Murder, mystery, underground tunnels, and romance are intertwined in this standalone romantic thriller, the second installment of the McAllister Justice Series.

As a beta reader, one of the biggest things to throw your emotions into a complex whirlpool is finding out a book you positively adored at the early beta stages has undergone considerable changes. When I found out Bound By Shadows had grown considerably after my initial beta read, a part of me was worried. It had grown, not changed, yet my mind imagined huge changes that would have removed my favourite aspects. Fortunately, my fears were unfounded. I enjoyed the book just as much now that it is complete, even more so, than I did when I first got to read the early version of it. In fact, I got to experience the joy that comes with realising something you suggested had been taken on board.
Note, my five-star review is not a reflection of my beta reading. Nor is it influenced by any elements you may think influence my thoughts due to being close to the development of this book. The moment I read the beta version of the book, my mind screamed out for me to give a five-star rating. If I’d been able to do so then, I would have. The changes that occurred, the growth I have seen, simply made me love the book even more. The changes could have resulted in the book being given a lower rating, but it didn’t. It remained a solid five-star read, ensuring Bound By Shadows holds the spot as my current favourite read of the year. In fact, I believe it may hold the title by the time the year ends, as it will take a truly mind-blowing book to top this.
Whilst Bound By Shadows is the second book in the McAllister Justice series, know it is perfectly fine to read this book as a standalone novel. It is a wonderful read, one I’m going to be telling a lot of people to read, and so is the first book in the series. Although not necessary, Digital Velocity will help in your understanding of the male lead in Bound By Shadows. A lot of what Caden experiences in this one, a lot of the background in understanding his fears, can be understood through reading the first book. It’s not necessary as things are explained well enough in this one to make it unnecessary to read the prior book, but it will be beneficial. Not to mention, the McAllister Justice series is shaping up to be a wonderful series, and it is best to read them in order. You get to see how things have developed for the characters in the first book, you get to watch all the characters as the series progresses. I really would recommend reading this series from the start – but even if you just pick up this one, you’re in for a wonderful read.
Bound By Shadows has all the trademarks of a wonderful Reily Garrett read. There is plenty of action. There is a great mystery. There are hot moments. There is a lot of chemistry. There are great characters. There is more than enough to keep you turning page after page, ensuring you receive everything you expect from a wonderful romantic suspense book. Those who have read a prior Reily Garrett book will have an idea of what to expect, and this book provides these things in large quantities.
The first page pulls you straight into the action, kicking the story off with a bang. From that moment on, you’re pulled into the mystery, waiting to see how the events come together. Without a doubt, the thriller elements of this story are my favourite out of all my Reily Garrett reads thus far (and I only have a couple of her books I still need to read). It develops at a wonderful pace throughout, giving you ups and downs as you try to work out how everything ties together.
Throughout all of this, the romance slowly builds. I had a massive internal debate about whether Caden and Kaylee are my favourite Reily Garrett couple. You see, Conner and Kendra hold a special place in my heart, as their story in Carnal Obsession blew my mind. It was a close call, a very close call, but I think Conner and Kendra are still hanging onto that spot. I think the only reason they’re holding the spot as my favourite couple is because they are the couple to have kick started my Reily Garrett obsession, but Caden and Kaylee are an extremely close second. It really is a wonderful romance between the two of them, they work so well together as characters, and the chemistry is fabulous.
I really could rant on and on about how much I loved this book. As I’ve already stated, it’s my favourite read of the year. The only read to have earned a five-star rating from me, and I doubt November or December will manage to hand me a truly shocking read to replace Bound By Shadows as my number one read. I’m not saying I’m going to be reading a lot of bad books for the last two months of the year – but Bound By Shadows really has set the bar high. It’s a wonderful read in so many ways, the perfect book for fans of romantic suspense.
Honestly, Bound By Shadows is Reily Garrett at her finest. It demonstrates why I fell in love with her work so quickly, why she quickly became one of my favourite authors, and why I’ll jump at anything she writes. I honestly cannot wait for the next book in the McAllister Justice series – but, seriously, I will read whatever Reily Garrett brings us next.
If you’ve yet to read a Reily Garrett book, I can guarantee you’re missing out on some amazing reads.
