In Alaska, a lethal threat is unearthed from the frozen ground. Near Maui, a shipwrecked submarine holds a frightening secret, and on the California coast, war veteran Jake Wolfe races against time to uncover a conspiracy.
When a master plan emerges that has the potential not only to threaten Jake's city, but to kill off targeted populations around the world, Jake embarks on a desperate search-and-destroy mission in order to protect the lives of everyone he knows and cares for. His target? A group of rogue operatives planning mass murder.
With assassins on his trail, and the clock ticking, Jake must trace the path that will finally bring him face-to-face with the psychopathic genius who wants to remake the world.
Deadly Weapon is part of a series, but may be read as a stand-alone novel.

I couldn’t wait to sink my teeth into the latest installment of the Jake Wolfe series. At the beginning of the story Jake is on a fishing trip, taking a much-needed break. However, the criminals didn’t get the memo and once again Jake’s R&R will end before it even started. This latest mission would prove to be the deadliest of all as he faces down a group, called The Society, intent on world domination. To achieve their goal, they aim to weaponize the 1918 influenza virus, after which they plan to release it on world population starting with San Francisco. Jake’s mission is to seek and destroy the deadly virus and the person behind the threat.
Deadly Weapon, despite being fiction, was a scary reminder of what is taking place in our world today. It showed the depth of research Nolan undertook prior to writing this book. I loved how he combined actual events with fiction, which enhanced the reading experience.
Trouble follows Jake wherever he goes, and this time was no different. Non-stop action, suspense, thrills enough to keep me on the edge of my seat as I watch Jake and Cody race against the clock to stop the threat to humanity.
Amidst the seriousness of the mission, Nolan treated his readers to some light and romantic moments. Jake and Sara’s relationship has grown. She has come to terms with Jake’s classified assignments, and it pleased me to see how much they have grown as a couple. Then there were the scenes which had me laughing, especially the ones featuring Cody.
There is not much more I can say without risking spoilers; besides one needs to experience this story for oneself. So, in concluding if you are a fan of thrillers and suspense stories, then Deadly Weapon would make a great addition to your library. Now I will have to wait until March 2021 to learn what trouble Jake will find himself in once again. This review was originally posted on Totally Addicted to Reading
4.5 stars--DEADLY WEAPON is the fifth instalment in Mark Nolan’s contemporary, adult JAKE WOLFE military, suspense thrillers focusing on former combat Marine, Above Top Secret clandestine Black Ops specialist and attorney Jake Wolfe, and Marine IED detector dog Cody. DEADLY WEAPON can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalments is revealed where necessary.
Told from third person perspective DEADLY WEAPON follows Jake Wolfe as he is tasked with stopping a mad man from releasing a biological weapon that could destroy the planet’s population. Jake Wolfe is a peripheral member of a covert group within the Secret Service known as the POETs, and a such our hero finds himself part of a counter-terrorism team to prevent rogue operatives from working directly with a group known as The Society, an international network of billionaires who believe themselves the elite of humanity, hoping to rid the world of human vermin. Always one step behind or in the direct line of fire, Jake, his Military War dog Cody, and their cohorts must prevent the creation and release of a bio-weapon with the ability to destroy all of mankind while trying to keep themselves out of harm’s way.
Using the backdrop of the 1918 pandemic and Chronic Wasting Disease among other horrific viral possibilities DEADLY WEAPON does little to disguise the similarities and conspiracies surrounding the current pandemic of 2020 even referencing the deadliest pandemic in history, and its’ connection to what is now known as Wuhan China. The action-packed story line is rife with military weaponry and tactics, covert but not infallible operations and specialists, and the heart pounding suspense of what if and how.
