Flicker to Fire

Rate this book
Beyond the broken wall, a fire has begun to burn ...

Outside the refugee center in Kébec Village, the border wall separating the New Republic from the Nation continues to crumble. On one side, Neve Hall and Micah Ward are Sans Murs operatives, documenting cases of the Nation's human rights violations as escapees arrive. On the other, Isla Pryce has begun a ruthless mission to purge the Nation of Sufferers who, like Micah, have been unfaithful to their vows.

Then she arrives: Blythe Thatcher, a mysterious young woman on the run from Isla's vicious Inquisition Board. In Blythe, Neve sees a way to help Sans Murs further its cause--and rid the Nation of its callous Suffering system once and for all. But when the Nation uncovers their plan, the struggle that started as a flicker quickly turns to fire, and only Neve and Micah can extinguish the flame.

This is a Young Adult Dystopia Romance, and this is the 3rd book in the Crimson Sash series. I have read and review the first and second book in this series. This book is full of action and very fast pace. I love that this shows how much love can overcome. This book has so much suspense and action which is different then the other two books in this series. I think this is a great ending to this series. I have to say I really enjoyed reading this book series, but I really think this is a series you need to read in order in order to really understand what is going on. The books in the series really play off each other. (*)

Flicker to Fire (Crimson Sash #3) by Amanda Marin

The third and final book in the Crimson Sash Series by Amanda Marin. Out of the three books this is by far my favorite. We get to see an ending to Neve and Micah's story. I honestly didn't want it to end.

Neve has come to terms that she may never be free from the Nation. Things get worse before they get better. When others from the Nation show up they aren't exactly kind. The quote I choose for Neve is: “Blythe’s out of surgery. She made it. She’s still unconscious, but she’s all right for now.”

Micah is finally with his parents, but things aren't as good as they should be. They're far from a family, but that changes soon. Micah learns the truth about his father. He helps with a plan he shouldn't be involved in. The quote I choose for Micah is: “Not Joah … he should’ve left Joah alone …”

This is by far the best book in the series. Amanda has an amazing talent for writing. This will not be the only series I read by her. I do highly recommend this book and tissues. Don't forget the tissues.

Bless Amanda and this series. I'm so thankful for the day I decided to pick up North to Nara. The Crimson Sash series reminds me of why I fell back in love with reading. And Amanda's writing is so beautiful that I love even the most mundane parts of the story. Neve and Micah will stick with me for a long time.

At it's heart, The Crimson Sash series is about love and the freedom to choose who you want to love. North to Nara and Sky to Sea was the story of trying to escape a past that forbid Neve and Micah loving each other because of the roles society wanted them to play. Flicker to Fire is when they finally say enough and choose to fight back. Even though this series is a futuristic Dystopian, it couldn't be more relevant to the World today.

Flicker to Fire is a bittersweet satisfying conclusion full of hope and love. I've got to say, there were some dark moments, but I think there's only one or two things that I sort of predicted. Otherwise, the story never went how I thought it would. It was a pleasant surprise. It definitely kept me on the edge of my seat and staying up past bedtime to read 'just one more chapter'.

Triggers:

Thank you, Amanda, for this wonderful series. Thank you so much, for including mental health as a real thing that touches so many lives, mine included. Thank you for always acknowledging and responding to my excitement and posts about your books. And thank you for allowing me to read and review Flicker to Fire. My eyes are on the Amazon page for the minute I can order a physical copy! And here's to all your future books and stories I guarantee I'll be reading! 💖

