Lily McAllen has known nothing but hardship and rejection. Her brother, the only person she can lean on, takes a job at the Miller ranch. Now with no ally, she is alone, confined, and vulnerable. Even God has forsaken her. She becomes desperate to get away…by any means necessary.
Despite his best intentions, Daniel Hayworth is drawn into a fatal mishap. He feels responsible. And is prepared to do whatever it takes to ensure Lily is cared for…even if that means proposing marriage.
Complicating matters, Geronimo and his raiding band terrorize the surrounding areas. Troubles mount and tensions challenge the growing attraction between Dan and Lily.
Will they make it to the church? Or find themselves victims of lies, disillusionment, or the ire of an Apache rebel?
I’m a coffee lovin’, word slinging, clean Historical Romance author whose super power is converting caffeine into novels. I love those odd tidbits of history that are stranger than fiction. That’s what inspires me. Well, that and a good love story.
Loved how the author incorporated a bit of old west history into the book. The story kept my interest and the author brought in a number of intriguing side characters. Looking forward to reading more by Sara Turnquist.
A recommended read that I could not put down until I finished it. The plot and characters are descriptive and believable even in this time. I would recommend this book and the others in the series to be read.
Sara R. Turnquist has given us another interesting story set at the Miller Ranch and Wharton City, Arizona. This story shows you never know what happens when the front door closes. Neither Dan or Lily takes it easy on the other, secrets are hard to share at times. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to the next one.