Once again, there is a large ensemble cast of colorful secondary and supporting characters many of whom we have met in previous instalments including Jake’s handlers with the US government Secret Service Agent Shannon McKay; Jake’s love interest, Veterinarian Sarah Chance; Lieutenant Terrell Hayes; Secret Service agents Yvonne Greene and Easton; former Marine Tuktu aka Caribou, as well as Cody the wonder dog; Black Hawk helicopter pilot Ron Thomsen; microbiologist Joselyn Palmer, and Dr. Klein. The requisite evil has many faces.
DEADLY WEAPON is a fast paced, exciting, thriller with danger, death, and drama. Mark Nolan pulls the reader in to a pulse-pounding adventure of the hypothetical but very real possibility of the destruction of man-kind.
I am not exaggerating when I say that words cannot describe how excited I was to read another Jake Wolfe book. I am not even sure who I like more – Jake or Cody. They make the most intoxicating team of hotness and stealth and mystery and intelligence and just… I think they could be my dream duo!
But alas, the Jake Wolfe series is only a tiny bit romantic. It is mainly suspense and action and thrill and edge of your seat, nail biting, page turning, HAVE TO HAVE!
Jake and Cody are on, yet again, a top secret mission to save… well, the world, and this story actually hits quite close to home with all that is going in our OUR world today.
Little did I realize how much of the book was based on actual events and real life, combined with the author’s amazing imagination; Jake and Cody’s mission is quite… realistic.
As per usual, the action is constant – where Jake goes, trouble tends to follow (as well as destruction). The suspense is… amazing. I mean, I have to give Mark Nolan props where props are due. How one can use words to create such imagery and suspense that leaves you on the edge of your seat, holding your breath – pure amazing.
I am a huge fan of the Jake Wolfe novels and Deadly Weapon did not disappointment.
Jake and Cody’s mission took us to new places; we met new (Ron) and old friends (both old in the meaning that Jake has known them for some time as well as in the meaning that past books have either introduced them or mentioned them); and we had an all new, world saving mission jam packed with action, destruction, rescues, and yes, even a touch of romance.
With the realism that is today and my favorite duo, Deadly Weapon is a can’t miss read.
Deadly Weapon is book 5 in the Jake Wolfe series and while none of them will disappoint; I do feel like you could read the book as a stand alone and not be lost, but I highly, highly, highly recommend picking up the entire series as some point! You won’t be sorry!
‘Deadly Weapon’ is the new book from Mark Nolan and is the fifth book in the Jake Wolfe series. If you love action-packed suspense novels, then this is a book for you.
Jake Wolfe is enjoying some much needed downtime in Alaska, Salmon fishing with his friend Tuktu, and his trusty sidekick Cody the Golden Retriever Support dog. But if Jake thought he’d be allowed to enjoy some peace, he is sorely mistaken, for it isn’t long before a Helicopter and a message from Washington D.C interrupts, cutting his break short.
His new mission -dangerous as always - threatens not only his life but those of innocent citizens, and everyone is counting on Jake and Cody to help save the day.
I love Nolan’s writing style, it is fast-paced and keeps you on the edge of your seat, with your heart pounding and a need to know whether he will manage to succeed in his latest mission. There is non-stop action, and the plot was realistic, and very prominent with the events currently being experienced in today’s society, and the threat is very real. It certainly as a reader makes you think.
I’m a huge fan of this series, and always feel a rush of excitement upon learning of a new addition to the collection. The imagery is always on point, and I can picture Jake and Cody clearly in my mind, and all the settings they encounter.
Perfect read for those wanting to read a good suspenseful book, or get stuck into a fast-paced series. Nolan is a master in his genre, and I can’t wait to see if there will be a sixth book.
Jake Wolfe is on a much needed break following the events of the previous book, but his peace and quiet doesn't last long as he is called upon once again to protect not only his life but those of the world when a group known as The Society have gotten their hands on a bioweapon that they plan to release over San Francisco. They have a team of rouge operatives that posed as CDC officials and got who got a hold of the influenza pathogen that killed over one million people in 1918. With what is currently going on with the world today with COVID19 - this book is scarily close to home, and for all you conspiracy theorist you love this book.