Flicker to Fire is the exciting conclusion of Amanda Marin’s Crimson Sash trilogy. I’ve somehow ended up binging the series in a day and a half because I just couldn’t put it down, and whenever I finished a book I HAD to know what happened next. Seriously good.
Crimson Sash is a dystopian YA series which follows Neve Hall and Micah Ward, whose love for each other is forbidden by the strict rules of the Nation they both come from. Their feelings for each other, and the painful consequences of their relationship, have helped them to see the deeper flaws in the Nation and how it is run, and they can’t let things continue as they are.
In Flicker to Fire, Neve and Micah work within Sans Murs, an activist movement fighting for freedom of movement between the Nation and the New Republic, and seeking to put an end to the human rights violations in the Nation. The focus on Sans Murs allows for an interesting exploration of activism, with characters conflicting on the best methods to achieve their goals, and balancing protecting individuals and fighting larger-scale issues.
This book is full of twists – it really kept me on the edge of my seat. I remember noticing I was getting near the end and thinking I knew how things would wrap up – I was very wrong!
I’ve really enjoyed this whole series, and this is another five stars from me! I’d definitely recommend reading the books in order (starting with North to Nara) – you’ll get a lot more context that way as well as a chance to build a connection with the characters. I’d recommend this to teen and YA readers who are concerned about social issues – Marin uses speculative fiction to shine a light on many issues and explore some “what if?”s, as well as showing many aspects of activism with relatable and inspiring characters.

Flicker to Fire (Crimson Sash Book 3) by Amanda Marin

5 Stars

I have loved loved loved this series. I already can not wait to read them all again. I didn't know how much I loved the dystopian genre until picking these up. I don't advise reading them out of order or as stand alones, the story is so heartbreakingly beautiful from start to finish that you would not be getting the full impact without reading them all.

I hate that this series is over but I love that it is because it is perfect the way it stands. This 3rd part had me all messed up, my emotions were all over the place and thinking I had things all figured out so many times and being wrong as many times made this part a slight favorite of the 3. I felt while reading like I knew these characters, felt like I was standing right beside them during this entire journey. I will not soon forget them and I already miss them!

I love the way this author tells a story, you find yourself totally immersed and real life just doesn't come into play, I could not put it down and lost a few hours sleep to finish it.

Do yourself a favor and one click all 3 of these books that give you 1 story that I know you'll want to read again and again!

Flicker to Fire (Crimson Sash Book 3)
By Amanda Marin
5 out of 5 stars

I loved reading the book Flicker to Fire (Crimson Sash Book 3) by Amanda Marin. It is a story that pulled me in from the beginning and I was hooked. I have loved reading this series since the first book. I love the characters of Neve Hall and Micah Ward. They are both brave, strong, and have a fierce determination that the Nation’s human rights abuses do not go unpunished. Neve and Micah are characters that you can’t help but root for them to succeed against the Nation. They stand up for those who seek freedom and escape. They also have a love for one another that is undeniable. What does the future hold for Neve, Micah, and the New Republic? Read this book to find out. This is a story that had me turning pages wondering what was going to happen next. It has both heartbreaking and heartwarming moments. I found my emotions going up and down the entire time that I was reading the book. I enjoyed reading about the additional characters that each have their part to play in the story. The author does a wonderful job of making both the storyline and the characters come alive. I felt like I was right there with them. Don’t miss out on an exciting and entertaining story that I didn’t want to put down until I had read the final page. I highly recommend reading it. It is the third book in a series and to fully understand all that transpires it is best to read the stories in order.

At the beginning of this I am devastated that these two, who have been through so much, are again facing similar problems. I thought they were finally going to get their well deserved happy ever after..then as the story progresses we find out secrets and surprises that make it all worth it. Making this is the perfect ending to this series! I was pleased to book back up with Micah and Neve to see how they were doing. It was lovely seeing the emotions that run between Micah and Neve. The compassion that Micah and all the Sufferers are capable of just never fails to amaze me.

The story is wonderful. We meet many new characters and say hello to some past ones. I am sad but glad this series is over because I am not sure my heart could handle much more. I said it from book one. These two characters were beautifully written. They really make you believe and feel for them. The Epilogue is a nice final look.

