The clock is ticking, however, as Zeus is also searching for her, so that he may put an end to her life. Will they be able to find her before Zeus does? Or will this turn into an all-out battle until the end?

The Daughter of Hades series by Dani Hoots receives a 2.75 rating from me.
The concept was interesting, a human, Huntley, who dies from a drug overdose ends up in love with Chrysanthemum, (Chrys)), the daughter of Hades and Persephone. Chrys is kept a secret from the other gods because she was not supposed to be born and stays in the underworld with her father Hades. Chrys wants to experience what it is like in the human world so her, Huntley and her other friend A. J., secretly travel to London for a short “holiday” that is only to last a couple days. It is not long before Chrys is discovered by other gods and demigods who happen to be in London. She is seen as a threat because she possesses powers to kill and/or bring something back to life including the ability to kill the gods and immortals like Zeus. Before she can escape back into Hades, she is pursued by the gods so she can be turned over to Zeus who wants her dead. Soon she is trapped in the human world and being chased by the gods ultimately to face Zeus himself. To save her father, Hades and herself, she is given the choice to marry Zeus or be killed. Huntley, Hades and Persephone are all against this union and with the help of Prometheus and some lesser gods they decide to trick Zeus so she won’t have to marry him. There is a lot of deception and it is unclear who is friend and who is foe as allegiances change constantly.
The story is told through alternating perspectives of Chrys and Huntley. The concept is fun with the Greek gods in modern times, and the contrast of the immortal’s perspectives as opposed to the human perspective as seen through Huntley’s eyes. There is, of course, a lot of conflict, physical as well as emotional, misconceptions, missteps, etc. to make the story flow and stay interesting, though it was a bit too long and drug out. Could have been just as good as a duology or maybe a trilogy. It does have a spin off duology coming, Queen of Hades series where Chrys and Huntley return to save her father.
From the writing style and how the story is told, characters behavior, language and such, I believe this series is more geared for middle school aged children. There is a lot of use of the “f-word” in this series which many people would believe is not appropriate for middle grade children, but I believe that is the reason it would appeal to them more so. At that age, not only are they aware of the “f-word”, but often that age group tend to over-utilize it in their vocabulary, (my theory is they erroneously believe by using the term in their interactions with their peers it makes them sound more “adult”). Due to the language, I can understand why a librarian or a teacher could not recommend this series to a middle school -age pupil, but it is written for that age group nonetheless. Older people such as high school age and above may be able to overlook the juvenile style and appreciate the story for the Greek gods and how they are portrayed, and how Chrys feels alienated from her mother, feeling she is the reason her mother is estranged from her and Hades.

Chrys is being held captive by Prometheus but she doesn’t know it as she has lost her memories due to Prometheus’ interference. Huntley is doing everything in his power with the help of a few friends to try and find out where she is being held so they can save her.

In the meantime, Zeus is also looking for Chrys as he now wants to kill her. None of the Gods or goddesses are willing to help Huntley as they are afraid of Prometheus. All of the Gods are also afraid of Chrys because of how powerful she is. Chrys has the ability to take or give life. She can even kill the Gods if she so chooses.

I felt so bad for Chrys throughout the whole book for one reason or another. I kept wondering and hoping that her memories would return before it was too late. But I was so afraid they wouldn’t because of what Prometheus used to take them away.

Like the title says Enchanted is a very magically enchanting read with twists after twists that keeps the pages turning. Enchanted sorely loved to hang on to its secrets only revealing them one at a time, very slowly. But that is what makes for a good book and keeps you hanging on wanting more. You know like a story that never ends. I can’t wait to read more of Dani Hoots's books as she is one great storyteller.

I highly recommend Enchanted just as highly as I recommended the three books before it to all fans of Greek Mythology, Gods, goddesses, and magic. One-click your copy of Enchanted today for a magical read! Grab a copy of Endangered book one, Engaged book two, and Entangled book three as well as I’m sure you don’t want to miss a minute of the Daughter of Hades Series!

I’m really disappointed at this ending. The twist at the end of the previous book was so good and things started off really well with this volume, but then it simply went downhill and the final battle was simply frustrating. Neither Huntley nor Chrys develop as individuals over the course of this entire series, despite all the life-changing things they experience. That was immensely irritating, especially when Chrys was just in a loop of “have to try and defeat Zeus, but he’s too strong, and give up” with one tragedy after another coming about because of her lack of faith in herself. She doesn’t harness anything, all the lessons she learned about her powers over the series and particularly at the start of this book feel like fluff because she never really used them when it mattered.
While the message that prophecies come true precisely because of the actions of those trying to prevent them is a good one and definitely resonates with the Greek mythology underlying this series, it simply wasn’t executed in a way that made me feel satisfied.
Curiously enough, the character I ended up liking most is Hermes because he was actually complex and, as a result, kept me on my toes because he was unpredictable.
So, if you enjoy plot-driven stories spanning the YA/NA divide that are a little darker, this is for you. If you actually want a character arc to go along with the twisty plot, there are other books you’ll really enjoy.

Finally we get to book number 4 in this series. Aj is still alive and somehow all the torture he continues to endure is comical!

Lots of action and drama in this one all leading up to an epic showdown with Chrys, Zeus and Hades. While there is a conclusion to this series there is also a cliff hanger leading up to a new series. I didn’t even realize it until I got to the end!

Again I have to say Huntley is the MVP. He made the entire series!

Finished this one much quicker than the last one. Mainly because I was focused on getting it done and it was an easier read. The action was more ongoing. There was some back and forth of the same information but it kept moving the story forward this time instead of a whole book of not that much happening. I might check out some other books by this author later down the road.

Kidnapped and held. Chrys has been kidnapped and held on an Island. And that's just the beginning of the adventure! Dani Hoots brings this series to a rousing ending in Enchanted. You will find battles, deceit, and plots in this terrific book.
