Travis Sterling has escaped a life of slavery and has attained incredible magical potential, but he is still vulnerable. What’s more, inheriting Odin’s mantle has automatically earned him a slew of enemies.

But now that Trav has power and freedom, he needs a plan. What’s more, he must explore who he is and what he is becoming.

His beautiful valkyries have given him an early advantage and good council, but they won’t be enough, not anymore.

The universe is a lot larger than Trav had ever imagined...and more dangerous. In order to survive, he’ll need to forge alliances, create new weapons, master his magic, and learn more about himself. Trav’s experiences growing up on Earth might not have helped much in the mines, but his checkered past might be the perfect resume for a newborn god.

A Veilverse Story

*Note: This series was written for adults. Asgard Awakening contains morally grey situations, polyamory, fantasy violence, and slavery.

About the author

Blaise Corvin

Blaise Corvin served in the US Army in several roles. He has seen the best and the worst that humanity has to offer. He is a sucker for any hobby involving weapons, art, or improv.

He currently lives in Texas, in a house full of enough geeky memorabilia to start a museum.

He likes talking about himself in 3rd person and posting pictures of himself holding tarantulas. Sometimes, he pretends he is not an idiot with a terrible sense of humor.

It's all very eccentric.

Blaise currently writes mostly in the GameLit genre and LitRPG subgenre, exciting new classifications of fiction where characters either play a game (usually VR), or live in a world with game-like elements.

Delvers LLC is GameLit, lightly LitRPG, mostly a Fantasy/SciFi Adventure. Secret of the Old Ones is hard LitRPG, complete with XP and leveling...plus has Lovecraftian and steampunk elements (because why not?).

Fun addition

The story remains an entertaining mix of cultivation (technically progressing through rune magic) and Norse myth. The politics and world-building fascinated me, which is noteworthy because those aren't two things I usually pay a lot of attention to in reading. If you liked the first one, you will probably enjoy this one even more.

Fun and fierce

First off, I really enjoy this series / universe! This author is very talented and one of my favorite of late, and I really wish I could have given this 5 stars. Unfortunately, it has multiple editorial mistakes (her instead his, Ashe instead of Ash, repetition, etc.). They weren't egregious but there were a few in every chapter. Also, and the bigger portion if my deduction, for whatever reason this story contained a lot if instances where the author expositioned by "telling" his readers events instead of "showing" the events. It made the flow a little rough, and all these combined kept me from full immersion.
(One last pet peeve: the characters are never really re-described in this book and only one duffee character gets her transformation / alternate form described. The others just "transform" and since I've read dozen of books since the first one, and it's been quite a bit of time, a refresher of appearances and capabilities would have been amazing. Even new characters aren't really described in detail, and that's part of my previous "tell vs show" content).
Plot wise, a lot goes on in this book and it clearly builds to crossover point from the companion series written by Mr. Arand. Our MC finally starts to throw himself into his role as upstart Odin. He recalls his past and ingrained hatreds but also recognizes its not sustainable or productive for his future. So there's stine definitely character development here, and two of his entourage also get a bit more depth throughout this book.
All in all, I'm excited to see where this series, and the Veil Verse collection as whole, goes from here. I'll definitely pick up the next installment!

The story starts were book 1 stopped. Trev is forced into action by circumstances, getting pushed into Asgard violent politics. Adjusting is not easy, involves violence and flashy magics. Harpy politics is complicated, even more when other Kin show an interest.

Enjoyed reading the book, as well as the personal arc for Trev, good character development. The harem part is not bad, but I don't think it adds much either. No issue with the world building even if it is not the most original. I always enjoyed multiverse spanning stories. The harpy politics was interesting and promising, but...

The resolvent of the harpy arc was a bit of a disappointment and felt extremely rushed. I get that you don't want a cliff-hanger ending, but now one storyline felt handwaved. At least there were personal stakes in the grand final. I also feel Trev's plot armour is a bit thick (making a believable mistake, but without lasting consequences), but that was only once so it did not impact my enjoyment.

In short, a good story and looking forward to the next parts.

If it's been a while since you read the first book in this series, you may want to go back and familarize yourself with it's contents, as when I picked up this one, I had a real hard time figuring out who was who for multiple chapters. I know my memory isn't what it used to be, and I partially blame it on that, but This story seems to have started again where the last one ended, with absolutely no references to what came before. I mean, nothing anywhere in the text. If I didn't know this was part of a series, I'd have thought it was a stand-alone book that just didn't start where I expect a story to begin. So, the short version of the review is: if you didn't read the first one, don't start here, it won't end well.
Other than that, it wasn't a bad story, and once I figured out what was going on, I rather enjoyed the book. I suspect most fans of the series will as well.

Another winner from BC!

It is difficult for some authors to write Harlit, or Harem Lit, without resorting to the commercials of modern fiction, the sex bits. Some may be well done, others define sad in new ways. As usual, Blaise Corvin hit well done and passed it!

Yes, there’s a harem. It’s actually a legit tool, and the story unhindered with infomercials.

