He may be taller and stronger but he learns not to underestimate his opponent with her
KNOCKOUT is the first book in the Unlikely Matches series by Gabrielle Snow. This is the story of Azaria Gonzalez and Dr. Connor Kelly. At twenty-nine Azaria has found herself not doing what she had planned on. Two years ago she suffered a career ending injury during a MMA fight so she is now training and teaching instead. Not exactly the lucrative career she had thought she would have but she is making it work the best she can. She lives at home with her single mother and her younger sister Addie who they are putting though college so she can get her degree and have a good career. Connor is thirty-four years old and a veterinarian. He has the career he has wanted since he was a kid but he is also a workaholic who barely goes out except occasionally to have game night with the boys he went to school with. But those are becoming fewer as the other boys have grown up and gotten married or attached. For Connor he doesn't even exercise. When Azaria comes home one evening after her last class she finds Addie on the kitchen floor crying over Tyson, their pit bull dog. Tyson is obviously sick and has not moved all day. Azaria and Addie take Tyson to their vet only to find the clinic closed so Azaria finds another clinic a block away that is still open. When Connor first sees Azaria walking through the exam room door he is stunned by her beauty but has a job to do in finding out what is wrong with Tyson, arthritis. The following week Azaria is at the gym waiting for her beginners class to start when in walks the handsome vet, Connor. After taking some ribbing from his guy friends about not getting any exercise Connor decided to try out some MMA training. He cannot believe his luck that the beautiful young woman the he has met before is now going to be his trainer/instructor. Even though they have a lot of chemistry between them it will take a month before he finally gets the courage to ask her out and from there they have a wonderful night. But when Connor almost makes a mistake the next day at the clinic he freaks out and becomes a ghost to Azaria. He is going to learn that you should never cross a Latina woman as when she gets mad she will take a strip off you and when she is also an MMA fighter watch out because things will get even hotter.
I liked this short story but there was something a bit off for me with it also. I cannot quite put my finger on it yet but I think it had to do with Connor and the way he ghosted Azaria and then how quickly she accepted his apology after she confronts him late at night. I also felt that there were things missing from Azaria's mother and sister as they were sort of plunked in a couple of time to add some drama but otherwise there was nothing. With that said I still found the short story likeable and look forward to reading the next in this new series.
i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the story of Connor and Azaria. Azaria is a former MMA fighter who was injured and had to retire. Now Azaria works at a gym teaching MMA to kids and adults. When Azaria returned home one night, her sister told her their dog was sick. Azaria and her sister took the dog to their vet, but they were closed. They went to the nearest vet and meet Connor. Connor was a vet and was instantly attracted to Azaria. Connor's friends were always telling him he should get out more and he decided to go to a gym. Connor showed up at Azaria's gym and signed up for her class. Connor wanted to ask Azaria out and after training with her, he thought it was a good excuse to thank her for helping him. Azaria agreed and wanted to be with Connor, he was different from her previous boyfriends and she was intrigued by him. But Connor also worries about a relationship distracting him from work and he tries to pull away. I liked this book. I liked that Azaria was the strong one, both physical and mentally. I like how she was so strong. Connor needed to take a chance and live a little. Connor was content by himself and only recently wondered if he could have what his friends had. Good one.
Azaria coaches MMA fighting since she got injured and can't do it herself anymore. When she gets home from the gym one night her little sister lets her know that their family dog is sick so they rush him to the vet. Conner is the only vet still open when Azaria and her sister have their dog out. He is tired and ready to go home but when he sees her everything changes. He doesn't understand everything they are saying in Spanish but he figures its most likely about money. So he does what he can to save them some money on their bill. The next evening he goes to a gym a friend recommends and runs into Azaria and sparks fly between them again. Will she give him a chance at her heart? Can they be together with their different backgrounds?
This is an amazing story that will captivate you from beginning to end. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

Azaria is a retired MMA fighter - she had to quit when she ended up with a bad shoulder injury. She now is a trainer at the lical gym. She meets Connor, a local vet, when her dog Tyson is not moving.
Connor is immediately captivated by her at first sight. He gets to know her more when he joins her gym and she is his trainer and is even more impressed with her.
All it takes is one date and one hot moment to change how they feel about each other. However, if things were so magical between the two, why is Connor ghosting her all of a sudden?
This was such a great short read! I am absolutely in love with this couple and love that Azaria fights for what she wants!
Please add this to your library to see if they get their hea!
She had to retire from boxing because of an injury and his friends talked him into getting some exercise. They met when he took care of their dog and instant attraction. Then he sees her again in a class she teaching at the gym. After a few weeks he ask her out,and the next day all he thought of her and nearly hurt an cat at the clinic. That scared him and he didnt contact her, after a couple of weeks she came to him and had it out. Now they are working things out
The author has given us characters that are so busy living their lives that they really do not believe that they have time for any type of relationship. However, once Connor and Azaria meet, things will never be the same for either of them.

I was totally knocked out by this story. Short but very interesting, lovely characters and wonderful story line. Connor saw Azaria when she came to his clinic to treat her dog and instantly fell in love, he was a bit confused after their first date but I'm glad he reset his brain quickly. I recomend this book. Connor and Azaria meet at a time where they don't believe they have time for a relationship. All it stakes is one look though. This is a short and steamy read that will have you smiling.
This is a great opposites attract romance. Connor is a vet and azaria was A MMA fighter and now a coach. Will Conner ever get the courage to go for it?
Quick read, some issues with the writing but wasn't bad enough for me to put it down. I didn't realize when I picked this up that it was instalove which isn't my favorite.
Plot: Azaria, a retired boxer who teaches classes at the local gym, has to rush her sister's dog to the vet one evening. There she meets Connor, who is smitten with the beautiful fighter. Some time later, he walks into the gym with some friends in order to get some long-awaited exercise. Who is there teaching a class? Of course, it's Azaria.
Commentary: Not my favorite type of heroine. I don't need her to be completely helpless, but I don't like her to be tougher than the hero. But animals are always a good bet, and I do like a grovel. I mean, he just ghosted her! And to be honest, his grovel wasn't that good and she accepted way too quickly. But love is weird, right?
I enjoyed this short story So much. The heroine is strong and the hero is kind and gentle. I’ve come to really like short stories. The long, drawn out, full of descriptions of every little thing is tiresome. A short story gets right to the point. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving this review
Conner & Azaria were great characters. This was a fun, entertaining read. I loved it!! I received a free copy of the book. And am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.
