At twenty-three years old, Hartley Bennett seemed to have it all. She was a small business owner who was engaged to the love of her life and expecting her first child. Being the youngest of her parents’ four kids, Hartley didn’t have to navigate through life blindly. With two feisty sisters and an older brother, she had all the tools for survival that she needed. They always had her back but the one thing they couldn’t shield her from was heartbreak. Everything that sparkled wasn’t glitter and she learned that by experience. Through learned lessons, triumph, and tragedy, Hartley found out that the greatest relationships were the ones that you never expected to be in. Having three kids of his own, Karter was ecstatic about Hartley bearing baby number four. Although his immediate family didn’t agree with his sentiments, Hartley made him a better man. Doing the right thing wasn’t always easy but no woman had ever captured his heart quite like she did. There are no secrets that time doesn’t reveal but honesty was never one of Karter’s strong points. Making life altering decisions for others turned out to have dire consequences for him in the end. Karter took pleasure in the suffering of others but pain never feels good when it comes back around.
Doing people wrong came with consequences, but it never feels good when it comes back around.
This book was off the chain! So much drama and action! Hartley was young but definitely not dumb. She knew what she wanted, what she would, and would not accept. Karter messed up with a good woman, and couldn't accept her moving on......especially when he found out who she moved on with. Karter sowed so much discord in EVERYONE'S lives to the point where I just wanted someone to put a bullet in him already!! I am so glad Fab was thorough, and stayed down with Hartley. Having a solid man, and a good family made a world of difference in all of this craziness. Definitely a must read if you like non-stop action and drama.
What a ride!!! If you don’t have Chenell Parker’s books on your TBR list you are missing out!!! Sis is a STORYTELLER!!! Jeez this was such a good read! I laughed, I cried, I cringed and my jaw stayed dropping!! This was 487 pages of pure amazingness!!
The restaurant of Karma was serving up her best dishes in this book! I’m talking about an all you can eat buffet of Karma! True to her signature style, “When it comes around” had many moving parts and many characters. They were all a crucial part of the story’s success but I can’t put them all in my review. It would be a never ending review.
The book centers around Hartley, Karter and Fab (Fabian). Hartley and Karter started out in a relationship despite her brother’s warning that nothing good would come of their union. It took 3 years into their relationship for secrets to be exposed and the truth to be revealed. Karter was probably the most delusional, problematic, self serving character of ANY book I’ve ever read. I mean he was like a tornado destroying everything and everyone in his path all because he couldn’t quietly take the L for the problems he caused in his life. It was everyone’s fault but his own. This nxgga was RUTHLESS 🥴🥴
After Hartley was left barely recovering from the damage fxck boy Karter caused, she was blessed with an amazing man, heaven on earth….Fab. Whew BDE was present and accounted for!!! One of my favorite quotes from the book was “Being submissive came easy when you were submitting to the right man. Everything he did was done with her in mind and she didn’t mind following his lead.” Fab was simply THAT NXGGA!!
I love reading books where we get to see the evolution of the relationship, the dating the babies the marriage and not the struggle only for the HEA to be crammed in the epilogue. This was a full well developed story that left me satisfied.
I honestly felt sorry for Janae. She might’ve deserved an as$ whoopin or 3 for the drama she caused but Karter did her dirty and that was probably the one thing in the book I couldn’t get past. All she did was expose secrets and aside from the drama she caused with Niko she really did Hartley a favor regardless of her motives.
I’m already scoping out my next read from this author because I know reading her books is a guaranteed good time!
Chenell Parker drops nothing but fire when she releases a book. Her standalones covers everything and don’t leave you wondering. Everything about this book was the bomb. Karma will always come back around to bit ya in the rear end and most ppl in this book found out the hard way. I cannot wait for the next book to drop.
