THREE MISSING DAYS (Pelican Harbor Book #3) by Colleen Coble is the final action packed Christian romantic suspense/mystery book in this trilogy. While each book has a unique crime plot which is solved in each book, the characters all have integral personal stories that progress throughout all three books which makes them better read in order in my opinion.

Chief of Police Jane Hardy is called to the scene of a fire with two deaths. Just as the investigation gets going, Jane and Reid also have to deal with the arrest of their son, Will on a murder charge. He is being framed with the murder of Reid’s ex-wife and his adopted mother. Jane is terrified and knows she has to trust her team and have faith in them and God to prove Will’s innocence, while she works on the murders tied to the fire.

The two deadly cases merge as more evidence is discovered. Jane and Reid find the murders are also tied to their pasts in the cult. Will they be able to solve these cases and discover who wants to frame Will and destroy Jane’s family?

This is a fast paced, fantastic conclusion to this trilogy! Jane and Reid are tested to the limit in this book. Their pasts just will not let them move on until all is revealed and laid to rest. All of their family and friends add to the small town feel and add depth to the story. I loved that this mystery/crime plot tied the past to the present and left you with answers, forgiveness and strong family ties which all flowed well into the HEA.

I highly recommend this Christian romantic suspense, the entire trilogy and this author!

Three Missing Days is an edgy, action packed conclusion to the The Pelican Harbor series. I recommend reading this series in order but if you are not able to, the author fills in the backstory well. I love the setting on the Gulf Coast near Mobile and the characters are likable and realistic with an interesting background. Police Chief Jane Hardy and Reid Dixon met again in the first book after being apart for fifteen years. Their son Will would love for them to get married but there are obstacles in the way. One obstacle is removed when Reid's estranged and demanding wife Lauren is killed. The problem is that the murder is pinned on Will. Jane has to stay out of the investigation and her detective Augusta is very competent to run the investigation. As the story begins, there is a house fire where the homeowner died, actually murdered, and a firefighter died as well. As both cases are investigated, it becomes possible that they may be related. The question is why someone wanted the two women dead and why implicate Jane's son. The mystery to unravel is a complicated one that sends Jane and the others in many directions to investigate, including people from the past...Jane, Reid, and their parents' past. This is a story of revenge, hate, danger and action interspersed with moments of faith and deepening love. Questions from the past are answered to round out the series. Another Colleen Coble winner.

When I read this book I read it with a book and of course I skipped and didn't really got into it. So I decided to listen to it on audiobooks and so enjoyed it so much more. The last book in the series and I did really enjoyed the series. Jane and Reid met in a cult and had a child. Years later and now in a relationship but has the cult follow them. When there son was convicted of a murder they have to prove his innocent. Then Jane finds out she was drugged for 3 days and can't remember, does this have something to do with her son? Reid and Jane are out to find out. Great finish to a great series and so glad I finally reread the book and so glad I enjoyed it so much more than I did the first time. If you want a clean thriller and to be thrilled this series is for you!!

Three Missing Days was a good conclusion to the Pelican Harbor series. I enjoyed following along the journey with these characters.

This book had quite a few intense moments and I liked how it wasn't easy to figure out what was really going on. The story was written very well and I felt like I flew through the story.

As with the previous books, I really liked the characters and the romance. It was a great second chance romance story and the ending was wonderful.

All in all, Three Missing Days was a very good read and one I recommend. I think you should read the series in order, though. :)

This book is a fantastic conclusion to the series. The tension is high and corkscrews tighter with each chapter. Both Jane and Reid have significant opportunities walk away from their faith but choose to stay committed to God. Add in complex family relationships, mysteries from the past colliding with tragedies today, and you have a book that will leave readers deeply satisfied. Highly recommend!