The moment that Jake and Cody step foot (and paw) on the helo that came for them it is non stop action from that moment onward! You are literally on the edge of your seat as you are thrown into all the action alongside Jake. Nolan has produced a book with a story that is very timely considering the global pandemic we are currently experiencing, and once again I loved the amazing bond that Jack and Cody have.
Deadly Weapon is part of a series but this book is able to read on stand alone capacity as there is plenty of backstory, but trust me once you read this you will want to go back to the start of this action packed series.
I have read one of Nolan's books before, San Diego Dead, but I definitely agree that you do not have to have read any others in order to pick up this book. When I read that one, I said that I wanted to check out more books in the series, and I regret that I haven't picked up any of the others until this one!
I still have to say that Cody, the dog, is my favorite character, which is not to take away from the human characters. I just think that he is so lovable.
I was also glad to read that Jake's love interest is still the same as it was in the last book I read, because I really came to like her! This book is definitely more action-packed than the last one I read. Jake just narrowly escapes death and then around the corner he is right back in to some sort of possibly deadly mess. So for those that are action fans, this will keep you on your toes.
This book's topic also seems quite timely with what is going on in the world right now. Whether that be accidental or not, any reader will find some comparisons.
I promise this time I will check out some of the other books in this series because the characters have now drawn me in!
If you have never read any of Mark Nolan's Jake Woods series you have no idea what you are missing! My favorite character is Cody, a war dog who is Jake's constant companion. Both Jake and Cody have PTSD and have retired from the Marines. This is one smart dog and a big pussy cat unless he is told to attack or happens not to like you!!!
Jake and Cody do undercover work for a secret government organization who use them as killing machines. The action starts on the first page and never stops!! A deadly weapon that will kill all life is about to be dropped on San Francisco! Jake has to find and destroy this virus--Of course both have girlfriends. Jake's girlfriend ends up involved in this episode.
I have read several books in this series and they have never failed to keep my attention and reading straight thru! It is a series but each one can be read as a stand alone!
Jake and Cody are out to save the world yet again! Jake Wolf is a former Marine who has been working secretly for the government for quite some time. His dog Cody is a former war dog who hasn't completely adjusted to being a civilian, and he works alongside Jake on his missions.
This particular situation hits a little close to home, especially in the middle of a global pandemic. Jake is sent to Alaska to stop an evil group from releasing an old pathogen into the world and killing millions.
Cody and Jake travel from Alaska, Hawaii and the California Coast in order to try to prevent the tragic loss. There's diving into sunken subs, jumping out of helicopters, and dodging grenades shot from drones. This is an action packed, nonstop adventure book, with wonderful sides of friendship and love.
Jake and Cody are at it again. While on vacation in Alaska, Jake gets new orders to head to Hawaii to stop a group from retrieving and using a new bioweapon. And as usual, Jake follows orders without question. This will not be an easy job, but that has never stopped him before. Jake will have to use every skill he knows, and it will be extra hard on Cody this time. But like Jake, Cody has never backed down either.
Another great story from Mr. Nolan. I love following the adventures of Jake and Cody. They never get old. Married to a former Marine, I know how loyal they can be and it was fun listening to the banter and camaraderie of Jake and all his fellow Marines.
Deadly Weapon is the perfect fall thriller. I have to admit, part of the reason I love the Jake Wolfe thrillers is his faithful sidekick, Cody. There's never a dull moment, and Jake and Cody are in a race against the clock to save the world. If you're looking for something that will get your heart racing (and doesn't involve a cardio class at the gym), then you'll want to grab this latest installment in the series.
Jake and Cody are inseparable and now they are facing a deadly virus that is threatening to wipe out humanity. All Jake wanted was to get some rest from recent events and take a relaxing fishing trip but here he is, finding himself in another intense situation.
Full of plot twists, drama, and action, this one is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. While it can be read as a stand alone, don't cheat yourself out of the other amazing adventures of Jake and Cody.