What a great series so far! I am glad I get to read such great books and I get to write these reviews so others can pick up great books as well. Kaylee is trying to move on with her life after a deviating loss of her twin brother. But she runs into more trouble of a different kind. Kaylee is a strong character I admire and I loved this book very much. There were ups and downs for her but I loved following along to see how she dealt with everything. Great book! *This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.*

Bound by Shadows is the second book in the McAllister Justice series by author Reily Garrett. This romantic thriller can be read as a standalone although I believe you will have a greater foundation and appreciation by reading the series in order. In the first book, Caden went through a difficult ordeal along with Lexi. The incident itself is not pertinent to know for this story, but knowing what happened will help to understand Caden and his PTSD. Ms. Garrett does a good job of updating the reader if you have forgotten or decided to start with this one.
I find Ms. Garrett’s stories to be the perfect combination of suspense, thrills, sexual tension, and humor. I just love the McAllister brothers and especially loved Caden in the first book, Digital Velocity. I cannot wait to read the other brother’s stories!!
Second in the McAllister Justice series, please don’t feel that this doesn’t read well in its own right…it does, this is a fantastic standalone that you would be hard pressed to find fault with but if you haven’t read Digital Velocity then it too is highly recommended and there are some cross over characters that you might want to get to grips with! Mystery and magnificence are the two words that totally spring to mind when trying to put my thoughts on the screen about how I feel about this story, there was action on every page and angst that had me desperately flipping through those pages. Romantically this centres around Caden and Kaylee and whilst the romance is one that takes it’s time to take hold, I think it would be fair to say that they were the sort of couple that kept me totally absorbed. Their chemistry was captivating and when their physicality scorching! From the very first chapter the author immersed me as the reader into a world that felt so real, one that hit the ground running and never let up, the mystery that unfolded was thrilling, it was one that engulfed my day and kept me rooted to my chair as the minutes ticked by and the pages followed at a steady pace. I must say that what totally hooked me was the desire to decipher what was going on, and frustratingly I will admit that it took me too long to get a handle on what was happening, why and by who! This is not the first work I have read by this author, but I will say that in my opinion it is her best work, I thought the story was beautifully written, wonderfully descriptive and magnificently engaging, this is a story that brings a quality romance to the page all the whilst being wrapped up in the most creative mystery. Superb!
Book two in the series brings Kaylee and Caden's story. The author does a great job developing their story and pulled me in right from the start. I was glued to the pages with all the suspense as well as the romance. She moves the story fluidly with descriptive and detailed scenes as well as the dialogue. Her supporting characters play a huge role in bringing the story around. Loved and recommend this book.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
Bound By Shadows is book #2 of the McAllister Justice romantic suspense books.
Kaylee Tate recently moved to Portland. She wakes-up in a cage, finding herself a victim of a kidnapping. The last thing she can remember is sitting in a café. Her head is fuzzy with the drugs she must have been given.
The cage is underground and Kaylee is not alone; another girl urges her to wake-up. Taking her one chance of escape, Kaylee promises she’ll send help as she runs off into a dark tunnel. Realising that she’s in Portland’s famous underground tunnel system, Kaylee hopes her kidnappers won’t find her.
When Kaylee walks into a police station, she meets members of the McAllister family, brothers who are either policemen or are connected to policing. Kaylee is relieved to see these friendly faces that she knew from her school days. It’s Caden who takes Kaylee to hospital while his brothers launch a search and rescue operation for the other girl.
They discover clues of a possible sex trafficking ring, but the girl and the cages are gone and, as a witness, Kaylee is still vulnerable. Whilst protecting Kaylee, Caden faces some of his own fears and the pair find a deep mutual bond. The tension builds through-out the story to an exciting and satisfying ending.
I enjoyed the mix of suspense and romance. Characters from book #1 return and the cameraderie and banter between the McAllister brothers was fun. I will look forward to further adventures and romance from more books in the series.
Bound By Shadows is the second book in the McAllister Justice series. It’s technically the third since there is a prequel novella. I recommend reading the first two together. You can read Bound as a standalone because it’s a different couple but they are connected. I loved Caden in Digital Velocity so I was excited that he got the next book. I don’t want to spoil anything and since the synopsis explains a lot, I will make this fast.
Kaylee just wanted a fresh start. She had no idea that within a week of being back to a town she lived in as a child, she would be kidnapped and trapped in a cage underground. She also didn’t expect to make it out alive and into the arms of a childhood friend and his protective brothers. But that’s exactly what happens. She is the child of a cop. She is not letting these creeps run her out of the city she just came back to. She needs to seek justice and save the future lives of other victims.
