Gen SeXYZ: Love, Sexuality & Youth

Rate this book
“Corrupt the young. Get them away from religion. Encourage their interest in sex.…”—Vladimir Lenin, 1921, How to Destroy the West

Going through each of the prophetic statements made by Lenin in 1921 shows why America is where it is today. Only 4 percent of Gen Z think about life through a biblical lens. To them, sexuality is more important than friends, family, or their faith.

Jeff Grenell’s goal in Gen Love, Sexuality & Youth is to reach youth, youth leaders, families, and the church with a message that responds to the sexual revolution tsunami and restores sexuality to its God-given origins.

When the church failed to respond to the sexual revolution of the 1960s and the present one of the 21st century, its role in society crumbled. The media stopped censoring, the government redefined marriage, schools taught progressive sex education, and the list of genders grew.

Jeff provides practical knowledge and tools to launch a spiritual revolution of love and truth that will grow the church to reach younger generations and combat the loveless, godless sexuality ethic in our culture that’s misleading them.

After scanning the reviews for this book on amazon and being so confused, I saw that many of them were review copies that people had received and been asked to leave reviews. Which makes total sense because this book is a hot mess. Most of the information in it is helpful, but there are far better books on this topic. The writing style is horrible and often very confusing to read. He makes all sorts of blanket statements and baseless claims that he doesn’t back up. At one point, I’m not joking, he claims that our entire view of homosexuality in society in the past 25 years was shaped by one statement the pope made 4 years ago. It is outlandish the arguments that are made in this book. Not a gifted author.

If I’m being honest, this book could be taken very offensively by someone in the lgbtq community because the author handles the whole matter in such a boarish way and is not considerate to the lgbtq community. Most of the writing is clearly not aimed at discussion, but rather at spreading his own (not wel researched) agenda. It’s almost unreadable if I’m being honest.

He claims to be writing from a biblical perspective, yet for the first half of his argument, they are solely his opinion and bogus statements like the one about the pope mentioned above. He does not back hardly any of it up with scripture.

Avoid this book, if I could get my money back I would.

Gen SeXZY" by Jeff Grenell covers the topics of the sexual revolution, bullying, breakdown of the family, humanitarian causes, and human trafficking and other issues. The author was a youth pastor for four decades so he knows what he is taking about.
I think this book would a great resource for pastors and youth leaders, and parents and grandparents. It has a lot of information and gives Scriptural references. I would recommend this book for every home and church but I would also say to get the full impact from this book, a reader should plan to really read it slowly and study the Scriptures given and not just read it straight through as I do so I could write this review.
I was shocked at the different areas there are that describe sexual genres.

The author states the Bible is clearly the source we need to follow.

I love this statement form the book "Whatever our differences, just because someone believes differently than we do, what right does that gives us to treat them with partiality or judgement?

Here is another one that I liked and ok, I have to admit that I laughed aloud but then I though, "Wow. he is right " Then boy gets aggressive on a date. But girl places her Bible on the front seat next to her.
Boy decides he will not cross over Matthew. Mark, Luke and John to get to her. "

Again, this is another book that I wouldn't have chosen to read if I wasn't a part of Celebrate Lit team. But I am glad I read the book.

I was given a complimentary copy by the author and Celebrate Lit and these opinions are my own.

Although I understand about the sexual revolution, I believe that we are to love each other and listen to each with grace. There is no but in that sentence because God calls us to love each other. He doesn’t say love each other unless they are different. I have a GenZ son. He is very vocal about his beliefs and I have come to understand his views a bit more. The enemy will do anything he can to take our youth. When my son was around sixteen he was at a Wednesday night youth meeting, He had just come back from a mission trip and was on fire for God. That night at the meeting two youth leaders were discussing a sensitive topic and mocking the group they were referring to. My son came home , told us what happened and refused to go back. He had lost trust in those who were suppose be be mentoring. Those moments gave my son a realization that he would always belief what the Bible says and not listen to those who mock others.

In this book I find an author who is open and honest. He is not ashamed of his brother and I applaud that. As I shared about my son, I was astounded that a youth leader would blatantly mock while being in a group that he was ministering to. I can understand how the youth today has walked away from religion. They have heard judgment on others and for them that is not acceptable.

I think the book makes valid points and always refers to making sure we listen to each other. This would be an excellent book for every youth leader, pastor and parent. It should be available at all times for use in a setting when ministering to youth. They want to be heard, understood and accepted. I agree with the author that some twist scriptures in order to make their point in their favor. I learned the hard way to be careful who ministers to your child. I now know that I need to listen to my son more and act on his behalf. I appreciate a book that tackles the hard issues and explains them in love.

I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.

