Stolen Warriors #0.5

Changing Her Luck

Rate this book
I have lousy luck. Like, the worst. I could list all the reasons this is true except my journal is back on Earth. Where I’m not. Because I fell asleep in the wrong bed and woke up on an alien planet. To make matters worse, a massive blue alien with fangs and muscles takes me hostage. Now I’m stuck on a spaceship with him, but instead of taking off my head, he’s promising to protect me and care for me. I want to believe him, but my former captors are after us space-chase style.

I wish I could relax with my new blue guy and maybe see what else about him is large and in charge, but I’m Lousy Luck Lea. Unless something goes my way for once in my life, we’re doomed.

This was a fine book— listened in the RMR podcast and it was largely enjoyable. It *did* feel like an Ice Planet Barbarian rip-off a bit, but maybe I just don’t read enough alien romance? Idk man he was blue and purred and had a spur🤷🏼‍♀️

Listened to on the Read Me Romance podcast.

Steamy little short with fated mates, and forced proximity to a point, insta-love and magical tattoos.

In the end it raised more questions than answered them in regards to the Drixonian warriors series it belongs to.

Are all their penises/tongues pierced?

Are all the dudes virgins? Seriously, though, I know he's an alien and their society is based on some mate for life thing, I think, but I frankly enjoy in hetero romance if there is going to be a virgin, can it please be the dude sometimes. (That sentence, upon reflection, probably makes no grammatical sense. Whatever.)

Are there queer aliens?

These are things I must know.

A short but very good introduction of the Stolen Warriors. It’s like the prequel for the Drixxonian Warriors really good but to short. It leaves you with the urge to read more and I hope this series will follow the same path and will get better and better with each book, each stolen warrior and each Cora Eternal.
I am looking forwards to meet them.

PS
I hope we will get to know how this couple arrives at their destination.

A prequel to the Drixoian world. Explains some vocab used and some of their life philosophy and world history. It is also a short and sexy story of a Drixoian and his human.
To actually enjoy this story I had to go to podcasts on apple and listen to part one and two of a podcast called “read me romance”. I just might see what other audio they have for me.

**Update… found a free copy of this book. After reading “Fenix” there was a link at the end of the story for a book funnel copy.

Innocence of virgin hero: 4.5/5 (again! How do I rate a guy who has never touched a female and never jerked off or cum BUT has had in depth classes on how to pleasure a woman in bed!? Is he totally innocent or a pro!?)

Innocence in losing it: 4.5/5
Build up to losing it: 5/5
Hotness of losing it: 5/5
Busted touching himself: no
POV of losing it: female

A very short novella offered free from Maven to enhance the TWO series that are interwoven.

In this story, Trawn is a slave in the mines for over a decade when he spies a human female being sold. He intervenes, finding in her a reason to live, and rescues her. Stealing a ship, he gets them off-planet, but the bad guys are after her - she is valuable as a breeder to them.

But Trawn and Lea have time to get hot-n-heavy between the escape and the fight when the baddies catch up to them, and of course Trawn defeats them and they live HEA. Naturally.

It's fun to read, and a stand-alone, but be aware that the situation, his people, the slavery, the aliens... they all make more sense if you're familiar with the FIRST series. Just sayin'.

I listened to this audiobook on the Read Me Romance Podcast. Changing Her Luck is an alien romance book and it kind of reminded me of the Ice Planet Barbarian Series but this one was just okay. It wasn't bad although the plot and characters weren't that great and I didn't really like the female narrator.

So, if I described to you a book, written in 2023 with a large blue alien, horned, with a tail, and some piercings... and a woman who fell asleep in her bed, and awoke captured on an alien planet? You'd think I was talking about pure perfection- Ice Planet Barbarians? Yes.
Apparently I am also talking about the entire plot of Trawn. There is nothing particularly wrong with Trawn, and I thought the narrators were some of the best I've heard this year. I will likely read more of the author - but I don't know. I just felt like why go diet alien when you can just read the entire 21 book IPB series plus her Space Corsairs series by the master Ruby Dixon?

I listened to this book on the Read Me Romance podcast. This is the first book I've read by Ella Maven. I found it fun. It was a mix of action and down time. I saw the end coming a mile away but it was fun nonetheless. I may check out more of Ella Maven's books, especially if I'm in the mood for aliens.

OH MY FUCKING GOD THIS WAS TOO FUCKING GOOD. alien romances are always so FUCKING good for what reason. the worldbuilding was lowkey so good even though this was a novella and the mmc was so fucking hot. my favorite thing about sci-fi/alien romances is that the author can make the love interests literally into anything they want, and so they always make them like living sex toys. and you know what, i'm here for it. (also this book is another one in the category of making tails hot. cardan greenbriar, and now this guy. i may be sold on them.)

Listened through RMR podcast. Not bad, just not enough there to make it good. It seemed more like a few scenes of a full story rather than it's own novella. It starts when the action has already started and ends as soon as they hook up. I might have enjoyed more if it was more developed. Though maybe not, as I wasn't really a fan of the narration either. I am interested in the series though, so may go back and read the full books.

Rather short at only seven chapters; with an ending that seemed more happily-for-now than happily-ever-after. And given that it's the prequel to a new series, I'm hopefully we'll see this couple again down the road. There's a lot of action that occurs and quite a bit of world-building that goes on, plus a pretty steamy instalove situation. Definitely worth the read, especially given that it was a free offer.

An interesting start to the second half of the Drixonian world! I wish there was just a bit more to the story but I have a feeling we’ll see them later on in the books….also him knowing Shep makes my heart so happy! His decision to go to Corin instead of Torin will most likely be the best decision Trawn will make. I loved the introduction to the Plikins and I have a feeling that when Trawn was mentioning the bad things that could happen to Lea (the pleasure house, the pit, etc) those are the stolen warriors we are going to see in future books!

If I didn’t have one complete series about the Drixonian aliens under my belt, with all of their back stories, I don’t think I would have enjoyed this novella as much. It is the beginning of another series, which I will definitely read/listen to.

If you’re not into alien romance, this probably isn’t for you. I’d recommend reading Drixonian Warriors (series) before starting this series since that’s the publishing order and this one seems to follow in the timeline of events for the characters.

I listened to this audiobook on the Read Me Romance Podcast and read the ebook. I love the chemistry between Lea and Trawn. This is the introduction to Ella's spin-off series Drixonian Warrior series which I'm a big fan of. It was a fast pass and a short read that I really enjoyed. I can't wait to see what she has in store for the Stolen Warriors.

Trawn is the prequel book to the Stolen Warriors series. It is novella length and a quick listen at 1 hour and 39 minutes. This is an off planet alien romance with the male alien with his v card. I enjoyed the book. It was a good introduction for what to expect with the series. I will be continuing on to book 1. The narration was fine. No complaints.

3⭐️’s : 🎧 Read Me Romance 🎧

I’ve said before that I suspect a certain alien romance series has ruined me for all others. Fairly or unfairly, this story just cemented this suspicion as fact, as I couldn’t help but mentally draw comparison after comparison as the story unfolded.

I first heard the audio on the Read Me Romance podcast and have to admit, I was a bit hesitant at first. I haven't before read an alien romance, and wasn't sure if I would like it, but I stuck with it and I adored it. I would highly recommend especially if you have a weakness for fated mates.

A little boring but I just wanted to get through it to understand the role this character plays in a later book. It was a fine short romance, but didn’t appeal to me completely because I prefer a little more action and suspense.

I think it okay it doesn't hold a candle to her other series the drixonian universe but I think thr issue is the book is sped too fast up and there isn't must to the book itself to tie you to the characters.