By Amanda Marin

I have really enjoyed this series so far and so glad that I decided to give up a go when I saw the first book being recommend. Flicker to fire was a fantastic read and definitely my favourite out of the series (the others are great too)! I have taken Neve and Micah into my heart and I have loved reading about them. The author has really brought their story to life over this series. There was also a new character introduced into the story too which was great. A few unexpected twists and turns too made this story really difficult to put down at times I wanted to keep reading to find out just what was going to happen.
I definitely recommend that this series is read in order and I will definitely be making sure I read more from this author again in the future.

Flicker to Fire: Crimson Sash: Book 3
by Amanda Marin

This book had me hooked from the start and I couldn't put it down until I got to the end. I have loved this series since the first book and every book just got that much better. It is my suggestion that you read these books in order for the best experience and you will get to know Neve and Micah that much better. Neve and Micah are two very strong people and they have been through so much to be together and in this book they want to fight back. What will happen when they do? There were unexpected twists and turns in this story. The author did an exceptional job making me feel like I was right there in the story. I found this book to be entertaining, heartbreaking, emotional, and hopeful. I highly recommend this book you won't want to miss out on this wonderful book and series.

I was excited to get my hands on this finale to a wonderful series from Amanda Marin. Flicker to Fire is the perfect way to end Micah and Neves’ story and I was not one moment disappointed until I realized that it was all over. We have followed these two as they traverse their forbidden relationship in the dystopian world they live in. In this one we get another adventurous story that is full of obstacles they will have to overcome. I was on the edge of my seat the entire read and was so enthralled that I found myself up way late into the night to finish this book in a solid sitting. I am excited that this was such a fun series for me but I am also excited to now see what else Amanda Marin has to offer and available in the very near future! This is one you do not want to miss out on!

This is the third book in the Crimson Sash series and although it can be read as standalones I do however recommend reading the whole series, you won’t be disappointed I promise. Neve and Micah have been through so much heartache all they want is love and freedom. Find out what happens next in tbis absolute must read. I really can’t wait to read more from this author.

Flicker to Fire (Crimson Sash Book 3) by Amanda Marin, is the culmination of the Crimson sash series. I have to admit it didn't actually go the way I thought it would, I think it went a whole lot better. I always like to be surprised; I always like it when the ending is a little bit different than what I imagined. Neve and Micah have fought a hard fight for love. You can't leave this book unread. I have enjoyed this series for the wonderful story that it is, but also for the parts of it that reflect our present society.

Marin has captured my attention with this series and this third chapter was everything I hoped it might be. I’ve loved the journey Marin has taken me on through each installment and this latest edition - perfection. Each story can stand on it own; truthfully, I don’t know why you would stop at one. Once you dive into this world, you will want to read them all. A fantastic read that my YA, dystopian, fantasy, romance loving heart simply devoured!

Flicker to Fire is the third book in the Crimson Sash series by Amanda Marin. It is an original futuristic, dystopian, YA fantasy- with sci-fi elements, action, adventure, drama, intrigue, friendship, romance, politics, violence, social justice messages, human rights issues, emotion, and lots more.
This book follows on from the first two, with a bridging storyline and many recurring characters- so I really recommend reading the first two books before starting on this one, to get the best possible reading experience of this story.
I have followed the series from the beginning and have been eagerly awaiting the release of this book to continue the adventure. So much has happened along the course of these three books- so I couldn’t help but get caught up in everything that transpired here and what the characters were going through. Amanda Marin certainly knows how to spin a riveting tale and held me enthralled the whole way through.
I don’t want to reveal any of the plot, past or present- just in case you haven’t read any of the books yet, as I really don’t want to give anything away that may spoil the story for you- except to say that if you love dystopian, YA, or future fantasy- then you probably won’t want to miss out on reading this book/series.
I wonder what Ms. Marin has planned for us next?

Thank you, Amanda Marin!

