The 82-page paperback book, if not double spaced, would be a pamphlet, rather than a book. The material in the text was used for discussion by my Hiram College online book club. "How To Be An Antiracist" was the book discussed. In the book, Ibram X. Kendi discussed personal and nonpersonal events that are common among non-Caucasians. Yet, those not dark-skinned have difficulty believing such incidents often happen. They do. Kendi's family is not uncommon for negative incidents inflicted upon black children and adults. He offers such comments as, "There are no dangerous racial groups, but there are dangerous individuals in each cultural group." This we have seen throughout history. I appreciated that Kendi brought religious teachings into his book. It is with positive anticipation I look to the future when there is consideration and compassion for everyone, no matter the color of their skin. Kendi's book is aimed in that direction.