The third of Police Chief Jane Hardy adventures, with a house fire killing a woman and fire fighter. As the investigation unfolds, Jane’s personal family history is once again caught up in the drama, with previous readers aware of her back story. It’s another gentle crime instalment of the Pelican Harbor series by the prolific author Colleen Coble. Despite its publicity as a mystery thriller, it is a romantic suspense with numerous god references that detract from the plot. With a schmaltzy ending and lacking in tension and gravitas, a disappointing two-star rating. With thanks to NetGalley and the author for a preview copy for review purposes. I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

Three Missing Days is the third and concluding book in the Pelican Harbour series by Colleen Coble.
Jane plunges into a local fire murder case and goes looking for answers from her past when she receives a call that her son Will has had a confrontation with someone and then ends up in juvenile detention.
Jane and Reid, ever the loving parents, frantically try to uncover evidence to clear their sons name. All avenues seem to lead back to the three missing days Jane experienced as a teenager, and what they uncover is both shocking and sickening for them both.
I have read book one and this one (book 3) but even though I've not read book 2, I've managed to fill in some blanks as I read through this book.

'Where was God right now? She couldn't feel him. Forsaken. That was the feeling rising in her chest.'

Colleen Coble brings us the conclusion to her Pelican Harbor series with this fast-paced novel. Jane Hardy, chief of police in small Pelican Harbor, dives into an investigation of a fire that has claimed two lives. And it's not accidental. At the same time, Jane's personal life has taken a most dramatic turn. Her fifteen year old son is arrested for a murder and Jane must trust her ex, Will's father, with both her heart and to prove Will is not guilty.

'Can't you feel it? I sense walls closing in around us, hemming us in, trying to get us to make a mistake.'

Three days are missing from a very traumatic time in Jane's past and if she could only remember those days, it would go incredibly far in solving both these cases.

Coble has written a best series since her Rock Harbor one with these three books. She creates multiple layers in each book, ramping up the excitement and intrigue every few chapters. She saved the best for last because I had trouble tearing myself away from this story to do life. She ratchets up the suspense, keeping the reader guessing. I did not have a clue who the culprit was, even though I was constantly trying to figure it out. I loved every single minute and Coble brings it to a very special closing. Loved this series so very much. Well done!

This was a beautiful finale to a great trilogy. I’m glad I was able to read all three books in a short amount of time, because the first two definitely left me hanging and ready for this one. The familial issues just kept getting more and more complex. That created such a wonderful atmosphere. The murder mystery was saturated in tension and suspense, which I loved.

I absolutely LOVED this series, and the final piece in this one is, per usual for Coble's books, unexpected. Please, do yourself a favor and read the first 2 books in the series first. You need the past to understand the future for these characters. Author Coble doesn't disappoint!

The characters in the Pelican Harbor series are ones that will stick with you long after you read the books. Jane Hardy has done nothing but try and protect her son from the very beginning...but can she protect him when he's connected to a murder? What secrets from the past will follow her into the future?

If you like police/detective/suspense stories with characters that have overcome significant obstacles, quaint harbor towns that sometimes harbor more than ships and a faith journey woven throughout, the Pelican Harbor series is for you. Coble is detailed, thorough and has a firm grasp on crafting characters that jump off the page. She also takes the time to know the settings she writes about, as the specific descriptors take you *right* there.

I was an early reader, thanks to Thomas Nelson Publishers and NetGalley. All opinions are my own

A complex murder mystery rounds out book three of the exciting Pelican Harbor series! Continuing on from book two, the main characters find themselves dead center in someone's vendetta, bringing the danger close to home. There are two murders to solve this time, plus a cold case.

"We have to trust God, even when it's hard."
Building onto the backstory from the previous books in the series, book 3 ties up loose ends of both Jane's and Reid's stories. Both have a need to forgive some huge wrongs done to them. They bring each other comfort as they turn to their faith for help. The author includes meaningful discussions about trusting God in the midst of difficult circumstances, dealing with doubts, and not losing hope. It was encouraging to read.

The romance takes it up a few notches in this book, but is appropriate given the situation. Emotional tension runs high as they are severely tested. I liked how the author brings healing into Jane's relationships as she wrestles with her past. The unique aspect of having lived in a cult plays a big part in her story still, coloring her present perspective. She had a lot to overcome.

Recommend this exciting series to fans of romantic suspense with faith. It is best enjoyed by reading the books in order.

