If I were to describe this author I would say that she was one of those motivational speakers who dabbled in psychology as well as white magic. Her style is different from all the teachers and motivators I have listened to over the years, and that probably is the reason for her success. I think her style is more for the board room or office staff (5 star) than the maintenance shop or loading dock (2 star), my having been in both worlds.

I won this cute little book in the Goodreads Giveaway.

*I received this book from a Goodreads Giveaway in exchange for an honest review*

This isn’t really a book in that it’s so short, a novella or like a preface to a larger manual would be more accurate. It wasn’t what I expected, but I liked its presentation. Overall it lacked substance; there were so many interesting ideas that were never fleshed out or fully explained. It felt rushed, like it had to be condensed in order to be understood. It would have been 4 stars if it was longer and did not contain editing errors.

I won a copy of this one in a Goodreads Giveaway. I expected it to be just another leadership book, but I was pleasantly surprised. It's short - only 64 pages including the blank pages at the end for you to take notes with, and yes, there's some of the leadership jargon thrown in there, and way too many references to essential oils for my liking, but when you get past the essential oil nonsense, you've got a lot of really neat ideas for increasing group cohesion, most of which could be used inside or outside of a workplace setting. There are also some really great suggestions for ways to reduce the stress that would be applicable even if you are, like me, in a WAH setting where you have all the benefits of not having to interact in person with clients or coworkers, but still have all of the stress of a normal office environment. It was also wonderfully sweet to find wish paper included in the giveaway. Wish paper isn't new - in fact, it's something that we'd play with at birthday parties and the like oh, 20 or so years ago, and I had no idea it was even still made anymore. If you haven't played with wish paper before, I really recommend it - it's so neat to watch it burn. That said, because one of the activities uses wish paper, it was a really spiffy treat to have it included with the giveaway book. All in all, I don't know if I'll ever use these activities in the manner in which they were intended, but I will try most of them at least once, particularly the stress-relieving activities, because if any year needs that - it's 2020.

I enjoyed it, but I wish there was more to it. I feel like the topics were glossed over a little and that some were very rushed for being such a short book. I do think the tips are very practical in the sense of a small group, but larger organizations, departments, teams or groups would probably struggle to implement or accomplish quite a number of the recommendations. For having won this in the giveaway, I’m pleased with it because I know a number of these things I can do personally or with a few people in my direct team.

I read this book and later shared it with my team at work. We all loved this cute little book, it was inspirational, and touched on a few topics without being overly long and drawn out. It reminded us of our “mind yoga” webinars we like to attend for team bonding.

Goodreads giveaway. I really recommend this book for individuals and teams, especially in the workplace. It’s quick, positive, and overall very enjoyable.

Short. Sweet. Simple. To the point. This book was awesome! I’ve been trying out some of the activities in the book with my coworkers and it’s made a big impact!

I also let a client read this and she said it was a little emotional for her because it was just what she needed to read.

I just finished reading this book and I have had a couple of bosses that definitely need to read this. If I was still working there, I would leave it on one of their desks.

I won this book from Goodreads and the accompanying journal prompt cards from the author's Instagram. Yay!

The title does not convey that this booklet is intended in a corporate setting or a work situation where there are multiple employees. I had hoped there would be components I could adapt to being a small business owner and artist. Truthfully, almost all of the exercises that could be adapted are things I already practice on my own. That said, the booklet's activities are very simple and can easily be used for any business with a team and if your team is not open to the woo-woo aspects, those can be removed and the exercises would probably be every bit as effective. The flying wish paper exercise is especially empowering.

I refer to is as a booklet because it is technically 36 pages, not 64. I definitely think the author could expand on what she has here to double the size and this would develop into a real gem. As it is, it feels a bit as if she was holding back.

I gave this booklet 4/5 stars because, despite the activities being rather simple, one cannot deny that sometimes the simple things work most effectively. That said, the activities she shared were superior to any I have felt forced to participate in when I was in a team setting and if they used her approach I might not have felt so much like a disenchanted and replaceable cog. There are activities that allow for both extroverts and introverts without making anyone feel like they have to speak if they were uncomfortable and yet still had the opportunity to be heard.