Caden can’t believe what is happening. Just two months ago his life was forever changed and now it was time to protect another woman. Not just any woman. A strong, stubborn, and sexy woman who could bring him to his knees. He can’t think about her in that way. Not until she is out of danger. Will he keep her safe and fall for her all at the same time?
I love a good suspense romance. Sometimes I just need the added action that isn’t between just the sheets. The puzzle of finding a murderer. Figuring out who is behind the veil. And having a love story in between is the cherry on the top.
Overall...it’s a suspense, sexy, fun, and crazy ride. I not only enjoyed the couple but also his brothers. They just love giving each other shit and it’s hilarious. But at the same time they are protective, collective, and smart. I can’t wait to see who is getting the next book!
Quotes:
“You have the ultimate stalker, Kaylee, but he’s harmless. Kinda like a cat.” Lucas grinned at his younger sibling.
“I’m no longer controlled by my joystick. Too many women make a game of it.”
“Aw, darlin’, we have a long way to go. Settle in and enjoy.”
Bound By Shadows is the second book in the McAllister Justice series, and while it can be read as a standalone, I really recommend reading Digital Velocity first, as it will make more sense with the added details. Kaylee is in Portland for a fresh start after a tragedy nearly derailed her life, but never did she think that she would be kidnapped there. She's drugged, wakes up in a cage, and barely manages to escape. However, she really didn't take into account that the sadistic killer would keep trying to get her, so she's really not too keen on letting anyone help her. Caden McAllister is just 2 months out of dodging of sociopathic murderers best attempt at killing him, and isn't able to move forward. His quiet life explodes into serious chaos when he comes across Kaylee after escaping her prison. Now they are in a race to figure out who kidnapped her before they take her out, but will he be able to keep her safe? All the books that I read by the talented Reily Garrett to date I've enjoyed, but the McAllister Justice series is EPIC! And while I LOVED Digital Velocity so much, Bound By Shadows came out even bigger if possible. Bigger mystery, more action, tons of intense suspense, and some angst thrown in for good measure. Kaylee is seriously a bad a** heroine that I am girl crushing on, while Caden is yummy with his tortured soul self. And the entertaining cast of secondaries are the same with a few new ones which kept me laughing until my sides hurt. The diabolical twists were around every corner, and I spent the majority of my time dropping loud f-bombs. I CANNOT WAIT for the next book in this series, and HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
This is my second book in Reily Garret's McAllister Justice Series. The books starts very quickly (with a kidnapping and escape), and moves very quickly after that. She is helped by a very interesting hero - Caden McAllister and his unique band of brothers. Her writing is vivid in its details about cruelty and torture, but not pushed to the point of being grotesque. This is an excellent murder mystery thriller that will be interesting for most men, and just enough romance to interest the men's spouses. Lots of action and intense suspense. The characters are well developed, and very interesting, including Caden's brothers. I agree with other comments that the book is a good sequel to earlier efforts. But this book also stands alone very well. I liked this book enough to gift to my adult daughter.
Bound By Shadows by Reily Garrett unfortunately needs a complete overhaul. Because of the amount of jargon used to complete most every sentence I was barely able to concentrate on the actual story so I can’t comment much in the way of that aspect. You want a book that will grab a reader no matter what level they are and this is not it. Also a lot of it didn’t make sense, was repetitive and dragged out. At the end when the author posted a thank you note for reading she didn’t even have the right characters listed for this book. If Reily Garrett put as much effort into the actual story and outline as she does writing an overly descriptive sentence, then she could have something solid.
Kaylee is starting over, her past won't define her. I loved her character development over the story. She is trying to overcome so much and find herself at the same time. Her strength and grit to fight back makes her a strong heroine. While she doesn't need saving, it's nice that she was given a vulnerability to embrace the strength given to her. I don't want to spoil this story but I liked how smart she was. Reily writes really strong, smart, and capable heroines in her stories. Sure they find love, but all it does, is add to their strength of character. Caden is back and I enjoyed that we got to see him in a new light. Wow he was given such a genuine weakness but it turned out to be a strength in the time of need. Family, while annoying, means everything to him and they will stop at nothing for Caden. I love the dynamics he has with each brother and the bond. With out a doubt you know that Caden is loved even if he wants to throttle them all. He really steps up for Kaylee and becomes the guy he imagined he would be. This story has action, suspense, romance, and so much more. I cannot wait for the series to continue. If you want thriller and romance get this novel today.