Flicker to Fire, is book three in Amanda Marin’s ‘Crimson Sash’ series. It continues the story of Neve Hall and Micah Ward which began in the first book, ‘North to Nara’ and continued in ‘Sky to Sea’.This is a Young Adult dystopian fantasy series set in a dystopian world with two waring factions the ‘New Republic’ and the ‘Nation’. The couple find themselves in Kébec Village, the refugee centre, and as Sans Murs operatives they begin documenting all of the the Nation's human rights violation cases as the escapees who arrive at the centre tell them of their stories. However the border wall separating the two factions is crumbling and with it the safety it provides. Meanwhile Isla Pryce’s mission to purge the Nation of Sufferers is just getting started and as Micah has been unfaithful to his vows he is at risk from the vicious Inquisition Board. When mysterious Blythe Thatcher enters the village having been on the run from Pryce, Neve believes she can help Sans Murs further its cause, and help rid the Nation of its awful Suffering system. Once the Nation uncovers their plan, however, the warring factions struggle which started as a flicker quickly turns to fire. Neve and Micah are the only ones who can extinguish the flame but it will be dangerous. No spoilers, I recommend you read the book and the two previous novels in this series.
This is a well written book with a solid storyline, great characters and it moves along at a fast pace. I was gripped from page one and found myself totally immersed in the dystopian world Marin has created, thanks to her amazing world building. Neve and Micah are a great couple who ultimately just want to be together and live in a safe place peacefully. I found the couple likeable, realistic and with a ‘normal’ relationship amidst this dystopian world. I was cheering them on throughout the book and I really cared about their outcome. Blythe was a fascinating new character. Marin has a way of writing and describing the characters that makes you as the reader really get to know them and care for them.

I am voluntarily reviewing this novel after receiving a free copy.

Actual rating: 3.3 stars

Like the first two in the series, this is a pretty even-keel, inoffensive novel. It lightly touches on several dystopian themes, but is mostly centered around the romance between the two main characters, which remains fluffy and sweet. It can be a little odd at times that these characters are so invested in each other/will go to any lengths to be together when they've only known each other a few months, so if that sort of thing bothers you...well, you probably didn't make it this far into the series anyway, but it's going to remain true here.

As with the second, I liked that this story touched on a few practical things that most dystopias don't, namely that the initial pushback against the dystopian society happens in a pretty civilized way, with other nations interviewing victims, processing their testimony, and then moving forward with sanctions and such. Highly thrilling and action-packed? Not really. But it's realistic, and kept the story grounded. It also gives room for quieter moments/arcs, like the development of Blythe. I was definitely invested in her relationship with Silas (and as another reviewer mentioned, it was too bad we never saw them getting together again).

Eventually, of course, we do get a bit more action. Like the other novels in the series, the action in this feels a little too easy and contrived. Things happen because they need to happen, the characters have connections and get where they need to because that's what the story requires, and everything resolves without too much fanfare. Something kinda silly happens near the end - a certain character does a complete 180 seemingly without that much motivation - but it's forgivable.

Overall, if you liked the earlier books, you'll enjoy this too. It's not an explosive ending by any means, but it does wrap everything up pretty neatly.

Flicker to Fire (Crimson Sash Book 3) by Amanda Marin. This is the edge of your seat ending to Amanda Marin's Crimson Slash trilogy. Its a young adult series that will keep you turning pages way past your bedtime. Neve Hall & Micah Ward love each other even though their relationship is forbidden. They are working with Sans Murs a activist movement fighting for freedom of movement between the Nation and New Republic. On Isla Pryce they have begun a horrible task to purge the Nation of Sufferers who have been unfaithful to their vows just like Micha. Neve wants to do away with the Nations Suffering system once and for all. Neve & Micah are brave, strong and very courageous and they are fighting with everything they have. Will love be enough to keep them together and safe or will they lose the battle and lose each other in the process? This book will have you on the edge of your seat until the very end. Wonderful exciting story.