Chenell Parker comes through again. As the title states “When it comes back around”, most people aren’t ready and Karter was definitely not ready. This story kept my attention from the beginning to the very end. This book was well written, very detailed and touched a lot on family love and loyalty. The bond that the Bennett family had was amazing. Everyone that Karter tried to destroy leveled up and had great endings, while he just got served with his karma. Great book Ms. Parker and I’d definitely recommend this book to read.
This book was so good and almost perfect... The length of headache that was inflicted upon everyone until Karma came along was so well developed, researched and written made this book super good. Hartley was the best. Even though she was young and the baby of the bunch, she knew what she wanted and she never deviates from what she felt her principles to be. She set the bar up on front and she kept her words when things are going the wrong way. Strong, independent, smart, loyal, and Harbored was just a few of her traits. Perfect main character. Fabian "Fab" was bae and the bomb. He came along around the best time for Hart and it just went uphill from there. Strong, yet loveable, loyal and a boss alpha man. Everyone in this story were the bomb. The tight knit family unit that they was so refreshing even with all of the drama that each side had going on. This was such an inspirational story and such uplifting and everyone got exactly what they deserved, specially Karter and Sheree. The rest were dead weight for karma, but she handled herself very well. This is what I like with w Chenell Parker book: 1) you always get an uplifting story, 2) there is always a message with karma visiting, 3) you get inspiration to move forward with your life, 4) and you get great characters, 5) finally you cant seem to get enough of reading that writers work because you crave it. MS. Parker is in a league of her own and I am just glad to be part of this journey. Can't wait for the next book to come out!!!
What can I say... Chenell never disappoints! Hartley was an ideal character for me. She was close with her family and didn’t deal with the bs. Her only flaw was being so stubborn at times, which is relatable. Now that Karter... he was downright disgusting! He played under so many people and caused so much pain! He couldn’t move on in peace, and as a result, he drug people down with him. I’m happy Fabian turned out be EVERYTHING Hartley needed in a man. He didn’t play at all!
Without giving away too much, I will say that this book had me wanting more! It was refreshing, packed with drama, comical, and well developed! I really enjoyed how the story flowed and how the scenes didn’t drag. Chenell always detail her stories without overdoing it, and this book wasn’t an exception. I highly recommend this book if you’re looking for substance. The storyline wasn’t rushed and the pace allowed me to fully understand each character without it becoming boring. Kudos, Chenell, kudos!!
Meh........It was typical Chenell Parker. It guess if it does broken don’t fix it. But I’d love to see her switch up her plots/characters and do something different. Her books are all the same. Don’t know if I’ll read another book written by her again. Good author just complacent. The story was predictable and drawn out 🤷🏽♀️ skipped ahead lot. 3 stars for sure. I will say her editing is on point
This book was a crazy a** mess and I loved every minute of it. I didn't expect this book to have the twists and turns it did. I didn't put it down! I couldn't. It was so entertaining and just messy. Drama doesn't even begin to describe it. This was my first book by this author, but I will definitely read more.
Straight five stars all around. Title matched the storyline and the graphics added a nice touch. I love how even though it has a happy ending, it wasn't happy for a few people.
Ms Parker can't do any wrong. This book was so good I read it in one day. Great character development, family drama, secrets, and other twists to keep you on your toes. Totally loved the story and Fab and Hart were relationships goals!
Hartley was really a sweetheart who didn't deserve what she had to go through because Karter didn't want to accept the consequences of his actions. I love the bond that Hartley, Niko, Remi, and Zuri had and how they always had each other's backs. I absolutely love how they never disrespected their father Nicholas and they along with their mom Lynette never gave up on him. Karter always took everything to the extreme especially what her did to Janae, Jalisa, what he tried to do to Nicholas, and caused what happened to Mr. Armato which has me real deal crying. I like how Eunice never took sides between Audrey, Ida, Fab, nor Karter but tried to get the to stop being envious and get along as a family. Jay wasn't playing any games with Karter on nor off the streets . Fab and Hartley was so good together and I'm glad that Hartley got the chance to experience real deal love like her siblings. Frankie was a straight fool that kept me laughing. This was really a good standalone.
