This was a quick, easy, enjoyable Battletech story. It is one of the “Young Adult” stories, so the characters are teenagers, and the setting is a training academy. These aspects plus a few character traits push the YA label, but they are definitely sheltered, privileged teens even though some of them are supposed to be battle hardened.
The story is still enjoyable for a Battletech fan. The mech and infantry battles are here. This story also includes some action from drop ships.
The Combine main character is an interesting villain.

A Worthy Successor
I've been a fan of Battletech for over 25 years now and I loved this. The cadets in the book are smart, resourceful and detetmined. The combat is realistic. The characters are believable. It was just awesome.

A decent new Battletech book is always going to get my attention.

Book two of the Rogue Academy Trilogy. Picks up where Iron Dawn leaves off, nicely paced book.
