Mmmmmm I took a lot of issue with this book. First off, one of its selling points is that it's beautifully designed, which is true. But that seems like a red flag to me, since the most central point of a book is, you know, the words. Secondly, this was clearly a book meant for women, which I find strange because grace is a universal concept and is not gender specific. The central story in the book is the author's struggle with IVF, which is totally fine, but she does make it all about her. And the book is not super compassionate-- the author belittles her past self by wishing she hadn't been so angry, which is easy to say when you have made it through a struggle and are on the other side. Overall, the points that were made are pretty trite and Christian-throw-pillow-esque. To be fair, I know that these kind of books really bless some people and I'm sure this one has. But to me it fell flat.
This book was fine but the ideas were nothing new. Each chapter spoke about different ways to give grace to yourself, friends, how God gives Grace to us and more but none of it was earthshattering.
My biggest issue with the book was almost every chapter was about the authors struggle with IVF. One or two chapters of discussing it would be fine but every chapter of her telling the same story with who she needed to give grace to during that time of her life was too much.
I don't have any suggestions but if you are looking for books about Grace, I feel like there are probably better ones.
Her message is amazing. She struggles with infertility and while i don’t have that i see where she is coming from. Looking into the message rather than the topic, it’s a great read for those who are struggling with life issues.
