This Amish novel has an interesting and unexpected storyline. Jenny is a young Amish woman who is determined to hide from her abusive boyfriend. Because her abuser is an Amish minister’s son and a “charmer” who has easily fooled people in the past about his true character, Jenny feels she has no choice but to leave her Amish community. As she’s fleeing, circumstances lead her to accepting help from Paul Miller, who is also a charmer—but is a truly wonderful young man. Paul takes her to the home of his brother, Silas and Kayla Miller. The three come up with a unique way to hide Jenny’s identity while she is in plain sight of their Amish community. But Jenny still has a secret that she has not shared with the Millers, and she must trust God to guide her in the right path towards redemption and happiness.

I enjoyed the twists and turns of this story. It was fun to be reunited with Silas and Kayla as I had loved their story in “The Tresspasser”, the first book of this series. I also liked the character of Paul and his dedication to protect Jenny from harm. The romance between Jenny and Paul has an almost instant beginning, but their path to love and happiness is a choppy one. I also liked the fact that the gospel is shared in this story. I thought the “Author’s Note” at the beginning of the story set the stage for that very well:

“We, as Englischers, can learn a lot from the Plain People and their simple way of life. Their hard work, close-knit family life, and concern for others are to be applauded. As the Lord wills, may this special culture continue to be respected and remain so for many centuries to come, and may the light of God’s salvation reach their hearts.”

Although this book is part of a series, it can be read as a stand-alone story. But once you’ve read this one, you’ll want to read the whole series.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

The Charmer is the third outstanding story written by Jennifer Spredeman in her Amish Country Brides series. This story starts out with a close encounter between an Amish buggy and a car. Excitement in the very beginning let's the reader know this will be an amazing read. This story is filled with secrets, deception, kindness, friendship, and some good ole gossip which really adds excitement to the story. The characters are very well developed and add a lot of emtions to the story.

When Paul meets Jenny on a back road after an almost collision he falls head over heels in love. When he approaches the car in the ditch and discovers the woman is Amish he doesn't know what to make of it. As he aids Jenny with her car he learns something about her and knows he has to help her. Jenny is running from an abusive boyfriend in a stolen car. Don't take anything in this story for granted because the author will definitely has hidden a few details until the end. This is a very exciting read. I enjoyed the surprise at the end of the story. A great added touch.

I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached to post a favorable response. I have rated this story with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that I can highly recommend to others.

Congratulations to Jennifer Spredeman for adding a very poignant story which touches on a very real topic for her readers enjoyment.

As Jenny finds herself in a serious situation, she flees from the life she has known seeking safety. She "accidentally" meets Paul and her past starts to unravel. Will anyone believe her, when her own family has not?

This is a very true-to-life story which is probably a reality for way too many. The lessons learned and the path to resolution are difficult but possible with a little help from caring people and a loving Savior who guides us all.

In a quote from the book, "But can't He just stop the evil, the tragedies?" This is in reference to Deity as Jenny wonders how to resolve her past. The answer is touching and the book is very enthralling. It is difficult to put it down. A very good read and an especially moving storyline. You will love it!

I received an ebook copy from the author. All thoughts are my own.

As the story opens with a near accident that puts Jenny into Paul's
life things start to happen.Jenny is running from an abrusive relationship.
We all know that once someone starts being abrusive they rarely stop
without getting help. If you read the book "The Trespasser" then you
have met Silas and Kayla, Paul's brother and sister in law.
Paul is very protective of Jenny and wants to help her. Jenny has another
secret that she hasn't told anyone...Gods helps her with this secret.
From start to end of story you are aware of God's love and understanding.
It i s a must read book. If you haven't read "The Trespasser or The Heartbreaker" try to
read a copy before you start "The Charmer". Both are amazing books that
are very uplifting.

An Amish Romance about a couple from different districts who meet and how the English world plays a part in helping Jenny get away from her past in her Amish district. Her true Amish Faith does prevail. An easy read and a story you will want to keep reading!

Jennifer Spredemann id's quickly becoming one of my favorite Amish Fiction authors. I Received an advance readers copy for me honest opinion.

This story has a little bit suspense to it waiting to see what happens with the main characters. Instead of an Englisher pretending to be Amish this is just the opposite. I would suggest you read book 1 and 2 of the series to get a feel for the characters but can be read az stand alone book too.

Such a sweet love story about strangers meeting. Because of her situation, Jenny ends up having to disguise herself in order to be safe. But even that doesn’t work and she finds herself in danger. Will she be rescued from it?
This is one of those books that I couldn’t put down.

This is one book that had me hooked from page 1. The characters bring joy and laughter along with sadness. They show compassion for Jenny and teach her that love is possible. If you are looking for a book that will have you wanting to finish it in one day then this is a must read.
I received this book from the author and I am under no obligation to give a positive review.