I have 4 children. They are a wide variety of ages. My children are 22, 19, 9 and 7. I have a 5 year old grand-daughter. Because of this wide variety of ages I have had to had a lot of different conversations about sex. One of the things that I have learned as a parent is to be upfront and honest with my kids when talking about my past. My story has a lot of broken pieces. The important thing is that I have learned is that my brokenness lead me to Jesus.
This book would be perfect for a high school/college age youth group. It lays out how God created sex. but the devil turned it for his use. This book shows how the devil will use every tool in his arsenal to lure our youth away from God. There are a lot of sensitive subjects covered in this book. These topics include the rise of sexual revolution, breakdown of families, human trafficking and bullying. All these topics have affected most of us in one way or another.
This book does a great job of bringing the point back to God - love one another, don't judge, for we all fall short. This would be a great edition to a church library

GenSeXYZ Celebration is an in depth look at sex in every form possible. I personally do not think this book belongs in a Christian book reviewing group. For those that want to learn more about sexual promiscuity, bestiality, homosexuality, the sexual revolution, and many other sex related topics, this is the book for you. The author’s intent may have been to educate prior to explaining the biblical view that sexual relations are to be between a man and a woman within a marital relationship. The only positive I could find was the biblical references and verses. From the book: Galatians 5:13, Paul is using similar language when he states, “It is absolutely clear that God has called you to a free life. Just make sure that you don’t use this freedom as an excuse to do whatever you want to do and destroy your freedom.” A few verses later, he lists patterns or practices of sinful behaviors, noting, “If you use your freedom this way, you will not inherit God’s kingdom” (verse 21).

This book was provided through Celebrate Lit and the author for me to read. The opinions expressed are my own thoughts.

Gen SeXZY is a book for the youth of today after the church has lost its hold on our youth through society and how it dictates what they think and feel. It would be great for youth groups and teen Sunday schools.

When I first saw this title I knew it was going to be quite the read. A book with a hard topic and a controversial one as well. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it read and the message within. This can be a hard topic to talk about since it is controversial. But more so because it goes against what society and the world are teaching our teens and youth.

The author has a way of writing that even though you may not agree with him you can still read and understand his point of view. I enjoyed his style of writing.

I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received through Celebrate Lit. All views expressed are only my honest opinion. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. All opinions expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the FTC regulations.

This is a good book. It isn't exactly the kind I normally read (ok, it isn't at all like the kind I normally read). It deals with sexuality and the church. Particularly young people, sex, and the church. I think this book would be a good one for a youth leader, parents of teens, or a church library.

There are things in the book I both agree with and disagree with, but even when I disagreed, I saw the author's point of view. He did a good job of giving explanations and making this an understandable book/topic. God should be the center of everything in our lives and we should look to Him for answers for everything. Overall, it was a good one.

3/5

Thank you to the author/publisher for the review copy of this book via Celebrate Lit. I received this book in exchange for an honest review and the opinions stated above are 100% mine.

I’ve had the honor to know Jeff Grenell through the years—through sermons, in class as a professor, and through conversation about youth ministry. I grew up hearing him preach and was blessed to have him as a professor at North Central University while I studied for my Pastoral degree.

I’m now a year out of college and in my first year of youth ministry. I finally picked up this book (as it was sitting on my shelf waiting for the right time to be read) and I am left informed, encouraged, and motivated. Everyone in ministry or non-ministry should read this book. Jeff makes valuable statements from his years of experience in youth ministry that I believe are relevant today.

I have told my staff multiple takeaways and have encouraged them to read this book as well. I know for a fact I will be re-reading and reviewing this book frequently!

Excellent read for today's Christian parents, teens, and youth leaders. I read it before my teen daughter did so I could make sure to cover certain topics with her myself before she read about them here, but honestly--Jeff does a great job. He doesn't pull any punches, but speaks with love, grace, and truth, not shying away from topics that many parents (myself included) would rather avoid with their kids. It was the nudge I needed in order to open up more conversations with my daughter. I truly did not expect anyone writing about these difficult topics to walk the line so well, without crossing over into undue crass territory. Every topic, however awkward, was discussed scripturally and factually, with an emphasis on loving others like Jesus. I would encourage all Christian parents to give it a read.

Gen SeXYZ: Love, Sexuality Youth by Jeff Grenell is a bit outside of my genre, but I think it would be great for many other readers. It gives many tips on how to deal with certain social issues that are among the youth currently. There is some good advice for those are needing it in this area of issues. I think it may be a good resource for parents who have questions or in need guidance in helping or understanding what their children is going through.

I am giving Gen SeXYZ: Love, Sexuality Youth three and a half stars. I would recommend it for readers who are parents of teens or for Youth Pastors and Ministers. I believe it may be a good addition for Christian or Church Libraries.

I received Gen SeXYZ: Love, Sexuality Youth from the publisher. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.

Full of homophobic and transphobic content. This person does not have the credentials to write anything on the matter of teenagers and/or sexuality. This book is based on agenda-heavy personal views (non-medical, non-psychological, non-academic) and are purely—uninformed OPINION. Do not recommend. Steer clear, honestly, and get a book written by a medical professional sans religious and political agenda.