The final book in the Pelican Harbor series comes together to bring to conclusion many of the mysteries developed in the earlier two. Chief of Police Jane Hardy finds herself in a bind when she has to recuse herself from a murder investigation due to conflict of interest while others she is close to are deep into trouble and attempting to solve the mystery. She finds that as much as she doesn't want to she must contact her mother in order to seek information that will help unwind this convoluted mystery.

Once again the small town of Pelican Harbor is truly charming even though it is steeped in troubles. Characters reappear from the first two books along with Jane Hardy's friend, Reid Dixon and his son, Will. Her police dog, Parker, as always has a role in helping solve the mystery.

Well written, thoroughly enjoyable conclusion to this series.

"Faith was about walking where you couldn't see the path."

What if three missing days in your life held the keys to your son's future? That's the challenge facing Chief of Police Jane Hardy at the moment. Buried deep within the recesses of her mind is an event so traumatic that she has never even considered digging it up. But now? She must.

Re-establishing contact with significant figures from her past could not only prove dangerous to her psyche, but could also set off a chain of events with the power to destroy those whom she has grown to love the most, including the father of her son, Reid Dixon. Will Jane choose to take the ultimate walk of faith?

Readers will absolutely inhale this series conclusion with its breath taking urgency, and satisfying sweetness!

9/10 ⭐️ I enjoyed the third book in this series that follows Chief of Police Jane Hardy as she seeks to solve several murders in Pelican Harbor. Each book follows a different mystery, but the overall personal story continues from books one to three.

I followed the murder mystery in this book with interest. I liked that several mysteries were going on at the same time. I also really enjoyed the family drama that has continued throughout this series. The action got more and more dramatic, and the tension was very personal to the characters and stretched their faith in God.

What I loved most about this series was having the same main characters throughout. It seems most series now have a new main character in each book. I like that approach too, but it's nice to read a series about one character too. Lots of cult craziness and strained relationships in the pages.

Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) provided by the Author and Publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an fair and honest review.

Earth to Jane: Get over yourself. My biggest beef with this series is the heroine with a chip on her shoulder the size of a redwood. It's getting really old. The series started out really great. The plot was original and the setting beautiful. The second book was a dud, lots of plot holes and disjointed narrative. This book wants you to take some pretty far-fetched leaps, when in reality you know this could not possibly happen. I had to tell myself "Stop yelling at the book. It's not the book's fault these characters are so stupid." Wait, yes it is.

A bit of history here. If you plan on reading the other books in this series, just skip this paragraph.
Jane Hardy and Reid Bechtol were part of a cult as children. They were "married" when Jane was 15 and she gave birth to a son, Will, who she was told had died. He didn't. Reid and Will have found Jane and want to reunite. Jane, as you can imagine, has major trust issues.

Chief of Police, Jane Hardy, has her hands full. The whole situation with Reid's wife, Lauren, returning from the dead just as Jane and Reid are growing close is bad enough, but Reid, the father of her son, Will, has withheld information from her and she is not sure she can trust him. Then she is called to the scene of an probable arson fire with a dead body. At least that is something to take her mind off her personal problems.

When the pesky wife turns up dead and Jane and Reid's son, Will, is the only suspect, things take a decidedly nasty turn. Jane can't take part in the investigation, but it sure looks like someone has it in for her and Reid and is using Will. When it all circles back to the cult, Jane has some tough questions for both her estranged mother and her father, but the answers lead her right back to the murders in her own backyard.

3.5 stars!

Characters: Since I read the first two books in this series, I enjoyed seeing Jane, Reid, Will, and several other characters again. Jane overcame a lot of her past in this book and got her happy ending. Is that a spoiler? I struggled a little with her character in this one. I know she was going through some bad times, but she cried a lot when she was supposed to be doing her job as the chief of police and didn't seem to be doing her job well. Maybe I'm just in an unsympathetic mood. :)

Language: Clean.

Moral: The main theme was trusting God during bad times.

Plot: The plot kept my attention throughout and had several suspenseful moments, especially near the end. I did feel like Jane and Reid gave up too soon while questioning certain suspects. I know this was to keep the plot moving, but I wish they'd shown a little more diligence.

