Reverse harem mafia romantic suspense audiobook!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💜🩷💙💚
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌎
Character development: ☹️😍😋😤
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Amber - she is a Boston cop. She risked her job, and possibly her life to meet up with Riley with whom she was in a ‘friends with benefits’ relationship. Riley was assigned to an undercover operation in a bad part of Boston. She came from the vice squad and her new boss doesn’t have any respect for female cops, especially those that came out of vice. She wants to move up to be a detective, including being involved in undercover work.

The Heroes:
Riley - an undercover Boston cop. He is on a mission to get close to the Finnegan brothers, part of the Irish mob in Boston. He got a job as the bartender in their club.
Connor and Leo Murphy - the two brothers that ran an Irish gang out of Belfast and were betrayed and supposedly killed by a car bomb. They are now in Boston with the last name of Finnegan, building a new empire.

The Story: Amber was sick of working as a meter maid, but she had been assigned to the duty for the last three months and her boss is not letting her off. So, another boss gave her a secret undercover assignment in New Bedford. She was assigned to be a stripper in one of the Finnegan brothers' nightclubs. They told her current department that she was being assigned to New Bedford as a disciplinary measure for her bad attitude. She wasn’t fond of that but was excited by her new assignment.

Amber gets an interview at the strip club the very next day and she finds that Riley is the bartender there. Leo and Connor have her dance for them, and they hire her immediately. After talking to Riley, they immediately start to suspect that something is up. Riley had two months of training in different things, including bartending, acting lessons, espionage, which was trained by CIA specialists, and more. Yet when the brass put Amber on the case, they gave her one day of instruction which included getting her hair dyed.

I wondered how this one would work out in any way, since two of the four main characters are cops that are investigating the two outlaws. I was pleasantly surprised in the way this story went. I found out that I really liked both Connor and Leo quite a bit. I don’t want to say anything more about the plot but to say it was built more slowly than I expected even though not a lot of time went by. The brothers trusted Amber right away, mostly because they were so attracted to her, too bad they had a policy about not dating the women that worked for them.

This audiobook was told in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Curt Bonnem and Senn Annis. Senn has a nice voice, and she is good at using different voices for different characters. Though there isn’t really anything about her voice that stands out, so she isn’t one of my favorite female narrators. Curt Bonnem is good as well but isn’t in my list of top male narrators. He did a pretty good Irish accent, but I wasn’t to0 fond of it.

Lady’s luck 🍀

Sexy police ✔️
Sexy Irish men ✔️ 🍀
Bada$$ FMC ✔️✔️

This was a great, quick little RH read. I’m totally feelin all of these guys.
Amber is a new cop in Boston and just wants to put in her time and move up. Unfortunately because of her last job, her superiors are only holding her back. She quickly finds comfort in her partner Riley and things get heated.
When Riley leaves to go undercover. They both think they’ll be able to handle it. When Amber he had enough she goes in search of Riley and then ends up going in undercover herself.
She meets Connor and Leo, her marks. But are they really who they think Boston PD thinks they are? Things get heated. Amber is a woman on a mission and when she realizes she needs all 3 of her guys by her side, nothing stops this chick from making it happen.

Loved this story. I wish it was a little longer. I definitely wanted more time with Conner and Leo. Also I’m super grateful for the free bonus epilogue the author provides. Yesssssss!!!! I always love those.
It’s sexy. It’s steamy. It makes me want to go to Boston and get me an Irishman. 😉😉

*Overall 4/5
*Heat? 4/5
*First person POV all main characters
*No cheating
*HEA? Yes! Also, you can download a bonus epilogue that’s 5 yrs later

Couldn’t put this book down.

Amber is a Boston Police Officer who is stuck on ticket duty because she has a jerk of a boss.

Riley is also a cop who has been sent undercover. He’s Amanda’s work bestie and they hook up.

Amber is sent undercover and is surprised to see it’s the same case Riley is on.

Their job is to gather intel on Connor and Leo Finnegan. They are good looking Irish brothers who own bars and strip clubs in Boston.

The deeper Riley and Amber go, the more things don’t seem quite right and the closer they get to the brothers.

This was action packed and had me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out how things would work out.

Loved it.