The Charmer is the third in the Amish Country Brides Series by Jennifer Spredemann and just like the first two in the series this one did not disappoint.
The Charmer is a wonderful story about love, mystery, faith and a fragile secret keep close at heart in order to protect all Jenny holds dear.
Like all Jennifer Spredemann’s books she paints a story line that pulls you in right from the first words and keeps you wanting more. I could not put this book down and finished it within a day. The thing I love best about her books is the deep scriptural component, you really feel that your connected to the Bible in a way that you can really relate. Jenny Christner’s story of abuse is not that far fetched of many in the world which is a sad reality, what makes it a wonderful read is that fact that This author shows us that with faith one can come out the other side and have the life God intended one to have. I would highly recommend this book.

Absolutely CHARMING! Jenny and Paul are the perfect couple! I love a book that will capture me in the story and leave me wanting more... Jennifer Spredemann has that writing talent. This story has a bit of Suspense, Faith, and Love of Der Herr. This is the third book in the Amish Country Brides Series and I am sure you could enjoy this as a stand alone title, but I know you will enjoy it more if you read The Trespasser and The Heartbreaker prior to reading this book. Treat Yourself. I received an ARC copy from the author as part of the launch of the book. I have given my true and honest opinion of The Charmer.

Loved this story with a little mystery, a little excitement, a little romance, and a little “lie”. Jennifer Spredemann has a great way to tell her stories.
Jenny Christner has runaway from an abusive relationship in a “borrowed” car. Not sure where she is going Jenny has an accident and a handsome Paul Miller comes to her rescue. Paul invites Jenny to stay with his brother’s family until she figures out what she wants to do. Jenny and Paul start to enjoy each other’s company. Will the lie that follows Jenny end this budding relationship?

I wanted to love this book. The premise is strong, the story line intriguing and the potential is there. Yet, it just never gelled. Too many scenes and scenarios stretched the reality of differences between Amish communities to an unbelievable limit. I often felt that I was in the midst of an intense game of ping-pong as the story line bounced around. Though I’m certain the author is gifted and capable, this novel left me notably disappointed.

Another winner in this series

Kayla and Silas from book 1 are key participants as Jenny is on the run from an abusive suitor. Paul, Silas' brother falls head over heels at first sight. And the family does all it can to keep Jenny safe. My fav character was the Bishop -- his kindness and understanding. He comes late in the book. I truly enjoyed this one and recommend. But I do think it would be best to read book 1 first.

Why?

What is the meaning of this? Why does this happen? Does God have a plan?
God works in ways we don't always understand. This book does not answer these questions, but it does show that God does have a plan. I have enjoyed many books by this author and have always enjoyed them

A charmer for sure

Paul was a real charmer in his younger days and he and his brother had the pleasure of owning their own business. When Serria came into town Paul's life was totally changed. I know you will delight in reading this story and find within yourself love, happiness and salvation that God gives to each of us as believers.

THE CHARMER

A really cute book. I read it in two nights so it kept my interest up. Actually I don't remember reading a book with this type of theme. I was surprised on occasions, because I am very good at figuring out the ending, but this time I missed some. I like that I was wrong because it was not following the usual "let's write a book" theory. It was worth reading. J😉

Quick Exciting Read

I enjoyed the pace of this story. Things happened quickly and to the point without drawing out seemingly endless ups and downs. I loved that Jenny was ripe for Salvation and Paul was ready to lead a confused, lost soul to CHRIST. I loved how the Bishop was so supportive when he learned the truth.

Paul Miller and Jenny Christner met by accident, literally. The car she's driving nearly crashes into his buggy and only her swerving into a ditch prevents injuries. But what is this beautiful young Amish woman doing driving a car? Paul is smitten.

This is a quick read, perfect for a rainy afternoon. The characters of Paul and Jenny are both charming but also his brother Silas and SIL Kayla.

The Charmer

I loved this book I wished I could of given a much higher rating. Jenny had to leave her community and find a safe place to hide away from a boyfriend she never wanted. But when she found the right place it was awesome. This is a must read. I loved all the characters. This author is amazing. Thank you for writing this book.

Disappointing

The book started out great then just went south. Not sure why the ending was so rushed and extremely choppy. It’s like entire chapters were left out in a rush to finish. Really bad editor is all I can come up with.

Unrealistic.

I did not like the lie they were supporting. I didn’t like Jennie becoming English, when she did not like it and letting her hair down without a cap was forbidden, etc., I almost did. not read it for these reasons. Sorry, just my opinion.

Sweet, fast read

I was tired of the doom and gloom of current events, so I picked this up. Although it mentioned some hard things, the tone of the novel was gentle, healing, and hopeful.