"Once he'd left the shore behind, Jake glanced back at the city, and all of the buildings and vehicles. So many people going about their lives with no idea a strange and invisible medical threat could kill them without warning. His troubled mind felt overburdened by too many secrets."
Jake Wolfe and his Marine service dog, Cody, are back in the 5th installment of the “Jack Wolfe” series. A great tale full of suspense and action.
Jake’s girlfriend, Sarah, is also back. A local veterinarian, and Jakes true love. Will they finally figure out where their relationship stands? Cody has a girlfriend, with a heartwarming scene for all.
Jake works for a secret branch of the government. Here’s where the story gets eerily like the year 2020. Unbelievable, based on facts that actually came true after the book had been written.
Jake is tasked with finding people and things that may unleash a deadly virus on San Francisco. Full of action and excitement as Jake follows the missions presented to him. Destroy it before it’s unleashed on the world.
Will the virus get out? Can Jake stop it in time? I love these characters. Well written, up to date on things going on in the world. An author that has done his research. The shock is still that the book was written before the outbreak of “Covid-19.”
A series that can be read as stand-alone books. I love this series. Can’t wait for more “Jake and Cody.”

Jake and Cody are fighting to save the world from a new deadly weapon that could wipe out everyone!!!!
It is time to relax a little, Jake and Cody are doing some Alaskan fishing. This is something the Jake and Cody do every year. His friend Tuktu, a fellow combat veteran, now has a fishing guide business. After pulling out a salmon, Jake removed the hook and released the large fish back into the river. Cody tilted his head up, hearing something in the sky. Shortly after that a sleek helicopter comes into view, and it is tearing up the sky, it is certainly coming fast. Jake knows that something is surely wrong. Jake removed his waders and checked his sat phone, sure enough, he had missed some calls. Guess I had better take McKay’s call, she must have something for Cody and me to take care of. Answering the next call, the familiar face lit up the video, “Is that your helo?” She nods and tells him that they have an emergency. Well, this was a short fishing trip, maybe next time. The next words out of her mouth were “Can I count on you?” Jake assured her that she could.
Cody and Jake say goodbye to Tuktu, telling him maybe next year will be better. Anytime old friend! Loading up on the helicopter, they find Ron was with Tuktu in Somalia, one of the best pilots around. Ron lifted off and took off faster than Jake had ever seen a civilian helo go. Nothing was said but Ron was wondering about his passengers. All he knew is that both were Marine combat veterans, and they were top-notch government “off the books” assets. As they flew all three are tense ready for the action ahead of them...
And the story begins…
What did I like? I have read the previous four books in this series and I have a ton of respect for the characters. Mark was also my guest featured author for November 2019. I enjoyed visiting with Mark and learned so much about his method of writing and how his series came about. His books are a work of art. His research is impeccable, and many of the weapons that he writes about are real. The background on Jake and Cody is so awesome. Jake is a Marine in honor of Mark’s son. He served in the 0311 infantry Marines and worked with an incredibly special Military War dog (MWD). His characters are never based on real people but imaginary characters that share lots of similarities to all Marines. My research when I was working on Mark’s interview was so interesting. The war dogs, the marines, the weapons, and the general information about the government assets kept me up late into the night reading all about them.
What will you like? As with the previous 4 books, the action is kick-ass and does not let up throughout the book. The characters are beyond amazing. His girlfriend, Sarah has come a long way in their relationship, which is enjoyable. Jake is such a handsome and loveable guy, he needs someone to take care of that side of his life, and it looks like he has finally found the right girl. The relationship between Jake and Cody is just nothing more than incredible. I had a friend on the Police force that worked and lived with her dog, so I understand a little about the connection between Jake and Cody. Trust, love, and respect are the key factors between them. This storyline is astonishing, especially with what we all are living through right now. It makes you wonder if this virus was an accident or something that happen on purpose???? Mark has done another tremendous job in bringing the boys to life once again for us. By the way, there is going to be a book six, “Key West Dead”! I sure do not want to miss that one! An excellent read that will certainly keep you up late at night.