Kaylee Tate decided on a new start after the death of her twin brother. She returned to the town of their childhood. What she certainly didn't expect was to be kidnapped a few days later. Caden McAllister is a P. I. most of his family are in one form of law enforcement or another. He is visiting the police station when a traumatized woman stumbles in. There follows a life or death investigation that will carry on for weeks and involve lots of people from the town. Our hero is suffering from PTSD and finds many of the things he had to do for this case dragging up his nightmares. Our heroine is a strong and independent woman. Or is at least trying to be. A wonderful romantic suspense with lots of danger and scary moments. I was completely hooked from the first to last page. It is part of a series but you don't need to have read the previous book. (I have read it and that is just as scary. ) The characters are all brilliant and I can't wait to read the next book in the series. They are some seriously sexy brothers. I loved it.
In this second installment of the McAllister Justice series you are brought on the ride Kaylee and Caden. Kaylee is trying to start over after the death of her twin brother, she ends up escaping a dangerous situation and the McAllister brothers come to the rescue. Especially Caden who is drawn to Kaylee like no other. You get to see all the characters you love from the first book Lexi, Ethan and all the sexy brothers and their boundless loyalty and love for each other. Along with the fun loving ribbing that goes on between this great family. There is action, suspense, sexy men and a great story!!! What else can you need??? I really loved this book!
This is book two of The McAllister Justice series and this one features Caden McAllister, the Private Investigator, and Kaylee Tate, who had just moved back to Portland, Oregon about a week ago, for a new start and to recover from a very recent family tragedy. She finds herself walking up, with a fuzzy, drugged head and no memory of what has happened to her. She is locked inside a cage and another woman is in one the other two cages in what seems to be a cave underground. The other woman prompts her to grab a stone, to attack their kidnapper when he returns, as she isn’t tied up as yet. But he is not alone, she can hear another man and a woman in the tunnels, and the chances to escape are going to be slim. She manages to evade the main kidnapper, once he comes into her cage, but isn’t able to get the other woman out of the other cage, and has to leave her behind. She promises to return with help and manages to make her way to the police station and practically falls into Caden’s arms. He gets his brother, a K-9 officer, to follow her tracks and they get to the tunnels and find no trace of the woman. Kaylee feels immensely guilty and at fault for not stopping to save this woman, but if she had, she would no doubt have been dead or taken far away. Going back into the tunnels is a difficult choice for Caden, having been poisoned and almost dying in a horrific manner, under the efforts of a serial killer, and only survived thanks to Lexi’s bravery. After being checked out at hospital, Caden takes Kaylee back to her new flat, but still has worries about her safety. His worries are proven right, when he hears her scream and finds her under attack. It seems the kidnappers want to eliminate a witness, but is it from something she saw in the tunnels, or had she managed to snap a photo of someone, as she was taking photos around town during the previous days? The continued ad unknown danger facing Kaylee, leaves Caden insisting she come and stay at his cabin in the woods, far out from town. He moved there some months ago, but hasn’t settled nor even unpacked all his boxes. When Kaylee gives a description of the other woman in the cages, it turns out she was one of Caden’s past lovers and he already had issues with her family and her ex-boyfriend, who then went onto become her abusive husband. He and his family have to clear his name when he is framed for his ex-girlfriend’s murder! He and Kaylee get comfortable with each other, but he refuses to act on their feelings for each other, while they have people after her and now framing him as well. It is too dangerous to get distracted and more attacks keep coming, leaving him distraught when Kaylee and someone else important to the McAllister’s, are taken by the killer. The members of the McAllister family have been working to find out what the end game is from the kidnappers and sex-traffickers, and who is behind it all. Kaylee’s observations and her photos, provide them with well needed hints to some of the criminals, but the killer is not finished with Kaylee and will do what they can to ensure there are no witnesses left behind, ruining any chances of Kaylee and Caden having a happy ending. Caden will put his own life on the line, to save the woman he has come to love, amongst all the issues from his past experiences. There is lots of ribbing and comments from his brothers and even his sister Abi, but the saving grace in one part of the tale is having one of his brother’s dog Damien, stay with them, giving them warning at a crucial point! Lots of references to the rest of the family and scenarios from the previous book, amongst all the witty interactions between the brothers, but easily read as a standalone story still. Having read the previous book, it just helps you to get to know all of the McAllisters and all of their roles within law enforcement and more. A dangerous and thrilling read, with plenty of action and strong family links. Add in a couple of extremely well trained dogs and then some puppies to end, it brings a bit of everything to the storyline. Definitely a series to watch out for and I can’t wait to read some more. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
Bound by Shadows - McAllister Justice Bk 2 - Written by Reily Garrett Emotional fear of what can be, past or present?