I’ve read a decent amount of the Cassie Cole books. This one was just okay. It took a long time to get to the plot and I found myself getting frustrated with the main gal because she was making silly mistakes. The premise was cute but I just didn’t really connect with the characters or get a sense of their chemistry.

I've read a handful of Cassie Cole books now, and this is by far the best of the bunch. Unfortunately, though, I'm still not a super big fan of them.

The plot of this one was pretty good - much more interesting than others of Cole's I've read. Police officer Amber gets sent undercover to work at a strip club to gather information about Irish brothers who faked their deaths in Ireland and are now laundering money in Boston. When she arrives at the strip club, she discovers that her old partner, Riley, is currently working undercover on the same case.

All of that was really good, and all the men were well done (although Leo's accent was a bit much). What kind of ruined this for me was Amber. Unfortunately, all of Cole's heroines are the exact same character. They have a different job in each book, but otherwise they are always the same woman. And that woman is a moron who has an extremely over-inflated sense of her own superiority.

Amber is absolutely convinced that she is the most awesome cop in the world despite no evidence to prove it. The number of times she tells Riley that she'd be the perfect undercover agent because she minored in theater in college.....

description

Anyway, this incredibly awesome super cop almost blows her cover the first time she shows up at the strip club, chases after guys who leave full backpacks at the club bar because she doesn't realize they're dropping off illegal money, and takes three hours to type up a report about a one hour meeting, among other things.

Despite all of that, though, she happens to be a boxing savant who is able to give Leo, a man who made it to the Olympic qualifying semifinals, tips that help him so much that he asks her to coach him.

description

Relationship-wise, she does absolutely nothing that warrants attention from any of these men. I don't understand why a single one of them is interested in her because she has no personality beyond being convinced she's awesome. It just doesn't make any sense, and it's a problem I find in every Cole book.

Additionally, Amber feels more like a cheater than a woman in a relationship with three men. (This is the same problem I had with Smolder.) Amber was regularly sleeping with Riley before the undercover assignments, but she has sex with Connor without talking to Riley about it first.
And Connor and Leo don't approach her initially as being with both of them. First, it's just a spur of the moment thing with Connor, and then Leo is added in. It just feels like three separate arrangements to me. I prefer menages or reverse harems where it's clearer that everyone is on the same page.

I really enjoyed reading this story. The storyline had some themes that we have all seen in real life, where a woman has to work twice as hard to get half as much as a man. The characters were so believable.

Amber has been a police officer in one division or another for many years. Her boss now gives her the worst of the worst jobs just because she is a woman. Her partner, and sometimes friends with benefits, has been undercover for a few months, and she has a scratch to itch, so she sneaks to see him. Within days, she is put undercover with less than one day of preparedness/training. She is working the same case as her partner, but she is to get closer to the suspects. She is supposed to go undercover as a stripper, but when she goes to apply for the job, they don't need another stripper, she becomes a waitress.
Within a week, she is close to both brothers. What she sees is that they run a clean place, with one small exception.

Riley, Amber's partner, and friends-with-benefits lover has been undercover for three months. For the first month, he had extensive training to become a bartender. When Amber shows up at his flop apartment, he first fusses at her for taking a chance of blowing his cover, but he has really missed her. When she shows up a couple of days later at the club he is working at undercover, he is surprised. He knows she wasn't trained for her mission and he watches out for her. His story for knowing her is that he used to date her sister and he thinks of Amber as a little sister. When Amber tells him what she heard at a dinner she went to with Connor, they realize that things are what they seem, both at the club and at the station.

Connor and Leo Finnegan came right off the boat from Ireland where they faked their death to get out of all the illegal businesses they had become involved in. They want to start fresh in America and have been buying up clubs. They run them clean, no illegal business at all. When a crooked businessman learns their secret, he blackmails them into laundering his dirty money. When he tries to up the anties, they balk. Connor is the businessman of the two and Leo is the muscles. Leo likes to do bare-knuckle fighting. They are both attracted to Amber and don't quite know what to make of her. She makes herself invaluable to each of them in different ways.

