, calling to their other half. It is a song that can only be echoed by the male destined to be bound to her. When the male hearts hear the song, the stone barrier cracks and disintegrates, leaving the male’s heart free to answer. It is known as the "shattering.” Once they marry, it’s for life, and the only way a marriage can be undone is if a male finds his mate during the shattering. (Basically, their heart doesn't start beating until after they have sex with their heartmate.) However, that hadn't happen since the mating instinct had long died, along with most of their women from an illness brought to their planet by a previous batch of human servants. The illness killed most women and children, leaving the Boraq skeptical of all humans.
Makayla was Jaxar's one true heartmate, verified by the shattering in book 1. We didn't have to wait long for the raunch in this book, since their relationship had already been established as a married couple. The book opened on a sexual encounter in chapter 1, giving us readers some spice from the get-go. Since I read this genre of books specifically for the raunch, I had zero objections. One of the things I love about Grace Goodwin's Interstellar Bride Series is that she opens every book with hot sex scene. So the instant fire wasn't the least bit uncomfortable for me. Delaying sexual intercorse anytime after the 48% mark is like dangling the cheese so long it molds. But that certainly wasn't the issue here.
This was probably my least favorite book in this series. After the opening love making, the euphoria hadn't had time to wear off before they received news of Makayla's friend Vivian being in labor. And that started a snowball from hell. After hours of excruciating pain and hard labor, Vivian's baby was breached, meaning it wasn't facing the right way for delivery. Because the Boraqs were a simple species, unfamiliar with technology or advanced medicine (reminding me of how native Americans once lived), the healers declared both Vivian and the baby as lost. Until Makayla explained the process of a cesarean and talked the healers into attempting it. It worked, saving both Vivian and child, but not without loads of drama. Afterwards, Makayla's husband Jaxar thought it would be a brilliant idea to distance himself from his pregnant wife, too overwhelmed with both temptations to fuck her (which could enduce labor) and scared shitless that she was going to die. Which, as a result, made Makayla's hormormonal state believe that Jaxar was unattracted to her and being unfaithful. The female Grefina who was after Jakar didn't help matters, but EVERYTHING in this book could have been avoided with better communication and some assistance from the doctor Braxton of the Dravians. Which they eventually got. Honestly, this book had WAY too much drama for my liking.
Anyway, the Masse of the western tribes was named Morox. With the help of Boraq traitors (which were jealous females) and the squid-like aliens, the combined tribes were overpowered and defeated until the Dravian reinforcements showed up, saving them with their telekinesis and fierce warriors. (Which was the best part of this book, in my personal opinion.) Makayla gave a healthy birth to her son Kharis.
Even with the disappointment of the series finale, the series was worth the read, if this genre of books is in your wheelhouse. It had the perfect balance of adventure and romance. Overall recommended. 🫶

All right, I guess. I feel like I could have done without it.
Minor spoilers because you know they're going to make up lol...
I know the h was pregnant and hormones and going through stuff but she did come off as abrasive here and there. I swear so I'm not one those people who is against it completely but damn, her rude language never lets up.
She REALLY a wouldn't let the cheating go. Pro felt so bad for him. He said so many heartfelt things and she was just not having it. What really bothered me was that when she figures outs it's not true, she never even apologizes for having no faith or trust in him. He seemed really hurt by the whole thing and I don't get how he just got over it without a sorry or more time or something. Actually, SHE was still the one with the problem when everything was resolved. She said there’s still distance between them. Um..ok?
She tricked the "mistress" into showing she hadn't slept with the H (mentioned a supposed scar H had on penis) but the H was clueless. How did he not understand the made up scar thing? It's like he didn't know he doesn't have a scar lol.
Midwife lady gave her leaf or something which would make it 24 hours and not six weeks after giving birth for to have sex. Really? Come on. I know this is fantasy but no. Oh and birth control kicks in in just an hour lmao. The birth scene was so sweet even though they hadn't reconciled yet and the sex wasn't needed. Who is even emotionally ready after a birth and everything else? Also he seemed exasperated for a second when she didn't want to and I sideeyed that.
Also, aliens speaking in contractions is weird. It pulls me out of the story.