Deadly Weapon is the adrenaline-charged fifth book in the Jake Wolfe series by Mark Nolan. I just can’t get enough of this series- and I don’t think I will ever tire of following Jake and Cody on one of their exciting ‘adventures’- so I hope Mark Nolan has got a well-spring of storyline ideas firing up his imagination, to ensure we keep getting new instalments of Jake Wolfe for many years to come. No pressure, Mr. Nolan. As this story’s title suggests, Jake and Cody are thrust in a race against time to prevent a deadly weapon of mass destruction from being deployed. They will need to use all their skills, as well as work with others, in order to save billions of lives. So as you can imagine, this proved to be quite a thrilling and action-packed read- with drama, danger, adventure, mystery, edge-of-your-seat tension, twists & turns, assassins, a power hungry madman, hidden agendas, secret organisations, violence, murder, gun fights, explosions, and so much more. I was pulled in right from the beginning, reading the entire book in one sitting- just so I could find out how everything plays out in the end. As with the previous books, this story is told from multiple POV’s- giving me a fuller perspective of what was happening. This allowed me to have a much richer reading experience, because I had so much more information to work with. Again, as with all the books in this series, the characters are truly fantastic- they are so well developed, crafted into fully-realised individuals with their own unique personalities, quirks, and flaws. As expected, I especially love how incredibly detailed and developed Cody’s personality is, too- it’s this attention to detail that really sets this book/series apart from others in the same genre! The story can definitely be read as a standalone- but as there are recurring characters, as well as important details which have helped to forge the characters, as well as containing backstory details- which really help to build a bigger picture and knowing what has happened previously, and how much Jake and Cody have been through together- would give you a far richer reading experience of this story. I could go on and on about every little detail of this fantastic book- but instead I will sign off here so you can grab yourself a copy and dive in asap- highly recommended! I can’t wait to see what Jake and Cody get up to next in “Key West Dead” (Book Six)!
Thank you, Mark Nolan for another riveting read!
Mr. Nolan, I was truly saddened to read your afterward and offer my deepest sympathy on the loss of your beloved brother, Marty. He would be so touched that you continue to write in his memory ❣

I just love the duo of Jake and Cody (ex-Marines)—especially Cody—these two are beyond engaging. Intelligent, fast, cunning, capable, but tender and hot at the same time! There is something overwhelming in the attraction of Jake—perhaps that “animal magnetism.” (snicker, snicker)
In this series entry, Jake’s Alaskan holiday is interrupted by a call to action not wholly successful…it will continue back home in the Bay Area. “He felt the need for some vitamin sea.” Anyway, it’s a nasty consortium of people bent on eliminating certain populations around the globe. The mission will be undertaken in fits and starts as they gain intel. Jake is a combat veteran, with an “above top secret” classification that has pulled him back before. Highly trained, athletic, weapons ready, and deadly, he takes Cody, war dog, along.
So much intelligence here, both in weapons, locations, and personnel, it’s scary—the narrative barrels through heart-stopping encounters (okay—some over-the-top action even) that has you groaning at the odds and cheering at the accomplishments. Page-turning, non-stop conflict that includes his best buddy Terrell Hayes (Grinds), SFPD Homicide Detective. This plot is just a little close to current global events and difficult to put down.
The author’s writing style has evolved, relaxed a bit in Book 5, letting that ole testosterone fly, and having Jake speaking more brazenly—irreverent—and I blinked several times, but even so, the well-plotted novel is descriptive, immersive, and prose laden. There is the thread of a romance between Jake and Sarah, Cody’s veterinarian, but he weaves that thread lightly through the outline to the adrenaline pumping conclusion that has you craving Book 6.