Random comments: I didn't like the confusion regarding whether Reid was married. Yes, I know he'd believed his wife to be dead. Yes, I know she was a terrible person. But he'd found out she was alive and was still dating Jane. It was pretty sketchy to me. :)

Romance: Clean. A few kisses. I did think at least one of the romantic scenes could've been a little less romantic.

Writing: The writing style fit the story well.

Overall: I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to readers who like Christian fiction and romantic suspense.

Chief of Police Jane Hardy plunges into the investigation of a house fire that claimed the life of a local woman as well as one of the firefighters. It’s clear the woman was murdered. But why? The unraveling of Jane’s personal life only makes the answers in the case more difficult to find.

Then Jane’s fifteen-year-old son is accused of a horrific crime, and she has to decide whether or not she can trust her ex, Reid, in the attempt to prove Will’s innocence—and whether she can trust Reid with her heart.

Three days of Jane’s past are missing from her memory, and that’s not all that has been stolen from her. As she works to find the woman’s murdered and clear her son’s name, finding out what happened in those three days could change everything.

This is the third and last book in the Pelican Harbor series. I haven’t read the first two books, but as I went along reading this, I could slowly fill in the gaps and I didn’t feel that I was missing much.

I really loved the way the book started off; it grasped my attention right away. The plot was so fast and action packed. There are several mysteries and investigations going on along with some personal family drama, all of which adds to the excitement.

I think this is a perfect read for someone like me who loves detective or police procedural investigative suspenseful books!

Thank You NetGalley and Thomas Nelson--FICTION for this ARC!

3 and 1/2 stars rounded to 4.

After a wonderful start I found Three Missing Days started to lose my interest as the mix of suspense and normal life was somewhat weird in the telling. I stuck with it not expecting much while at the same time expecting to finish the book with at least 3 stars since I’ve found in the past Coble’s books to drag and then pick up.

Wow, was I glad I stuck with it. The second half of the book grabbed my attention and with a few groans at slow places I was still eager to find out what would happen to the characters and where the story was going.

This isn’t your normal suspense as it is so much … more. It ends with a beautiful redeeming end after a story that was at times quite stark.

Content warnings: mentions of past mistakes, dealings with cults, murders, threats, and more of the like.

Suggested for 18+

I voluntarily received and reviewed a complimentary e/copy of this book which I received from the author/publisher. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

Chief of Police Jane Hardy faces multiple challenges simultaneously in both her professional and personal life in this story. She's investigating arson that included 2 fatalities, a murdered woman and a firefighter. Her boyfriend's supposedly dead wife has returned and wants her husband back. Jane's 15 year old son is arrested. A survivalist group is camping nearby. This is the old cult she got away from. There are 3 days when Jane left the cult that are a blank spot for her.

I liked the first book in this series. I didn't read the second book; maybe I missed something and that's why I didn't really think this one was as good as the first. However, there was a lot going on in this story - maybe too much. I still liked Jane, plus police dog Parker who I wish had a bigger role. The book was ok but unfortunately, I won't remember it next week.

Wow! I'm all in from the beginning of this book until the end.
This series just keeps getting better and better!
I love love this author and she know just how to add all the right ingredients to make a sit on the edge of your seat biting your fingernails waiting to see what happens to the characters.
Some of this I never saw coming. Even more exciting in my opinion!
What I really love about this series is how the author portrays teamwork. It's actually how it's how should be done. Even in real life no matter where you work.
I especially love that the author included God.
Here's a favorite quote from the book.
Olivia is telling Jane that "God is never cruel. He always has a plan and he sees beyond this temporal life. It might not be what we'd have chosen but he always works things together for the good."
Yes, the Lord is good. Always!
I highly recommend this book! So exciting that you'll finish it before you know it!

I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.

First of all, when it comes to mystery and suspense, you cannot beat Colleen Coble for high-quality writing, riveting plots, and most importantly, completely appropriate language and situations throughout. While there is action and evil is present, the faith element is consistently woven into these stories with grace, ease, and authenticity.

This book is fast-paced, tender, exciting, and the best kind of book one could read any time of the year. While I am unfamiliar with the other books in the series, my interest has been piqued. This book captured my attention. It is as though there was something for everyone.

