You know how all you want to do on the 4th of July is hang out with the family, watch some fireworks, and enjoy yourself? Well, sometimes other people have other plans. Like, murderous plans. The woman who was arguing with everyone on the beach should have kept quiet. Because sometimes arguing with someone can get you killed. The real question was, how did the murderer pull it off without being seen? And why? My family and I only wanted to enjoy the holiday at the beach. What we got was another murder to solve. It would take the lot of us to figure out who did it.
In this 9th book Allie, her family and friends celebrate on the beach the 4th of July. But in the evening a woman is murdered just next to them. Who is the murderer? The book has nice and cozy atmosphere as always in this serie. That's why this is one of my favourite series. I also like Allie, Lucy and Alec, main characters. I am looking forward to read next book in the serie.
I love this series and the author. What started out for Allie, Alec and her family and friends at the beach for the Fourth of July , to picnic and watch the fireworks, there was a more menacing act happening not far from where they were sitting. There had been a couple arguing not far from them earlier that afternoon, that slot of people overheard and couldn't help it, they were just that loud. It happened to be a friend of Allie's cousin visiting. The fireworks were great, until what they found after that really bummed everyone out. Who could have done it, but they knew why she wasn't a very pleasant person at all. Now Alec has to get to the bottom of it and find out: who and why? Of course Allie and Lucy get involved. A lot of people on the beach to question on who might of seen something. I laid the ground work, it's up to you to read to find the answers.
Another twisty mystery with plenty of suspects, secrets and suspense. Allie's background as a runner sure came in handy during the showdown. I bet she ups her game a little after that since she was telling Alec how she'd been slacking off her running.
I love how Allie finds Mr. Winters at the coffee shop and gets the latest scoop on town gossip from him. He's a cool character even though he's not in the stories a whole lot. But hopefully after Mr. Winters' curious question, Allie and Alec might decide on a wedding date soon. Will be borrowing the next on KU soon!
I always enjoy these, but it is time for me to read from one of the other series for a book or two, because I do get burned out if I read too many in a row. I love the holiday themed stories, but I'm much more a fan of the fall/winter holidays.
At any rate, this one was good, and I enjoyed it. I had no idea who the killer would be, but I also didn't put much effort into trying to figure it out.
As always, I highly recommend this series (and others by this author) to those who are looking for light little cozy mysteries!