Yes, it’s a series, but this can work as a standalone. Enjoy the well-plotted and paced narrative as well as those wonderfully strong studly characters (man and dog). This one is for you and it’s out now.
FTC Disclosure: I received a complimentary review copy of this book from the author. These are my honest thoughts.

I don’t think there is anything I can say here about the Jake Wolfe series that anyone hasn’t already said. We all realize the greatness of this series. This new book does not let us down. It may have more action in it. Constructing action in words to help the reader “see” is not an easy thing, but the author has accomplished it.
If you read my reviews from his previous books you’ll find I fell in love with Nolan’s creation of his character, Jake Wolfe, from the beginning. He has created a character with loyalty and bravery and love of his country. One with strength and personality. The fact that Jake has his own burdens and uncertainties to deal with makes him more real than ever. But the kicker, the thing that makes him real to us, is his love of his dog Cody. His caring, his understanding, and his fierce protection. Most of us can identify with that. Most of us cannot identify with a dog so well-trained. The majority us just wish our beloved pet was as well-trained as Cody :)
I have only one thing that could be thought of as criticism. I’m just not sure a super strong action-hero constantly convinces themselves that they must and will be true to their girl. Maybe it was Jake convincing Jake. I don’t want his vet, Sarah, to disappear, and I do want him to be true to her so...what am I complaining about?
I’ve gone on and on about a character, but truth is, an author who has created a great character, one with enough personality to make he or she real to me, is what keeps me reading. It even makes me loyal to an author. It makes me constantly watch for another book. I hope one’s coming soon.
Deadly Weapon is the fifth action-packed adventure in Mark Nolan’s Jake Wolfe series. Jake is a former marine who can’t seem to sit still (or in this case, fish in peace) without getting roped into some top secret, high stakes mission. His service dog, Cody, is also a former marine and his training makes him an indispensable part of the team. The plot of Deadly Weapon centres around a biological weapon involving a deadly and highly contagious virus. So if you’re looking for a book that will take your mind off COVID-19, this ain’t it. But it’s a good story and for me being very aware of the damage a virus like that can do and how slow the process is to find a vaccine enhanced the tension and urgency of the story. I really like Cody, the dog. He’s very characterful and loveable! I particularly like the scenes that are from Cody’s point of view (the whole story uses third person over-the-shoulder narration, moving occasionally between different perspectives). From Cody’s perspective, we encounter the world primarily through scent and are reminded of his loyalty and drive to carry out his orders. In Deadly Weapon, we get to visit some great places including Alaska and Hawaii. In amongst the action, it’s lovely to get a sense of different scenery (and food!). For me, this is a five star book. I’d recommend this to dog people who enjoy fast-paced action! If you’re particularly after a virus-themed story this works fine as a standalone, but it’s an enjoyable series so why not check out the other books as well!
Deadly Weapon is the fifth book in Mark Nolan’s Jake Wolfe series and Jake and Cody are back to save the world! They are in Alaska for some hard earned time out, fishing salmon and taking in the awesomeness that is Alaska. Jake has turned off the rest of the world so it is just him, Cody and his friend Tuktu … but obviously, like always, something goes wrong and their services are needed … this time to stop rouge operatives who are working on a weapon of mass destruction. You can read the story as a standalone as the writer gives us a story in its own rights in each of the books but as there are characters that you meet from story to story and you will want to be part of the journey that Jake and Cody are on then I suggest you start from the beginning … I promise you will fall in love with both Jake and Cody and even if you are not so fond of dogs, you dream of having a dog like Cody so in this story I am really excited about Cody’s puppies! The story pulls you in from chapter 1 and you are thrown up in the air on a halo that takes you on one heck of a ride filled with action and danger and assassins while dodging hidden agendas and explosions … I love how the writer utilises the multiple POV’s as it helps us to go even deeper into the storyline, the extensive research he does for each of his Jake Wolfe books is mind blowing so that means every story I read I constantly keep pinching myself and I find myself wondering what if … Thank you for these tense suspense filled hours and I cannot wait to see what is next in store for Jake and Cody (and Sarah and Skye)!