The story is also getting better. I really liked the first book. I loved this second work. Corvin’s stories gets me to highlight more often than almost any other author.

If you are new to BC’s work, you are so lucky! You have plenty of time before you join us, the Awaiting. The rest of us are just waiting for more... yes, just more, Mr. C.

The MC has become a total idiot and more of a dbag. He still has anger issues

Also, he still going on about his ex wife AFTER 3 years!! Give it a rest dude, the readers don't care about your whining and constant fucking flashbacks!

A long time coming, but very well done. It was so long in fact that I had to go back and re-read the first one, and with that fresh comparison, I feel that this is a stronger book.

Shared universes are tricky, and the author isn't the fastest writer out there so by the time the next book comes out I may have to re-read this one as well. No hardship that, so I look forward to more Veilverse books from all of the authors working on them, whenever they get here.

a great addition to the veilverse.

I love reading stories in the veilverse. This book was great and is well worth its modest cost. I love the way it gives a different perspective to its sister series cultivating chaos, and I hope that it hooks up with take two at some point as well. I can't wait for the next installment.

Loved this book as well!!!

I really enjoyed reading more of Trav’s adventures with his Valkyries.

I also read the Parallel Veil verse books by William Arand and I must say, it was thoroughly entertaining to read about the same events from Williams Cultivating Chaos, but with Trav’s point of view.

Eagerly waiting for the next books

Kept me reading

I really enjoyed part 1 of this series as well as the Arand part of the story, so it should be no surprise that I enjoyed this one.
Part 2 was even better then into predecessor, Trav started to accept his role and there was less brooding which is a big plus for me.
I’m really eager to read part 3 when it comes out.

Great addition to the veil verse

I love how dynamic a character Trav is in terms of coming to accept who he is. Glad to see he is finally there. Also appreciate the additional info on the veil verse and what is actually happening. Ash is definitely being left in the dark by Locke.
Can't wait for the next one, even if it takes another year.

This is one of the most fascinating book series I've ever read. Asgard post-Ragnarök is a unique and intriguing world run by monsters and humans are little more than playthings. With gods being reborn and the fight for the survival of the entire Veilverse on the line, Trav and his people have their work cut out for them.

The story gets better

The story of travel continues as questions are answered and even more asked. Everything about this story was great, action, dialogue, character growth, very excited to see more of the veil verse from all 3 authors.

Nicely woven tale (or is that tail?)

Having read the cultivating chaos books I knew some of the fixed points in this story but rather than ruining the surprise I was excited to see how we were going to get from here to there.

A really fun and exciting way to experience a story!

Most excellent

Blaise really has his own style of writing, and it is fantastic. Scene-craft is nailed down in his stories, and the only problem I had was it felt three chapters too short.

Even better than the first

I thoroughly enjoyed the first book, but I loved this one. Trav grew into his own gloriously and it was fun to come along the the ride. Looking forward to the next one. Hoping to see him bring some Dokkalfar into his inner circle.

Trav gets some good news for once.

The more brutal of the two parallel stories has some happy moments. The political stuff is light enough to be ok for most readers, but with heavy enough to keep others interested.

Excellent read

If you want to get the most out of this excellent book , then reading the first one would be advised. Good world building action. If you liked this then you should try the authors delver's series too, which I also recommend.

Great sequel

Love the character development and continued world building! The magic system is awesome, what I expect from a Blaise Corvin novel. Travs continued changing and growing really makes sense, and Tiffany is an awesome addition. Can't wait to read more!

Loved it

Fast paced page turner with interesting characters that you can instantly root for. I had to reread book one before reading this one and I enjoyed it just as much as the first time I read it. I can't wait for book three. Highly recommend this series

Great follow up, and awesome world

Between these books and the others in the veil verse, Corvin and Arand are setting up a fantastic world/universe... veil verse. As with the first Asgard book the Norse mythology is a great background for a bunch of action and a great story.

Not LitRPG but good fantasy novel.

Not quite what I was expecting. However, still a good read. This latest addition has the newest owner of Oden‘s mental learning to fill some really big shoes…

Great two books

Two books so far in this series. Just finished #2.
Really enjoyed both.
Earth guy swept off to another dimension. Learns magic, etc.
But it's done in a new matter. I really liked it..

Amazing!

Loved the new info we got on the whole gods situation and makes more sense only wished we could have kept Najila in a bit longer, but I hope Rahim becomes a little monster and help Trav in the future or even Tiffany.

Another lively installment in a good series.

Another lively installment in a good series. The story has gotten better and the characters are solid. This is a harem series so be warned. Now to wait for the next one.

DNF 30%

It's been a while since I read book one. After a third of the book, I've no idea what's going on, and very little is happening anyway. If you want to read this series, I suggest waiting till it's complete and then binging it.

Corvin's a talented author, but this is a miss for me.

Where is book 3?!

This was an awesome sequel that was better than book 1. Now where is book 3? We are finally seeing Trav step into his mantle and I can’t wait to see why he does next
