Fans of James Patterson and Michael Connelly will love C.M. Sutter. The middle-of-the-night phone call is becoming a regular occurrence for Chicago homicide detective Jesse McCord. These calls rarely result in good endings, and after his latest three a.m. call, Jesse’s officially on the clock as he and his team begin a fast-paced hunt for a vicious killer. Only one witness—a thirteen-year-old girl—has lived to give a description of the perpetrator, and that’s only from a split-second glimpse of the man. Even after he is on police radar, the killer finds a way to stay one step ahead of the detectives while leaving a slew of dead bodies in his wake. A multistate chase brings the help that Jesse desperately needs, and once captured, the killer reveals the jaw-dropping explanation for his murderous rampage. An act of jealousy and deception has set the wheels in motion, and the results are devastating, with seven innocent people needlessly killed. C.M. Sutter was born in San Jose, California and split time between the sunny California coast and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. As a senior in high school, she chose Wisconsin as her permanent address. After many years in the Badger State, she decided on a warmer year-round climate to call home and moved south. Years of progression took her from working in large companies, to twelve years as a massage therapist, and finally, owning a corporation. She has been self-employed for over twenty years. Ms. Sutter has been writing and self-publishing since 2014 with eleven titles published in a different genre. Because of her deep interest in crime and thriller novels, she took up writing in the police procedural/crime thriller genre in 2016.
CM Sutter is one of my favorite authors. Although Jade Monroe is my favorite series, I did like Jesse McCord. There were several lines that repeated throughout the story, however, that won't keep me from reading another. A great pace, interesting characters (without excessive background information) and interesting story line. Couple of negatives. I thought it was very obvious why the murders started, made Jesse and company look a little stupid for taking so long to figure it out. Also, the ending was very quick. Won't elaborate on that, don't want to ruin the story for anyone.
When three or of four family members are murders in their home overnight, leaving a 13-year-old as a witness, Detective Jesse McCord is on the case. How many lives will the killer end up taking, and why? After crossing state lines, Jesse has to involve his friend, Agent Jade Monroe of the FBI to assist.
Loved it. The team work idea was incredible. I loved to see different characters in this book. Can i ask you to keep doing the same for the new books? Can’t wait for the new one. Would that be a Jade’s case or maybe another Jesse’s. i will certainly wait and see...
An excellent ending showing how pathetic people can cause unbelievable consequences and their pathetic justifications. Only one snugged which was one too many. I also have never seen or heard of such cooperation between city, county's, states and the FBI.
Love that Kate, Jade, Amber, JT and Jesse were reunited in this exasperating case. The 2 criminals who survived all of the travesties they set off finally apprehended thanks to those great detectives and agents! Great 7 th series.
Jesse works a case that gets more complicated each day, eventually bringing in the FBI to assist. Chicago is a murder mecca, but the murderer flees to northern Wisconsin and continues his violent ways.
This series has it all detectives, sheriffs, and FBI. This book was crazy because no one knew why the original people were murder. It gets crazier as it goes and ends wonderfully. This series is great so if you like mysteries read.
A novel full of law enforcement teamwork in order to stop senseless murders all bent on revenge. Seems as if Jesse and Hannah are getting closer to the big question.
Once again just as with the previous six books this one was great and can't wait to read the next in the series and highly recommend. Onto number eight😊