I finally got a chance to read this book and it didn't disappoint at all. I loved the storyline as well as the character development. As the title states "When It Comes Back Around" and boy did a lot of karma come back around for some of these characters. I loved how the author started out with a budding relationship, to drama then bam Karma starts to fall in place. Great bond between Hartley and her siblings they definitely had each others back no matter what. Karter was a snake and only cared about himself. It was all about what he can gain and it didn't matter who got hurt in the process. But he learned the hard way and realized those he deemed his enemy continued on with their lives regardless and in the end he got what he deserved. All the dirt you do eventually will come back ten fold when you least expect it. Fab was the better man for Hartley and I was happy that their relationship grew and included a future full of lifetime memories. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend reading. Great job Ms Parker.
Lawd I didn't want to put this down. Man Karter was bitch made as I don't know what. He tried justifying his wrong doing but couldn't seem to accept the role he played in the demise of his relationship with Hartley. His momma and sisters got on my nerves as well. I liked Hartley but she should've taken heed to her brothers warning. Zuri and Remi were a trip but stayed down for whatever. Fab came through and showed Hartley she couldn't always judge a book by its cover especially without taking the time out to get to know someone. Fab had to deal with unnecessary drama because Miranda was definitely delusional. Whew karma came through with a vengeance for Karter. He never took into consideration the problems his actions caused until it was too late. The situation with Mr. Amato had me grabbing some tissue because he'd made so many good changes in his life. Omari had me worried for a while but Rel got just what he deserved. Hartley and Fab experienced so much because of Karter but I was glad to see that got the happiness they deserved.
Man this book is the definition of karma for real. You honestly can't expect to do soooo much bad stuff to people and come out on top, who would have thought... Karter!!! He is the one that messed up the entire book but wanted to reap the benefit of a real nigga..not!!!! Now I was rooting for him but he just couldn't do right so I had to let that go. Now that mama and sisters of his were just ridiculous and needs real live therapy but Hartley was not phased by them at all and I loved that. Now Mr. Fab stepped in and showed all us how a real man treats a woman he wants. He never gave her family bad vibes and plus his parents and dad's side of the family loved her. That was definitely the big difference in the relationships. Fab did exactly what a real man was supposed to do for his lady...encourage, love and build her up no.matter the situation. Definitely love Chenell Parker and this was no different!!!
This book was FULL of surprises, and I'd like to jump right into Karter because karma was his name. He was captain save a you know what until! I can't get into this review too much without spilling the tea. The title definitely serves the purpose because it keeps coming back around to Karter AKA Mr. Karma. Hartley wasn't the best judgement of characters in the men department but her cut off no nonsense game was strong!! I never saw Fab's character blossoming like that he surprised me because after losing out to his cousin I pictured him as a punk. This is a very good read and the adventure starts when you see how everyone is connected. Well planned and executed writing is presented here. This is the first time I've ever cheered on a side chick and Jalisa proved to be a stand up girl, you can't judge all family and this proves it. I was glad she got her happily ever after too. Very good read and of course you have to meet Hartleys best friend.
Karma is most certainly what this book Should've been called wow
Everything and then some happened This why I say be careful who give you heart to your time..
My only thing took to long that's my only problem with this story but other than that most certainly put me in my feelings..
But also happy that main Character Hartley was not weak at all like that doesn't take but once not 2 or 3 times before she walked away... I do understand why got the abortion but still you put in the book she gets pregnant again quickly after having one was crazy but that is something that does happen actually know someone who actually went through the same thing she decided that she would not do it again even if her and guy didn't work out I'm glad she has that same Epiphany in the end she finds
Fab all that time his mom spoke about all that time only for him to be the one she really needed
I'm not going say much recommend this Author read this story...
