Hello, my name is Brady Longmore. Thanks for stopping by my page and having a look at my work. I am a native and lifelong resident of South East Idaho. As far back as I can remember I have been fascinated by tales of the paranormal, and mysterious legends. I have always relished those cold chills that spill down the spine during a good ghost story. And the sense of mystery and wonder that tickle the imagination when hearing eyewitness accounts of a Sasquatch sighting, or a UFO encounter. A little over twenty years ago, I found myself on a train ride to Budapest, Hungary from an outlying town in the Hungarian interior. I was returning to America, after being away for two years, and wondering what I was going to do with the rest of my life. Before I knew it, I had a notebook open and ended up spending the rest of the trip outlining an idea for a novel. It was to be the first outline of many. It might have taken a while but, finally, here I am. I hope you enjoy my work. I can't emphasize enough what your support and patronage means to me.
Loved this book! This is going on my shelf of all-time favorites. It has action, adventure, romance, fantasy - what more could you ask for?
Set in current times Jake is a photo-journalist who has recently lost his wife in an airplane accident where he was the pilot. Although she survived the crash, she mysteriously disappeared.
When a friend talks him into guding a group of hikers into the same area another girl disappears under mysterious circumstances.
Joined by Brooke, a Life Flight nurse, he continues searching for the missing women after the police investigation stalls. The more they learn the more apparent it becomes that there are people who will do anything to stop them from finding out the truth.
I couldn't put this book down because there was never a dull moment. I was on the edge of my seat and loved every minute of it. I definitely recommend this to almost anyone - you'll find something to enjoy in this book.
The 5th Corner is another excellent book from an excellent writer. Brady Longmore tells a most engaging story about a cast of very relatable characters. As they become your friends, within the first few pages of the book, you become too invested in their lives to set the book down.
I appreciate Brady Longmore's ability to entertain and uplift while keeping his reader's attention, all the way through his stories.
This book has so much going on, so interesting, great detail, likable characters with natural, believable dialogue. So much research has obviously gone into writing this story. I found it to be different from anything I've read, very original and imaginative. It's funny at times and heart pounding at others, Brady Longmore is truly a gifted author!
3.5 stars, rounded up to 4. The protagonist's character is muddy and sometimes contradictory. Is he a hiking guide, or not? It seems unlikely. No guide would ever let a client set out on the trail wearing flip-flops. Ever. Neither would he still be wondering, well into the hike, how much he's going to be paid. People who work independently, believe me, always have that worked out in advance! Finally, I seriously doubt that even an amateur guide would take a party of five, three of whom are newbs, 25 miles on day one. The romance between Jake and Brooke is problematic. It's a rollercoaster, all in one day, going from getting hot to forget about it, and everything in between, all in the space of one day. They feel like soul mates. Then they're mad at each other. They argue about who will stay onsite versus who will go into danger. It's not attractive. There are other problems, too, including the obvious absence of an editor. Run-on sentences and punctuation mistakes are common. Also, be forewarned that there is no ending. This book is the first part of a series, designed to set up the next part, and nothing more. Despite the above, the story has promise. Many of the elements, such as a portal into another dimension, aren't new; but they are put to use well. This is an intriguing tale that keeps the reader guessing what will happen next. Will Sissy ultimately want to come back? What will happen when Brooke meets Maggie, and who will Jake want to be with? I confess I'm a wee bit tempted to try Book 2.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading The 5th Corner! Brady is masterfully able to engage the reader in a story that is hard to put down. I was impressed with how quickly I was able to understand and care for the characters in the story. Through their experiences and character traits, one naturally feels a kinship with them and the hardships they face. I was skeptical that I would enjoy the chapters in Underheim, but I quickly came to look forward to them as much as the adventures of Jake and Brooke trying to make sense of the events that occurred in the Medicine Falls area. This is definitely a book I would reread and I am glad I already have books 2 and 3 so I don’t have to wait for them to ship to continue with this whirlwind adventure!
While the writing and plot leave much to be desired at times, I am invested and looking forward to continuing the trilogy. The characters seem incredibly superficial and I’ve grown exhausted of the word “freak’n” but the plot and setting are strong enough to leave me wanting more! I generally don’t love fantasy/sci-fi, but I’m definitely excited to read more about Sissy, Jake, and Brooke!