I enjoyed this book. This is the third book in this series which can be read as a stand alone but I highly recommend reading all of them from the beginning. This is my favorite yet in this series. This is a well developed story that has characters that pulled me into the story right from the first chapter. This is an engaging story that I read in one sitting. I had no issues connecting to the characters as they brought the story to life. Neve and Micah are back in this story. Their story is full of hope and love. It does get a little dark in a few spots but the twists and turns kept me sitting on the edge of my seat just waiting to see what they would do next. There is a lot they go through in this story so I highly recommend reading it just to see. They are great characters that make a great story. This was a great rainy day read and I highly recommend it.

Flicker To Fire by Amanda Marin
4 Stars!!!!

I am so bad at reading series out of order. I did this again with this book as this is book 3. I didn't feel to disoriented by doing this. I felt that the author did such a great job bringing the characters to life that I could easily follow the story line and had a good sense of what was happening and what may have happened previously.

The chemistry between Neve and Micah really is the underlying part of this story and the drama that surrounds them and their family. I felt that the author really draws in the reader and the twists of the story along with the world that has been created just keep you on the edge of your seat. I felt as though I was there and part of the story as I got further and further into
the story I just couldn't put the book down. I hope to read more from this author in the future.

Flicker to FIre by Amanda Marin is the third and final book in the Crimson Sash series. I highly recommend reading the books in order because the story lines flow from the beginning to the end of the series. This book is a great conclusion to this series. Neve and Micah are operatives for Sans Murs and are trying to create a better world. The problem gets explosive with the conflicts gaining steam. Will they be able to extinguish the fire before it's too late?
I have enjoyed the development of Neve and Micah through the series and how they have grown in people with strong beliefs and loyalties. The setting is dystopian with a twist of fantasy but is not so unrealistic to be relatable. I have enjoyed this series and was happy with how the series was ended. I look forward to reading more from Amanda Marin in the future.

Flicker to Fire by Amanda Marin is the 3rd book in the Crimson Sash series and was a great installment to read! I'm pretty sure this was the final book in the series, and if it was it was a great conclusion to a great series! You will definitely want to start with the first book though, or some of the events and past remembrances won't make sense. It took me a while to remember what happened in the second book. The characters were great, the storyline was amazing, and this is the kind of book that makes you wary of what the future might hold if somet things don't change. I definitely recommend this series! It was a great read.

Flicker to Fire: Crimson Sash: Book 3 by Amanda Marin is a YA dystopian fantasy story. It is a bittersweet tale and sadly the end of the series. It is both heart breaking and heart-warming and is engaging. You really need to start at the beginning with the first book and work your way up to this one. The story is wonderful and full of many new characters as well as those from the first two books. Amanda has done a wonderful job with the two leading characters who are beautifully written. The journey they have been on has been fraught with heart ache and I have never seen two people more deserving and who all they want is love and freedom and are finally fighting back.

Flicker to Fire by Amanda Marin is the third book in the Crimson Sash series. This series does need to be read in order as each story follows on from the other. This book is a brilliant conclusion to the series and easily my favourite book of the 3. It was so easy to fall right back into these characters and their journey. From the minute I picked up the book I was excited to see how it would end.
The author has created a fantastic world with such lasting characters in them. The story was exciting and had a bit everything you could want in it. I thoroughly enjoyed this whole series and would definitely recommend it.

This story is a well written dystopian fantasy book. Amand Marin did a fantastic job with the details. The elements of the story are action, adventure, drama, violence, and friendship. This YA kept my interest from the first page until the last page. This book is my favorite of the series. Neve and Micah are back and are full of hope. I felt the love between them throughout the story. I was at the edge of my seat, wondering what will be happening and prepare for it. I felt like I was right there with Neve and Micah. Will Neve and Micah accomplish what they set out to do? I highly recommend the entire series. This one can be a stand-alone but I think that you will enjoy all the stories