Deadly Weapon (Jake Wolfe Book 5) By Mark Nolan 5 out of 5 stars
I loved reading the book Deadly Weapon (Jake Wolfe Book 5) by Mark Nolan. It is a story that from the beginning takes you on a non-stop, action-packed ride that is not over until the final page. It pulled me in, and I didn’t want to put it down. This is a series that I have loved reading since the first book. Jake Wolfe is back and what an adventure waits for him. He is helping to uncover and stop a conspiracy. Will he be able to stop those who have deadly and evil plans? Read this book to find out. This is a story that has action, danger, mystery, suspense, and even a bit of romance. Jake is a character who is intelligent, resourceful, and when sent on a mission has a fierce determination to finish the job. There are moments when I had to remind myself to breathe. The author does an amazing job of making both the storyline and the characters come alive. This story does have additional characters, many of whom know Jake or have heard about him. They have his back. Then there are those whose agenda is evil and has to be stopped. Don’t miss out on a story that will have you reading far into the night to find out how it ends. It is an exciting and entertaining story. I highly recommend reading it.
Wow I really enjoyed book 5 the Deadly weapon than the other books in this series. I have always liked Jake and Cody and how resilient they can be in minutes. These characters are amazing and the plot is intense. Jake and Cody are in trouble yet again trying to save the world. It seems like every time Jake takes a vacation its always cut short. Jake is Alaska visiting his friend Tuktu, a fellow combat veteran, now has a fishing guide business. While fishing Jake and Cody her something and look up and see helicopter come into view, and its coming in fast and he knows something is up. He checks his phone and notices a few missed calls and when he answers McKay asks if she can trust him and the next thing you know he is cutting his trip short to head back. After Loading the helicopter, they find Ron one of the best pilots around was with Ron was with Tuktu in Somalia. Where is Jake going? Can he catch the bad guys before they set of the deadly weapon that will destroy the word? You will have to read this story in can be read as a standalone but I advise to read all the books in this series….
Here we go again, another rip roaring adventure with Jack Wolfe and his loyal canine Cody as they face their biggest challenge to date. This is the 5th outing with our intrepid duo and when normal authors take you on a similar journey as in previous novels this author finds a new and exciting way to entertain and keep the reader enrapt in the storyline.
Our duo not only have to save themselves but follow the scent of the trail to find out who is behind the threat to save the human race. The author has picked a very topical subject to write about which adds to the storyline and really makes you think about current events which are happening in the world today.
Mark Nolan shows expertise and research in how agents work in describing the thoughts and emotions of both Jake and Cody. Obviously with any thriller there is a romantic side to the novel for both Jake and Cody.
There is not a lot more I can say about this novel without giving anything away, but if you are a fan of Jack Reacher you will love Mark Nolan.
All the books are individual stories but all take you to a different place. You will fall in love Cody and once you have read this story you will be looking forward to the next instalment.
With ghosts you call ghostbusters. In this fifth book in the Jake Wolfe Series by Mark Nolan when the US government black black ops group POET Society is out of options for "solving" problems, they call Jake Wolfe and his dog Cody to come to their rescue which results in an intense emotional thrill ride of action and suspense, plus a little more developing love story between Jake and his vet turned girlfriend, Sarah. Of course, Jake is NOT known for staying between the lines of black and white and often leans way over toward very very gray to reach a resolution of a problem. It is this straying outside of strict guidelines that lands Jake in trouble more often than not, as is the case in this story where he attempts to find a livable solution to keeping a maniacal group of leaders from unleashing one of the most deadly toxin combinations on the world to achieve their ambitious goals of worldwide rule. As with all the stories in this series, the author continues to pay much homage to the service and sacrifice of our armed forces, the problems of returning veterans including K-9s, and the appreciation for law enforcement in general. I look forward to reading book 6. This is a voluntary review of an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from Hidden Gems Books.
