What the fuck. Amazon, how can you do me like that?! You keep recommending me incest books (which I LOVE that fact) but every single one ends up pissing me the fuck off.
4% in and I’m already raging. Because the sister is at her brother’s WEDDING. Noooooo. I hate that shit!!! If I was a DNFer I would’ve seriously done so right then and there. But I’m not. Luckily this was a short book.
We get all the backstory. Lots of OM and OW featured in their teen years. Then while the brother is married and the sister is living with her boyfriend, they keep fucking. They’re both using their partners as “beard” so they can be together. I HATE CHEATERS. There needs to be some trigger warnings or some shit. If I knew I wouldn’t have picked this up. ⚠️Goodreads peeps, this is your warning. ⚠️
There is NO HEA at the end. Urghhhhh why can’t I just get a nice fluffy incest story where the angst doesn’t involve people outside of their relationship? I can handle any other angst except OW/OM. Fuckkkk.
Oh and this was all written in 2nd person POV. So weird.
Okay, sorry. Rant over. I’m just feeling really strongly about this right now. 1.5⭐️ for this, rounded down. Cause I’m just so mad.
I was like "oh nice, an incest romance that's not banned on amazon and it's on KU". Welp, my bad though, it has no HEA 🙂🔫.
My first time with 2nd person pov. Had to get used to it at first and separate my brain thinking the narrator is calling on me but I ended up liking it. It's not a very deep story as it's too short for that, but I would've liked a warning that it does not have a hea for a book that promotes "romance" on the cover. The non-hea was also too rushed, it was over within 5 sentences.
I really loved this and made me cry because of how it ends, they always were torn apart and I was rooting for them even though they were using a lot of people, her boyfriend was a good guy and I felt bad for him. Also for his wife, these other people really didn't know what they got themselves into.
I don't know why I immediately thought about Cersei-Jaime Lannister haha of course just speaking about their strong twin connection since kids, parents that are there but don't give them much attention... They were each other's world and IT HAD TO END THAT WAY. I NEVER SAW THAT COMING!!
Also the fact that it's said that Silver looks a little like Travis Fimmel I was like daaaaaaaaamn.
I read the ending because I couldn’t find a good spoiler review, so here you go 🙂.
This is not a HEA.
This is essentially Serena’s love letter to Silver describing their story from the very beginning after he gets killed in a robbery. Serena then kills herself, unable to live without him. After struggling with their relationship for so long, they had finally decided to leave it all behind and move where no one knows them so they can love each other, but they never get their HEA.
They each have other partners they’re using to hide their relationship with each, so lots of cheating. I loved their relationship though.

‘Powder of Pearls’ by Miko Cervantes was such a emotional rollercoaster, though the ride was cut abruptly. It pulled my heartstrings in the right directions–it felt like I was reading a love letter–where the couple don’t have a happily ever after. Our story begins with our main blonde protagonists: Silver and Serena. Their family owns a hotel with a beach, and the two siblings were given their own separate suites next to each other. They are normal teenagers–partying all night–hooking up with guests. They’re both twins meaning they share a deep bond. As they grew older, they started to view each other in a sexual manner.
During one particular night, Serena is making with her boyfriend –she was thinking of giving her virginity to him that day– her paranoid brother disrupts their alone time. Then Both twins can’t take it anymore, they confessed, and embraced each other. They decided to break up with their respective partners, and continued their taboo relationship
Unfortunately, they encountered a obstacle on the road–their parents discovered them doing it on their birthday–relationship with their parents was ruined and the two were forcibly separated from one another. Serena was exiled to her aunt’s house and studied journalism, and Silver remained in the hotel going to culinary school and learning cooking by his mother’s side.
I admired Serena’s character, she was kicked out from her home–but she didn’t lash out–instead worked as a waitress while going to college. She preferred a quiet life, even after finding out her brother had already found a girlfriend. She didn’t let it affect her and started to go out with a resident doctor. I did feel sorry for Andrew, he was naturally hardworking person and treated her with care–even though he cheated around the end.
I dislike the fact these siblings were committing infidelity. Doing it to repair their strained relationship with each other doesn’t excuse unfaithfulness, the author could have them break up with their respective partners before embracing one another once again.
I took a liking to Silver’s yearning for his soulmate, he couldn’t live without her and tried to take his own life. He protected her from their father, even gaining a scar. He reminded me of a knight in shining armour, having her back and showcasing bravery.
But, i place the blame on Silver for committing incest with his sister. If on that day, he didn’t interrupt the couple out of jealousy–they wouldn’t have broken the taboo–dismissed it as puberty hormones and actually would have lived. Silver neither would have to sacrifice his life to save his sister, and Serena wouldn’t have taken her own life.
The author displayed a message at the end, that siblings can’t be together because it’s forbidden. Moments before disaster–we were led to believe the two could finally be together. But after seeing Silver’s sacrifice, it bought a tear to my eye. Serena had lost apart of her soul–they were together since conception–the other can’t survive without it’s lifeline. I truly wished for a happily ever after, but I’m satisfied with this ending.I can imagine them finally in peace in the afterlife, with no one to separate them. —A, Starrior
The whole story was written like a love letter. It was gorgeous. And tragic. And I couldn't put it down. I really wished for the ending that the characters had planned out for themselves though. That's the only reason for me knocking a star off , because I'm spoilt and wanted my hea 😭
The ending😭😭😭 oh my god I can't breathe. This was a roller coaster. 😪 I don't even know what to say. I felt like I was reading a poem. Beautifully tragic.
I could see where this was trying to go but it missed the mark. It really needed to be proof read and edited. It read like a first draft tbh. But it had a good plot, while disturbing and taboo, it was moving and made you feel for the characters.
This one…..though it’s taboo and a short story, it dragged me so high and low. I cried! I rarely cry! It’s fast but read it. Won’t give any spoilers but it’s amazing.