Kidnapping and murder never crossed Kaylee’s mind when seeking a fresh start in Portland, a new beginning to shed the remnants of tragedy dogging her steps. After escaping from an underground cage, she fights to stay one step ahead of the killer bent on silencing his only witness. Kaylee. Two months after dodging a sociopathic murderer’s best efforts, Caden McAllister flounders within a social sinkhole, unable to move forward, too stubborn to step back. Guarded and wary, the private investigator’s stagnant lifestyle detonates into chaos when a bloody young waif stumbles into his care. Framed for a murdering a past lover, Caden must clear his name and overcome his charge’s doubts while keeping her out of the sex-slave trade. When betrayal ends with Kaylee’s re-capture, Caden must conquer his past and risk all or lose the one he has come to love. Murder, mystery, underground tunnels, and romance are intertwined in this standalone romantic thriller, the second installment of the McAllister Justice Series.
What did I like? Well, who wouldn’t just love these brothers and all the trouble that just up and finds them? Caden was in the first book and I fell in love with him then and this book just makes me love him even more! I love photography, so Kaylee and I hit a love spot. She is so independent and wanting to start her life over after a bad experience, you just have to love her for that.
What will you like? After the McAllister boys and Kaylee, this story will take you on a very emotional train ride that just keeps getting deeper and deeper. It is action packed, with so many twists and turns that it threatens whiplash! Caden and Kaylee fight their own emotional battles with the support of the McAllister family and each other. Just when they think they have a handle on things, they get thrown another curve ball when Kaylee gets captured again. This is a fast-paced, never a dull moment romantic thriller that does not leave out any details. Love this series and I am off to the next adventure, Inconclusive Evidence. I borrowed this from Kindle Unlimited.
Bound by Shadows is book 2 in the McAllister Justice Series. This story centers around Caden, who is one of the McAllister bothers, and Kaylee.
Kaylee was kidnapped but managed to escape the people who took her. But she left behind another woman vowing to send help. She makes it to the police station and who does she find there but one of the boys she grew up with.
I have to say that I was really looking for to this book. I really liked Caden in Digital Velocity. This book was just a little flat for me. The beginning was extremely strong and suspenseful. But after the beginning the story slowed down and it wasn’t until seventy percent in that it picked back up again. I also felt that Kaylee should have been seeing a therapist to help her deal with her brother’s death because she was far from having dealt with it. Her brother Reese was mentioned a lot without adding a lot to the story. I almost wish that he was wasn’t mentioned as much.
Caden still has a great relationship with his brothers and Lexi. He is having trouble from the encounter that he had with Lexi in book 1. But this did help him become closer to Kaylee. Again, I think that his issues were another character in the book that was mentioned a lot but did not add a lot to the story.
I will read this book again because I really did wanted to know Caden’s story and to see where Reily Garrett was taking the bothers.
I was given this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
An insane plotline that holds the suspense to the very end! Plenty of sparks and heat!
Reily Garrett has written a chilling and dangerous story that will keep you turning the pages right up to the Epilogue! Kaylee and Caden are thrown together as an unrelenting criminals make repeated attempts to kidnap/murder them! It's so sweet how Caden and Kaylee find a kindred spirit in each other and intuitive understanding of their strength, tenderness, trust and commitment! Soulmates? Absolutely! Then there is the McAllister family, 4 men with law enforcement backgrounds and kid sister with mad hacking skills! Along with Lexi from book 1 in the series the McAllisters are a force to be reckond with! While 4 older brothers will tease and insult each other, I found no humor in the inappropriate banter between them! I did however love the way the whole family were a force to be reconned with, when threats arose! I also found the narrative at times to be an obstacle to the flow of the plot! Backstories, personal reflection and self-pep talks are important but many paragraphs seemed oddly disjointed and I needed to repeatedly turn back in the book to verify the meaning! The second half of the novel flowed much more evenly! To be sure this was a really great story! Heartwrenching, pulsepounding, steamy and strong family vibe! A very fascinating read with a HEA!