Colleen is a master at red herrings, plot twists, and even a few tender moments along the way. This is the ultimate in cozy mystery/thriller books, and I highly recommend this book to all who love a good, old-fashioned mystery. Read all the way through the end, and you will probably be surprised by the conclusion. While "bad things happen to good people," I found this tale satisfyingly filled with suspense.

Three Missing Days is the final book in The Pelican Harbor series. I suggest that if you have not read the first two in the series that you read them in order. The mystery started in the first book which revolves around the cult is wrapped up in the third and final book.

Jane and Reid are growing closer in this book but his ex-wife Lauren is an obstacle. She disappeared out of his life for 7 years and was declared legally dead but she is claiming she is still married and is demanding a big chunk of his assets to go away.

Then the worst thing happens is that their son is accused of murdering a woman. They know he is innocent but they must work feverously to prove his innocence.

I stayed up late reading this book and read all but the last hour in one session. I highly recommend this book for all people who love romantic suspense.

Three Missing Days by Colleen Coble is the third book in the Pelican Harbor series. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series. This book features the heroine and hero, Jane and Reid as they rush to solve a murder that implicates their son as the killer. There is so much action and so many layers to this book that I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. This book is original and had the perfect amount of romance too. I loooooved the ending. The finale to the Pelican Harbor trilogy felt just as my 2 stars says. Ok. There was suspense but I had had enough of the characters. Redundant dialogue and inconsistent character description. Drawn out drama and storylines that seemed convoluted and converged.

Also this trilogy needs to be read in order.
Narrator was o.k.

Perhaps I was just expecting more from Coble's writing. However, I have enjoyed other of her writing.

This is the conclusion to the Pelican Harbor series and what an enjoyable story it turned out to be. This story finds Reid's ex-wife and Will's adoptive mother show up once again in Pelican Harbor. She wants money, not Reid or Will, but will do whatever she needs to get what she wants. When she ends up dead after falling off the dock at Reid's house, Will is arrested for murder. Can Reid and Jane find the evidence they need to prove his innocence. There are all kinds of things happening in this story dealing with Jane's past, including finding her mother, dealing with figures from her days in the cult and trying to figure out what happened during her Three Missing Days, just before she escaped the cult.

This is a fast paced conclusion to this trilogy. Jane and Reid are tested to the limit in this book. They have to unearth all the secrets from their past in order to move forward. All of their family and friends, especially Jane's friends in the police department, add to the depth of the story. I like stories with cold cases, and I really liked how Colleen Coble tied the present day crime to past events. There were several tense moments and a lot of suspense. Family had to come together to deal with all the various aspects of this story and it was great to finally see Jane and her father show how they feel about one another. This is a Christian fiction story and there are times where the characters call on their faith to move forward and not give up. I enjoyed this story and I was so happy to see Jane and Reid finally get their happily ever after. I did a read/listen with this book and the narrator was Devon O'Day. She did an exceptional job with the voices, emotions and pacing. She was able to convey the suspense and depth of the story. I enjoyed her narration and she made the book much more compelling for me.

Scrolling through my kindle in the weekend as I lay on my MIL's new seat swing, I was looking for something to read and came across Three Missing Days by Colleen Coble. I love the fact that this series can be read as standalones and are great Christian Romantic Suspense. In Three Missing Days, Chief Jane Hardy is settling back into life as the guy she loved and her son Will are back in Pelican Harbor after escaping life in a cult. Jane thought they were dead. Now though, just as life is settling down for Jane, Reed, and Will - Reed's ex-wife and the one who adopted Will when he was a baby - Lauren is back in town. Lauren vanished 8 years ago and had been declared legally dead, however, she isn't and wants Reed back and if she can't have him then she would love compensation and what she thinks she rightly deserves. If that wasn't bad enough, Gabriel- the cult leader where Jane and Reed first met is back in town and wants Jane dead as she knows something that could harm him. The thing though it occurred during three missing days that Jane can't recall. What happened with Jane and her mother during those three days and why is Lauren back in town? What's her agenda? Overall, if you are looking for a good romantic CF series to sink your teeth into with the feel of a small-town, then check out Colleen Coble's Pelican Harbor series today.
