I heard about Full Stack Recruiter while I was interviewing for a Recruiter position this summer. Soon after I bought it and since then I can't get enough of it.
It is definitely an amazing guide every recruiter should have because it covers wide range of topics, going into so much detail with each social media network (where you can find tech candidates) and gives you clear directions on how to succeed in your sourcing efforts. The most hack thing I am currently using is finding e-mails on a Github. It also gives a lot of advices about personal branding and networking, which plays a crucial role in attracting candidates.
Each time I get challenging sourcing task I first "consult" with the Full stack recruiter and then begin my research. Without it, I would be wasting so much time (like I used to in the past).
I rarely write reviews on here but I think this book deserves it and any future recruiter deserves it too. I found out about this book from a job advertisement that said "Extra points if you have read Full Stack Recruiter" and of course it sparked my interest because it was the first case to see a book mentioned in a job ad. I researched more about Jan and the other 2 previous books and the overwhelmingly great feedback was the last check I needed to buy it.
The book has been a great help to me as a junior recruiter that has switched both sectors and countries. There are lots of practical advice given but at the same time the book style is not like "dry" as instruction guidelines which some business books tend to be.
Things that stood out for me were the diffracted less known sources for candidate search as VK, AirBnB and etc but also the possibility to get updates on the book once we register on the website. I think this is quite reader-friendly approach.
I can't say that I "read" the book in past tense as I continue to grab it when a recruiting question arises.
I heard many nice things about this book and I really wanted to read it. However, as someone who has already spent quite a few years in the agency recruitment space, I was not sure if I will find many new ideas and tips. I could not be more wrong!
It does not matter if you want to learn more about sourcing in particular platforms (including some in which you would not think sourcing was even possible, like Airbnb), candidate experience, referral programs, personal branding, etc., in this book you will find some valuable insights about any sourcing/recruitment topic possible.
I personally loved reading the first part of the book which is dedicated to sourcing and I strongly recommend reading it to someone who enjoys sourcing and wants to learn more tricks about it.
The book is great not only because it gives you lots of valuable information but also because it highlights the importance of being curious, keeping yourself up to date with the newest tools and tricks, attending conferences when possible, finding a sourcing buddy, and, in general, being open to learning new things every day. I feel inspired!
This book should be read and present in every recruiter’s Library (whether you’re a newbie in the field or an experienced one).
It covers every single detail from Comprehensive Sourcing on different channels, to the History of Recruitment, Candidate Experience, Types of Interviews, Recruitment Analytics and much more🚀
You can refer to this book every time when your sourcing technique isn’t working, you’ve forgotten the operators on different channels or you just want to refresh your memory. It can be a reference in every situation.
This book is so thorough. Perfect for a beginner recruiter or as a refresher for even the most veteran in the field. The sourcing section is loaded with juicy tidbits on how to open up your search using techniques that normally go overlooked. Highly recommended!!!