YOU WILL BE HOOKED FROM THE FIRST CHAPTER!!! AMAZING READ
Amber is a policewoman who is hating her life at the moment as her sergeant doesn't see any potential in her. But Amber knows she is better than just looking to ping people for parking tickets! So when she gets asked to go undercover she accepts even not knowing what the case is. But she soon finds out she is about to be thrown into the frying pan. Her cover story is that she is a dancer/waitress needing a job to gain information about the Finnegan brothers who own the club. But instead of getting weeks of training she finds herself in front of them within days. NO training given.
She nearly blows her cover when she sees Riley working as a bartender. He is also an undercover policeman who used to be her partner and they may possible slept together a few times. He has been uncover for months and had no idea she would be there.
Connor and Leo have a past. Brothers from Ireland who needed to disappear and make a new life for themselves but they trusted no one except for each other. They have rules. No getting involved with the staff but that doesn't stop they from really liking Amber. They give her a job.
Now its Amber and Riley's job to gather the information needed to take these two down for the crimes they are committing.
This a fantastic read there are so many layers to this tale. It will have you hooked from the very beginning and you wont want to put it down so make a flask of tea and get ready to be totally lost in this amazing book!!! Easy 5 Star

I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. This story is about Amber who is a policewoman that is sent undercover to get close to two Irish criminals. Her ex partner and part time lover, Riley, is already working on the same assignment. He has been given months to prepare but is actually making little headway. What Amber is thrown into the deep end from day one, things aren't really adding up. Conner and Leo are brothers who were involved in crimes in their home country of Ireland. Their plan was to leave their lives behind and start over legal in America. The police investigation into the brothers brings more questions than answers. The more Riley and Amber are able to discuss, they realize that things may not be as their boss believes. Amber finds herself falling in love with all three men. Every decision she makes brings her closer to losing everything she wants. You will truly enjoy this story and figuring out the pieces. This book contains drama, criminals of all kinds, and heat off the charts. Cassie once again delivered a great story.

Amber is a meter maid wanting to get a promotion in her be in certain position.. However the people that are her supervisors are pretty much old school and think women should only be in certain jobs. Riley is an undercover cop that Amber has a casual relationship with. He recommends her for a job he is currently working on and she gets to actually join real police work as she wanted. However she never counted on how she'd feel when she meets Connor and Leo and learns that they aren't the bad guys people think. Everything goes sideways when their captain gets overzealous and raids the business before they are ready. Amber and Riley stay together but the brothers end up in witness protection. But is the danger truly over for them? Or will they be following the brothers into protection themselves?

This is a great story that will draw you into the story from the first chapter on. The chemistry between them is sizzling hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.

In this book we meet Amber Sullivan, Leo & Connor Murphy, and Riley McCarthy. Amber and Riley have been a friends with benefits for a while now. Neither said they wanted a relationship and meant it when they first said it. When Riley goes undercover Amber realizes exactly what he means to her and she isn't in the mode to give him up. When she is called up to go undercover to investigate Leo & Connor they realize they are working the same case just different angles. Leo & Connor don't want any trouble they just want a chance to start over. When they meet Amber they think they might have just found it. When trouble comes calling though will any of them make it out alive or will they all find a HEA they never knew they could have?

This is another amazing hit by this author. It does have its ups and downs I really want to tell you about. However I don't want to ruin the story for any other readers. I will say this book will have you on the edge of your seat from the first word to the very end. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

When I'm looking for a well written story, with in-depth world building, that's suspenseful, dramatic, with touches of humor, and "on the edge of your seat" action with steamy romance with yummy male characters in the reverse harem genre, Cassie Cole's books is where I go looking. This story is about Amber Sullivan, a Boston Police Officer, who is stationed working in a "old school guys club" police station so no one takes her seriously. She finally gets a break to work undercover with her cop friend Riley who is her ex partner and part time lover. Riley, is already undercover investigating the Finnegan brothers and their strip club but has not found any shady business yet. Amber gets a job waitressing and catches the eye of Connor the older brother and then Leo. As she works there she becomes more personal with the brothers and gets closer to Riley. When she finds out the brothers are being blackmailed, what does Riley and Amber do? This is another wonderful story to read and review via Booksprout.