In Deadly Weapon, book 5 in the Jake Wolfe Novel series, the tension continues to build as Jake and his war dog Cody set out to locate and destroy another group threatening the world. A group with a biological weapon so powerful that it could wipe out humankind as we know it. With each new mission that Jake undertakes for the POETs, the President’s Operation Emergency Team, the stakes increase, as do the personal risks for Jake, Cody, and everyone they love and care about. As they volunteer to search out and destroy these people and the diabolical weapon they have created, Jake knows that this may be the mission that he and Cody may not survive, but his sense of justice and of loyalty forces him to take on the mission. Little did he know at the time just how much this mission would change his and Cody’s life forever. Since there are six books in this series, we know that Jake and Cody survive against all odds and take down the enemy. This mission changed his life and the lives of his friends. How were their lives changed? Were those changes positive changes or negative changes? Read Deadly Weapon to find out. This book is a must read for everyone who loves a fast-pace thriller with a realistic plot line. This story is one that could happen in real life today!
Deadly Weapon is the fifth book in the Jake Wolfe Thriller series and can be read as a stand alone. Reading the previous books does help with the character development but is not necessary for the story and plot line. Action, danger, and trouble seems to follow Jake and his ex-war dog, Cody and this time is no different. Deadly Weapon focuses on something we have all recently dealt with...a global pandemic of a deadly virus. Now Jake and his beloved sidekick/dog must get to the bottom of who/what has caused the spread, and ultimately get it stopped before things get worse. I did like this one more than the previous ones as it was somewhat relateable and had alot of issues we face going on in it. That being said, what can Jake NOT do? He has done so much in just five books, and keeps changing careers and gets his hands dirty in everything he does. I like the action and danger, but it becomes unbelievable and makes me lose the immersion that I love in a book. Still a great read and plenty of people will love this series for the fast paced craziness that always happens. I still adore Cody most of all, he is such a loyal and clever companion and always knows just what to do! I will continue the series to see what other trouble these two can get into next.
Well there goes that relaxing fishing trip… One phone call and those infamous “Can I count on you?” words take Jake and Cody from a relaxing Alaskan fishing trip to a race to save the world.
This one hit close to home, with all going on in our world today there were more than a few times I sat thinking about things I had just read. The action and suspense was vintage Mark Nolan, I love this series. The progression of these characters, even the secondary has been amazing to watch. I was worried about Jake and Sarah as they have been written to this point but there's always hope and this installment gave that to me. Cody is with no doubt one of my favorite characters ever. Every time I pick a book up in this series I pray because God forbid anything happens to our Cody!
You can absolutely read this as a stand alone but don't. You really get to know these characters by reading the books before and why not? It is an amazing series and this author hits each one out of the ballpark. I read this in one sitting because putting it down was impossible!
So excited when I saw there's another coming...I can not wait!!
Deadly Weapon Jake Wolfe Book 5 By Mark Nolan ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ This is such an intense story. With what is going on in the US, this story touched life as I know it at this time. This is a must read!
Jake Wolfe and his trusted partner Cody are at it again. They are a great team and I swear Cody reads Jakes thoughts before they are said. What a Strong powerful team. I want them on my side, that's for sure! Jake is fighting against time and what could be the end of the population as we know it. Evil has entered and it must be stopped. One criminal at a time. Read how this thriller plays out.
Mark Nolan once again graced my tablet, with this suspenseful story. It is a page turning book you will enjoy as much as I did. Jake and Cody are the best characters in this story. But they are not the only ones. This story has many groups for and against Jack and Cody. You will also get all the feels, laughter, sorrow, anger, and even a little romance. When Jake is not jumping from planes and swimming in the ocean. Sure wish I could give this book more than 5 ☆'s! Well done Mark Nolan, Well done!
