Fake Slackers was such a fun story. Yes, it’s predictable but that’s part of the charm of a high school danmei. The reasons why those guys (Xie Yu and Zhe Zhao) did what they did were engaging and the whole cast was lovely to get to know. The best thing was the sense of humour and how it turned our MCs into the weirdest situations. The was a bit angst thrown in too, but all in all it was a happy story from start to finish. It might be not everyone’s favourite but I absolutely loved its flow and how it gave me many funny moments to giggle, laugh or snort about. There were a few scenes that actually made me cry tears of laughter and I loved that for me.
I can highly recommended Fake Slackers for everyone who wants to read a book that makes them laugh.
I’m really disappointed. I tried to push myself to finish it but I just wasn’t invested in it. I want FEELINGS but what I got was funny moments. It’s not bad but it isn’t what I’m looking for right now. Sadly I had to drop it 12% (Chapter 12)

This is my second try to read because I can see it appeals but unfortunately it doesn’t appeal to me.
No geral, recomendo bastante a leitura.
This novel gives me a heap of nostalgia as if I'm transported back to my high school days. I like the fact that the author really capture the true essence of high school kids living their high school lives. Their playfulness and jokes always make me smile and laugh, especially when they're up to no good and causing trouble in class. And the best teacher award goes to Old Tang-laozhi! He's the perfect teacher for the underachiever and playful Class 3. The best parts are when He Zhao and Xie Yu secretly researching and going extra miles for one another to help "improve" each other's studying and grades (lmao) so that they can be together forever whereever they go.
The romance between He Zhao and Xie Yu was alright. But since they're the main characters, I wish they were written better by the author though, moreso on Xie Yu's character and personality. Why is he always so cold and indifferent? Why must he always kick and "bully" He Zhao? Sure, it's fine to be like that at first but shouldn't he warmed up and be slightly less cold towards He Zhao as time goes on? It's giving not much character development until the extras where they're in Uni and become "more mature" because well, they're grown up *sigh*. Also, maybe I'm old but I can't really see the mutual like and romance between HZ and XY. It feels like a one-sided romance on HZ's side (lol).
Lastly, I don't know if it's just me but the translation or writing feels quite stiff while reading the novel. The sentences and paragraphs doesn't flow naturally and smoothly, honestly, it kind of turns me off. Feels like it was heavily translated using AI with a little bit of editing done for some spelling and grammar errors. In fact, I've found multiple errors where Xie Yu was referred to as a "her" instead of "him" (lol).
Do I recommend this danmei? Yes, sure go ahead and read, but don't set any high expectations and treat it as a light reading.
Está agora no meu top3 de melhores danmeis colegiais/coming of age (SaYe, Bite Your Fingertips e Fake Slackers).
now i understand that fake slacker pave the way for school life danmei. its so good, its so funny, its made me feel fluttered until the end, no angst, just a bunch of students that want to pass high school and enjoy their teenage life. the chemistry of the mc and ml is on top and everyone in this novel is so loveable. worth the read.
Damn… daamn the uniqueness of youthfulness… its so goddamn beautiful. I cried in the end, because it hit me like a rock. Watching them grow up and having a coming of age was agh i cant put it into words, its incredible beautiful but it hurts sm because it reminds of my own life. Im going to college very soon and i will miss high school very much. I enjoyed the theme a looot. More than i thought? I found this story kinda boring sometimes because there weren’t any plot but i didnt even realize i became to like them and enjoyed watching them grow up. This was very light-hearted and i wanted some angst more but i think thats fine now when i finished it, its supposed to be like it is. I loved the main characters and XY was so aggressive LMAO. In the beginning of their relationship i felt it rlly one-sided? But as the story went on, i got to see their relationship develop and all the small acts they did 🥺. The teacher was soo aaghhh lovely and he made me cry with his speech. Everyone deserves a teacher like him. This story felt really nostalgic? Im sure its bc of the theme but im sure i will reminiscent this in the future with a smile.

Two desk mates determined to outdo each other in their race for bottom ranks in the grade. A twist on the delinquent x golden boy trope when they're both the delinquents with a touch of enemies to lovers.
Xie Yu has family angst and He Zhao guilt towards a friend led astray, it's rather flimsy cover for their slacker goals but the fun truly is these two falling for each other so unwillingly.