Amber is working as a police officer in Boston. But due to a sexist boss, she is always on ticket duty and overlooked for anything else. Her partner, both on and off the beat is undercover and she misses working alongside him. When she is called in to go undercover herself she is chomping at the bit. Her training is an afternoon and then that’s it. She’s dropped into the world of the Irish mafia and asked to get close to the two bosses, brothers Leo and Connor. She turns up to the interview and gets the job, starting as a waitress in one of their strip bars. Riley is behind the bar and furious that she is there and in danger, with no training compared to him. But Amber is good at her job and gets close to the brothers, only to find herself falling for both of them. But something isn’t sitting right. They treat her and all the other girls well and she’s finding far worse criminals on her radar. This is an excellent RH story that is interesting and enjoyable. Loved it!

This story had me captured from the very first page. It was written so wonderful that it just flowed so easily. It was easy to read and follow along with. It brought the city alive right before your very eyes.

The characters were amazing. Amber is a cop looking for a break. Tired of being a meter maid she jumps at the opportunity that comes her way thrusting her into danger. She is smart, brave, strong, and so much more. Her character was funny and very knowledgeable. They guys were all great and more well rounded individuals.

The undercover work had you turning that pages wanting to know what will happen. Will she be discovered? Will be safe? But the twists and turns kept you on the edge of your seat. It was a rollercoaster of emotions.

I loved the ending. It made it all more worthwhile. It was sweet and was just perfect. This is the third book I've read by this author and I’ll definitely be reading many more to come!! I absolutely loved this book!!

A MUST READ!!!

Amber and Riley shared a desk, then a friendship, then something more on a personal level. But in their career development, Riley got an undercover assignment and Amber was left stuck on meter duty. Fast forward several months and Amber gets tossed into the deep end of the same undercover op, only without any training.
Connor and Leo wanted a clean start when they faked their death and moved to America. Fate decided this was not going to happen and they were pulled back into the same crap they were running from. Then Amber walks in their door...maybe fate is making up for things...or maybe not.
Wonderful book! I feel head over heels for these characters! There are a few slower, introspective moments where you can catch your breath, but otherwise it is action packed, take your breath away, fantastic reading.

Amber's double life!
by sewsummore

Riley and Amber were undercover cops, searching for evidence of crimes committed by two Irishmen suspected of money laundering among other crimes. Connor and Leo had come to the states for a new beginning but were forced into laundering money by a much larger organized crime family. Although Amber and Riley had been an item in the past, it did not stop her from being attracted to the two Irishmen or feeling disloyal to Riley. When she discovered that the two men were being set up to take the fall, she realized just how deep her emotions were. I liked this story and the complex storyline that kept me interested until the end. Amber was a woman who loved sex, having more than one man fulfilling her needs was a win/win situation for her.

This Reverse Harem is a story about Riley, Connor, and Leo. What do they all have in common? That's easy its Amber. Amber and Riley are cops that have gone undercover. Leo and Connor are brothers who ran an Irish gang out in Belfast until they staged their own deaths. They move to America and change there last names. They turn up in Boston owning several "Gentleman's Clubs". Amber's handler for her undercover job set her up with a strippers background and send in a resume for her so she can get close to Leo and Connor. Riley's been undercover longer he's posing as a bartender. Leo and Connor really trust Riley so when he shows them that he knows Amber they trust his instincts and hire her on the spot. This was a story full of twists and turns. Some parts of it was unpredictable and some quite steamy. Because of some of the heat it was really difficult a little bit to follow who was saying what because of the way the scene was written. But by the time everything was done you could see where the action lead you. There was some deceit. For the good, and for the bad. Amber basically was the glue that held everyone together in the story. So great is a cover story is a stripper but she was a cop. That is the main part. As you’re in deep cover is usually sometimes it gets a little dicey with having relations with the target or target. So once everything was done and new villains were not seen and some are just blatant was a pretty decent book for me. No cliffhanger.

DNF set up frustrated me

In the first scene, the h goes into a dangerous neighborhood at night, alone, to meet with her undercover f*ck buddy just because she wants sex and apparently to complain about her boss to a sympathetic ear. That's the whole selfish reason she risks herself and her buddy's cover (and therefore potentially his life). If they were in a relationship it might have been almost forgivable, but she makes it clear the relationship is casual.