Written for mature readers only (18+ years old) due to subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some including adult language, steamy intimate scenes and violence such as abduction, kidnapping, attempted rape, torture, fighting some until death, etc.
This is the last scheduled story in the Hearts of Stone series, but I for one hope there are more. I highly recommend this series be read in order for maximum reader satisfaction and to prevent spoilers as there are reoccurring characters and an overall storyline arc.
The couple from the first story is again featured in this story. Considering how that ended, I was pleasantly surprised by the storyline, and welcome the opportunity to read this format again as an effective way to make the series more complete. I was also reminded why I have fallen in love with the writing from this author for LOL PNRs, filled with well developed characters and story universes, plus the steamy intimate scenes.
The only thing that could have made it better would have been to include a follow up with each of the other couples that had stories in the series, as well as maybe a chapter or two from the males POV.
Malaya was chosen by the leader as his mate or wife. Jaxar fell in love with her after she had been abducted by aliens. She finally got over that he had wings. Now, she is pregnant on a world with no technology of any kind. Her friend, Vivian is also pregnant but farther along. Malaya has some trust issues from her parents. Her dad screwed around on her mom. So she can't trust wholeheartedly. Then Vivian goes into labour but something is wrong. The baby is breach and too big. She is exhausted and her and baby are going to die. The healers can do nothing and accept her death. Mandalay won't give up her friend without a fight. She tells the healers how to do surgery to take the baby. Now, she worries about her dying next. Plus, they are in the middle of a war. I have read this entire series and each book is better than the last. You will have to read the rest of the book to see how it ends up. It is an adult readers only book with a happily ever after ending. You won't get hurt on this series of this author. I have several of her books besides this series.
When you have everything you desire, you have everything to lose.
Women are barely surviving labor, war is on the horizon from the Western tribe and now to add insult to injury Torak is pushing his, Makayla, his Massela away and becoming distant. “I thank you for your assistance, Grefina,” Jaxar says. “Your council on these matters has been most helpful.” Like the normal wife I am, I think to myself, Who is Grefina? “It is my honor, Masse,” the female says, her voice pleasant and with the hint of a smile in it. “Are you sure there’s nothing else I can do for you?” The suggestion in her tone has me sucking in an angry breath right before I press my lips together to keep from being heard.
“That trazak!” ......"I swear there’s one trazak in every tribe, and I guess when Egathi left, Grefina took her place.”
Pregnant, emotional and feeling betrayed. What's a girl to do? Stab her mate with a poisonous dart to temporarily paralyze him. TIMBER!! Miranda Bridges does not disappoint with the 5th installment of the Hearts Of Stone series. Loved By A Beast has everything - passion, betrayal, fear, violence and most important of all LOVE. This is a book you cannot put down. It will leave you on the edge of your seat. Talk about white knuckles. From start to finish it's an emotional rollercoaster ride you don't want to miss. But in the end love does conquer ALL. Absolutely brilliant Miranda. This is definitely going to be a #1 best seller!!!

Normally I don’t like going back to revisit a couple from a previous book but I hadn’t forgotten the cast of characters from previous books or the war plot so I jumped right back in.
Not my fave of the series- Makayla is pregnant, thinks her husband is cheating and worried about giving birth because Vivian does and ... drama. I hate the ‘he’s cheating ‘ plot in fated mates books because really? The whole trope is that he can’t/won’t/would never .... but she’s pregnant and hormonal and the war, so I gave it a pass.
Anyway, the series is all wrapped up with cameos and good vibes. HEA all the way!
This is where the series wraps up? I read through the whole series at a steady pace, it was so easy to fall into the stories full of fated mates, devoted men, and brave women who stuck by each other through thick and then. The descriptions of childbirth were spot on, and what Mikayla was feeling about Jaxar and all that mess? Dude, you have to read it, because if you've ever been cheated on, or even thought you were? Chick is spot on all over that stuff. She got the emotional turmoil just exactly right. This book is full of so many amazing parts, it is definitely a one sit read through. I won't be mad if she can squeeze a few more books from this group of characters, I'd read those too!
