Rate this book
A hit-and-run. A frozen body. A missing ghost. Can this psychic defrost the truth?

Talking to ghosts is a secret, but when a sorceress catches her in the act, Mandy Rowling’s world turns upside down. Sara Abe, a detective and a local sorceress discovers Mandy’s ability. Sara asks Mandy to teach her how to speak to ghosts. A group of tourists on the Midsummer Spooky Tour found a frozen body in a bamboo forest. But the body was not part of the tour.

The big question: How did someone freeze to death in the middle of summer? The bigger question: Where is the ghost?

Join Mandy, Sara, and Jackie the ghost as they try to solve not one but two deaths that happened during a hot Kyoto summer.

Talking to ghosts is one thing, but getting caught is another. Delightful as always.

What can I say Lotta Smith doesn’t write a bad book and this one is definitely up to standard.
Again set in Kyoto two murders to solve, one seemingly impossible with many twists and turns.
I think the prologue does make it rather easy for the reader to solve, but nevertheless a great read.

Mandy and Rick Rowling are still living in Japan where they have started a branch of USCAB. Mandy was caught talking to Jackie, her BFF ghost, by Sara Abe, a detective with the Kyoto Prefectural Police Department, who also happens to be a onmyodo sorceress from a long line of sorcerers. Sara has asked Mandy to teach her how to talk to ghosts. A frozen corpse has been found by Sion Toyota while leading a spooked tour through the forest as part of Central Kyoto Tours owned by Mrs. Lisa Takano whose husband was a recent hit and run victim. After investigating both bodies Mandy and Sara feel there is a connection between the two deaths. Anna Gato is the body found in the bamboo forest. Her husband, Ken Gato, owns a warehojse of freezer storage spaces which makes him # 1 suspect. This story has lots of twists and turns. I have enjoyed watching the characters develop in this series. I received an advance copy. This is my honest review.

This installment, number 23 in the Paranormal in Manhattan Mystery series, is set in Japan. We learn a little about Japanese customs. We catch up with Mandy Rowling and her BFF Jackie, who happens to be a ghost.
Sara Abe, a detective and a local sorceress catches Mandy talking to a ghost and would like Mandy to teach her how to do it. She figures it could be helpful with her vocation.

A couple of frozen bodies are found individually in the middle of the Kyoto summer heat. Mandy, Sara, and Jackie are on the case.

I liked the twists, turns and surprises along the way to solving this mystery.

I was given an advanced readers copy and am not required to leave a positive review.

I’m generally a big fan of this series but was disappointed in this book. I love Mandy and Rick and there was virtually no interaction between the two in this book. I also found the story a bit disjointed and I got lost a few times. Maybe I just miss the New York version of the series with the side characters I’ve come to love.

Mandy and family are still in Kyoto with Mandy helping out a police detective to enhance her ghost communication abilities. They have two murders to solve that appear unrelated but they can’t seem to find any spirits to question!

I received an arc of this book and voluntarily provided a review.

Mandy really has her hands full in this story. She is 'caught' talking to a ghost by Sara Able a local sorceress who wants Mandy to teach her how to do the same thing. A frozen body is found in the middle of summer by a group of people on a tour, but the ghost isn't making themselves shown. Then there is another body. A great fun read. I have enjoyed this series from the beginning. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

Another great installment!

This series is so much fun! Mandy and company are still all in Japan and tripping over bodies. This time, it starts with a frozen body in the woods. How does someone freeze in the Kyoto summer heat? And where is the ghost? Mandy gets busted by Sara a police detective/sorceress while talking to Jackie the ghost. Can Mandy teach Sara how to talk to ghosts? Plenty of twists in this one!

I received an ARC. This is my honest review.

Summer Heat, Frozen Corpse, and Wicked

I've enjoyed this series from the beginning!
Characters are developed to the point of being old friends to me 😉
I really like the shift from New York to Japan. It seems to have provided additional story lines as well as observing the differences in culture.
Great read!

Good book

Mandy meets Sara who wants her to teach her how to see and hear ghosts better. She is from a family that practices onmyodo sorcery. Mandy goes around with Sara when they are called to a haunted forest where a frozen body is discovered. It was fun learning the customs in Japan. I love it when you get a great read and learn something new in the process.

They're still in Kyoto. Fun mystery

Another adventure in Japan lets us feel like we're there. There is a local cop, descended from sorcerers, who wants Mandy's help in seeing and hearing ghosts better. They work on a case of a hit and run and a beautiful frozen corpse.
