Better Than Jesus
Better Than Jesus can be a tad misleading. The truth you will find in this book is that it’s not misleading but leading you to what you may have missed. Jesus is amazing, and He says Himself that there is more for us. Jesus wants to introduce us to a miraculous life. This book unpacks what Jesus has been telling us the whole time—that the only thing better than Jesus with us is Jesus within us.

Better Than Jesus helped me view the Holy Spirit in a new light.
Over the past few weeks, I have unintentionally been reading Holy Spirit themed books and doing Holy Spirit themed devotionals on the side (I didn't even notice until I was reading this book). The main theme of Ty Buckingham's book is "Jesus left so that we could have the Spirit and be better than Him; not for our glory, but His." And he drives this home by showing that Holy Spirit's presence has always been in us, but in our flawed human nature, we have neglected to let Him do His work. To be better than Jesus is to recognize that He is not the finished line. He is the bridge from the Father to us. And the Holy Spirit is our guide through the Way.
As much as like the teachings of this book, I had an issue with the tone of its writing. I've heard Ty speak and I bought this book after one of his sermons - then I started it three years later. Being so far removed from his tone of voice makes for an interesting read. He makes great points and follows them up with jokes/asides that make for a more conversational tone than this book needed. It was a bit distracting, but I also felt that had I read this like a week after his sermon, it wouldn't have been so jarring.
Overall, this was a great book with a lot of great points and takeaways, like calling the Holy Spirit just "Holy Spirit" to mentally change Him from being an entity to a person. It's small things like this that help root our relationship with the Godhead better. I would recommend this book to anyone trying to get to know Holy Spirit better, but know that this is set up as a devotional so it might be easier to read with a friend.

The perfect framework for the Holy Spirit
This book made it so easy to understand Jesus’s purpose and His empowerment for us to step into that purpose of sharing God’s love fully equipped, led a sanctioned by the Holy Spirit. Ty is a prolific author and gifted and has allowed himself to be used in a way that will impact many generations until Jesus comes. Buy those books today!!!!