Our heroine escaped once and fell into the care of our hero. But he has a past which he is going to have to overcome if he wants to save her a second time.
This is book two of the series, but it does just fine as a standalone. There are some references to characters from the previous book, but nothing essential to this plot.
This is a romantic suspense story with a heavy accent on the suspense and thriller aspects. The romance sort of occurs naturally as a byproduct, which works perfectly for me. The story is well written, but not always easy to read as there is a lot going on. The plot also takes several turns that keeps the reader guessing and certainly kept me turning pages. Along the way, we get to know our hero and heroine very well and they turn out to have excellent chemistry. I really enjoyed how this entire thing developed and I definitely am looking forward to the next book in the series.
Highly recommended

This is the second book I've read by Reily Garrett and its so well done. The characters are deep and the pace is excellent. Garrett has mastered the power of a compelling first chapter. I love how the family of brothers sets the stage for an exciting series. The twists keep coming and I love how the author pulls in some exciting local history/geography from the PNW almost as another character. Finally I love how she has captured the real way that our experiences shape our very outlook on life and how we live, as well as the very healing power of finding a person you really connect with.
There's a romantic interest that though integral to the plot, isn't at all schmaltzy (with the minor exception of some awkward dialog between the characters in their first physical encounter). Instead it adds dimension to the book and helps propel it to an exciting conclusion that I didn't see coming.
Bound By Shadows is the second book in he McAllister Justice series. Kaylee is trying to start over after the death of her twin brother. She moves back to her childhood town only to be drugged and kidnapped. She manages to escape and makes it to the police station. Caden is a PI suffering from PTSD. He is unable to move forward and can't seem to step back. He meets Kaylee when she enters the police station after escaping her capture. As Kaylee and Caden race to find who is responsible for her kidnapping romantic feelings develop between them. There is plenty of suspense, action, mystery, and romance to keep you hooked till the end.
Kaylee made a decision to return to the northwest after the death of her twin brother, who had once planned to return to the northwest as well for veterinary school
She took some amazing photos and found herself waking to a nightmare scenario
Kaylee is a survivor. can she survive the latest nightmares and their aftermath? Her one time crush Caden appears. Friend, or tangled in part of her nightmares?
Intense drama, romance and action, with super family dynamics great k9s

I obtained this free e-book from Amazon and I am voluntarily writing a review. This book could have been so much better if the author was not so dead set on being so overly descriptive that she looses the reader mid sentence. Kaylee is new to the city and is enjoying a coffee at an outside bistro when the next thing she knows she is in a cage in an underground cave and her captor is about to rape her. A good editing to clean up descriptive diarrhea and you would have a 5 star rating.
The interactions with the brothers sounded familiar. When I read about the peanut butter I remembered I’d read that before. So I checked my library and found that it had come from Digital Velocity, which I loved. I didn’t like this one as much, probably because of that lack of gore, but it was still very good. I totally love the relationships between the brothers and the humor amidst all the problems.
Exciting romantic suspense. Horrendous situation that has one hoping the protagonist is able to escape. She does, but that is not the end. It appears to be only the beginning of her trials and troubles. Fortunately she has the McAllister family to aid her in evading capture or death. Just when you think all is over and safe something else happens. A page turner for sure. Thanks to the author for providing a copy via Booksprout.
This book can be read as a standalone but is much better if the series is read in order. One minute Kaylee is photographing her new surroundings and having a coffee and the next she is in a filthy cage alongside another victim. So starts another fast paced action packed book full of twists and turns, humour, friendship, feisty women, strong family bonds and an amazing dog. Loved it.

A suspenseful story line that makes it hard to put the book down. You're glued to the pages and at times sitting on the edge of your seat waiting to find out what happens next. The characters are intriguing, well developed and have ups and downs as they work to solve the case. Mystery, suspense, thrills and intrigue fill the pages keeping your interest from start to finish.

This is a brilliant read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building. Can't wait to read what the author brings out next. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
Fresh start? Wow! What a beginning. But Kaylee showed bravery and stamina. Not to mention, a healing force for Caden. I loved how they understood and supported each other in their healing. There is advantage to family, even when they irritate one. Good read. Look forward to the other brother's stories.