If that isn't enough to lose interest in the book, things like her saying she learned stealth in theatre class (huh?) and then shortly afterwards saying how everyone is looking at her just added to the ridiculousness.

I realize this is a reverse harem book so it's more about erotica than plot, but I'm not interested in sex that involves horrible people.

When Irish eyes are shining...

This is the first Cassie Cole book I've read, but it certainly won't be the last. The story and the characters are all solid and well developed. Amber is an under appreciated and under estimated police officer who is thrown into an undercover assignment without proper training. Riley, her boyfriend, unbeknownst to her, is working the same case.

While they both strive to uncover purported evidence of illegal activities taking place at the pub owned by two Irish brothers, they ultimately discover they and their employers are being set up. The scene gets excruciatingly tense, culminating in accusations of betrayal from Conner and Leo against Amber and Riley when the shit finally hits the fan.

Emotions run high throughout, and there definitely is an HEA, but you're going to need to read the whole story to get the whole story. Suffice it to say there's good guys, bad guys and a lot of good loving. I hope you will enjoy the Undercover Action as much as I did.

Action-packed 5 stars - From the opening chapter, the story will grab your interest. The premise of the story provided an action-packed plot with bits of mystery. Common in this author’s books is that good grasp of knowledge evident in the details and in the characters. Amber is a multi-dimensional character, took classes in pole dancing, practiced boxing and is very observant. Her lovers have their own personalities. Riley is protective, dependable and a good friend. Leo is tough, trying to get his boxing career off the ground and treats Amber as an equal. Connor is distrusting, is a good businessman and values Amber’s opinion. It’s a very good story and very steamy. [I received an advanced copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.]

This book has everything a reader could want and then some!
Great storyline, full of intrigue, steam, laughter, angst, suspense, love, a happily ever after ending, and best of all, wonderful characters full of life.
It’s the storyline that starts the book off right. It’s the characters that bring the book to brilliant colored life. Each character is so well placed and so well thought out that you become a partner in their lives. Always watching and waiting to see what they are going to say or do next.
The story grabs you from the first page and you just have to keep reading until the very last page. Never knowing about the surprises in store along the way, only able to hang on for the ride. So Worth It!!
It is an easy 7 STAR RATING from me.

Great story.
Loved this story it had me hooked from the start & the her bosses at her station made me want to smack them so was glad she got the Undercover job. When she got to the Shamrock I was a bit worried for her but then the way she got closer to Conner & Leo I was sad that it couldn't go any further once she had to give the Intel in & the mission ended with them being arrested especially as they had all fallen for each other. There was a twist in the story that I never saw coming & then when they found out who she was it didn't end well. Then months later I thought her & Riley would get their happy ever after there was another twist in the story. Definately recommend reading this book.

MFC Shrew

When the MFC is a shrew who has a chip on her shoulder and thinks she’s better than everyone, seems like a know-it-all, who doesn’t “read the room” - I DNF the book.

Amber is a tool. She’s not likable. She is a police officer yet walks around like a country bumpkin without a stitch of self preservation. She’s undercover. Yet acts like it’s a day at the movies. She’s ridiculous.

She’s recommended for the undercover job because her partner essentially misses her and then is shocked when she shows up?

I get it. This is a romance novel. It’s not supposed to make sense. But how this thing got 5000+ 5star reviews is beyond me. I kept hoping the MFC somehow tripped and fell down the stairs.

Amber has been stuck on meter maid duty for three months, since her new sergeant thinks women, especially those from vice, aren’t fit for anything else. Which makes it surprising when she is picked for an undercover assignment by her captain and thrown in with virtually no training. Her mission is to find information on the Finnegan brothers from Ireland. Also there is Riley, her old partner, already working at the strip club. The brothers are charming and protective and find it difficult to trust, making it equally difficult for Amber to figure out who to trust. When you are sent out undercover with little to no training, who can you trust? Amber just wanted a shot to show that she was better than a meter maid. The fact that she is a woman and came from vice, she was looked down on until she was finally given the chance to go undercover. People are not always what they seem or what you are led to believe they are. Loved the way that this story showed that we need to trust our hearts and stand up for what is right. Some people will do anything to jump ahead in the race of life. Great Story!