This book was one of the most realistic "follow ups" yet. Happily ever after takes work and this book shows us what life is like when the honeymoon phase ends and married life begins. Makayla goes through every emotion humanly possible while trying to navigate her "new normal" . You can tell she wants so desperately to be the girl Jaxar loves without neglecting her new duties as wife, mother and Massela. The tug and pull in this book is so refreshing and the scenes are as scorching as usual. Keep em coming!!!!
I just finished binge reading this entire series. I was introduced to McKayla and the Baroq in the House of Kaimar series which I binge read prior to this series and met the other characters as this series progressed. The stories had me reading from one book to the next to find out what was happening without a break in between. Needless to say, I haven't done anything but read the last few days and I didn't get much sleep either. It's great I can now get something done around here but I am sad to be saying good-bye to this world and these characters.
It all comes to a full circle with this last book! This book is a continuation of Makayla and Jax. In the story the couple goes through a rough patch during Makayla pregnancy, she thought Jax was being unfaithful in their marriage. The couple does through a battling argument. Until she goes into labor!
In this book you will read true love and communication over come all. Also to never mess with this alien wife or he will f you up! In book: arguments redeem love, pregnancy, birth of a heir, final battle, and a happily ever after!
I really enjoyed this series. I like the fated mates theme. Miranda does a great job with developing likeable characters and great plot/world building. I loved Makayla and her fiesta personality. She is strong and funny but not overbearing, whiny, or annoying like so many authors make their heroines come across. Jakar was hot alpha alien male struggling with being vulnerable but I so enjoyed the journey of his discovery. Intimate scenes are scorching and well written. I’m hoping there are more to come!!
*I am a beta reader for this author and read this book before publication and copy was finalized*
I highly enjoyed this book. It went to a much deeper level than you typically see in the sci-fi romance category or maybe even the entire romance genre. Miranda used this book to show that love isn’t perfect and doesn’t just end in happily ever after when the couple gets together or gets married. This book was raw and real and I loved every moment of it.
This Author was recommended to me by another author. I was not interested in reading about Aliens but this book was one of the few that keep me interested and entertained. Just a few days ago I had to return a book by another author the story was getting on my nerves. But I have finally found that Hart, Bridges and Draven writes some of the best Alien books. They are very funny and the characters are great and they complement each other, great entertainment.
Jaxar and Makayla are characters from a previous book that detailed their romance. Although married now there is no lack of passion or alpha determination on his part. No spoilers...the conflict and resolution is excellent and the danger they find themselves in is serious. We get to see the Dravians again, which brings this to full circle. I hope there will be more books in both series.
So loved this book and the continued story of Jaxar and Makayla’s story. Who said marriage between species is easy. While Jaxar becomes distant, Makayla tries to balance motherhood and her mate’s behavior changes. Also there is a threat looming.
I love how other characters from other books are entwined in this book and I can’t wait for the next book in this series.
Last book of the series, and it rounded everything up nicely. The storyline was captivating, emotional, intriguing and overall entertaining. The book moved at a good pace and was a smooth read. My heart broke for Makayla and poor Jaxar was put through the ringer. Misunderstandings put their relationship in turmoil, but love does prevail and all confusion is sorted. I do love these characters and all from previous books. A great ending to this awesome series.
Ok love the idea of tribes merging and the War, but threwout the battle between Jaxar and his Silana I kept wanting her to say the things that pushed her away and the author kept writing in her being all swayed by lust. Please... she just had a baby, thinks he's been unfaithful. Sex is the last thing on her mind. Who ties up and manhandles a woman who just gave birth. Now when she sticks him that was epic. I guess I'm just harder headed.
Omg this book is a must read if you have read the serious you would definitely want to read this one. Makayla and Jaxar story continues and you get to know what the other characters are up to. There is alot of love and some good action. You feel the love that Jaxar has for Makayla. If you love the beast books then you need to read this one.
Loved by a Beast: Hearts Of Stone Book 5 By Miranda Bridges Kindle unlimited purchase This is book 5 in a great series. This book is fast-paced. Every book in the series has a happy ending. I do recommend this book for readers over the age of 18. Sorry (well not sorry) its just too HOT!
Lots of action and really sexy hero.lots of women power
So this heroine has not been my favorite but this story worked for her. She is a bit nuerotic but her live for her friends and children do a lot to redeem her. Lots and lots of action. And thank goodness this author does not emasculate her heros.