This story was messy as hell, but loved every second of it! That Karter is the president of the f**k boy club! Just total disregard for everyone, and refused to take responsibility for his own ish! Karma came back for that ass big time! Hartley was catching hell with her bad choices, for boyfriends. But she lucked up, when she gave Fab a chance. He was just the type of man she needed. Whew, finding out how small the world is, was shocking. Drama, drama, drama! However, the love and support, they showed each other was consistent and solid. Loved the relationships between Hartley and her siblings. They were the epitome of I am my brother\sister's keeper. That Frankie was a riot, but a great friend to Hart. Bravo! 👍👍👍
As always Chenell you did an awesome job. I loved this book from beginning to end. Fab and Hartley made a beautiful couple I loved the bond they built. Omari finally got her happy ever after with Kevin. This book made me laugh, cry, and mad but the best part of all was when karma met Karter at the door. Him and his cousins got just what they but as well as Rel I hate it had to end but loved every page of it. Already wanting another book. Keep up the awesome work.
Chenell Parker did it again. She is a master storyteller. Her stories always come full circle, leaving you feeling complete. I went through so many emotions as I read this book. Hartley’s actions at the beginning of the book had me side eyeing her. However, I was able to get over my feelings. I actually liked Karter, even though he was a hot mess! Unfortunately, he just would not get himself together. This book was very entertaining and well worth the time.
A Grand Slam!!! This author writes great books and i love it. I loved the way Fab never gave up on Hartley. She was in a toxic relationship and I'm happy she got away. Karter and Karma became best friends. Janae was another victim of Karter's evilness. Omari had it bad for Big Ugly. She almost missed her blessing being so love struck. I loved the closeness Hartley and and her siblings had. Ida was bitter and still living on the past. I enjoyed this book from beginning to end.
Can you say DRAMA and KARMA!!! Karter was really a hoe ass nigga!!! Like how you have your cousins kill your baby with no remorse!! His whole family is evil minus Eunice Audrey and Fab!!! His actions lead to his demise!!! I’m happy his got killed. Hartley family and her don’t play no games!!! You mess with one you mess with all and they will kick your ass!! I’m happy that her and Fab is together because she needed and real nigga in her life. I’m happy that Omari got out of her toxic situation and fought for her life!!! Great damn read!!!
I have never been disappointed. When reading a Chennell book. This story was excellent. Karter he got everything he deserved. Finally DEATH. I loved Hartley and her family closeness. Glad that her dad was able to bounce back and not fall victim to Matters plan to kill him. Fab. was that Man light skinned. Lol.. But so many crazy characters to live. Including Frankie Secret gay self. Hartley had a big big heart and was such a blessing to Mr Armato he so loved her. Excellent read
Ah man Ms Parker did it again! I couldn’t put it down! It’s was drama after drama from beginning to end! That Karter was a piece of work! I’m like damn when will he let go and move on! He just did way way too much. He was very immature, childish and hateful. All the characters in this story had something going on, good and bad. The karma is real. This book is definitely a page turner as always. I also liked that this book is a standalone! Looking forward to whats next from Ms. Parker!
I’m never disappointed in a Chenell Parker book. They keep getting better and better. Hartley was bad ass. She didn’t take mess from anyone. Once Karter showed his true self she cut him loose and kept it moving. My man a Fab was all that and more. Hart kept winning and haters kept winning. No one does karma and payback quite like Ms.Parker. I love to see people get the karma they deserve. Bravo to the author another 5 star read.
I was so excited when this book dropped and it didn’t disappoint. She always delivers an entertaining and thorough standalone. I have literally been re-reading her catalog for the past few weeks. When it Comes Back Around showed us the inner workings of karma. I love the close knitted relationship amongst Hart and her siblings as well as Fab and his parents. There was generational drama and generational levels to the karma!
This was an alright read. Chenell Parker is a beast at writing. Although this wasn't my favorite, it held my attention and had a good ending. I didn't understand why Ida wouldn't let go of the past. It was sad to see how Karter couldn't let go either. The horrible things he did to others was a new low. I am so glad the two female sisters got what they deserved especially concerning Jalisa. All in all, definitely recommended.
