This is the first book in the series with Leona as a strong, female protagonist. The story was a great read and I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

Leona Cynane is a cop, everyone in her family is a cop, but her confrontation with the supernatural responsible for manufacturing the deadly drug known on the streets as Minute Magic will change her life. Short, exciting read with plenty of action, and great characters. Great book!

Not so good

I could not relate with the attitude of the protagonist. We are told that her dad does not appreciate her, but I do not see any actions that supports it. In addition, I did not like her attitude. She acts like a man. I felt like this was a character that was originally a man and changed to a woman to sell books.

This is a really interesting book. It's short and sweet, took about 1.5hrs to read. Leona is a cop trying to save people by finding a drug manufacturer. It's 100s of years after the nuclear fallout and there are supernaturals in the world now. It flowed well and I believe it's going to be a really good series. I recommend it.

A okay story: a sad commentary on human politics. The main character comes across as conceited, obsessive, and arrogant. But like many bullies, she seems to be a coward at heart: submitting to an evil in private that see publicly chases. Perhaps a future part of the story will address that issue.

Easy-to-read. Entertaining. Haunting. Scary. Tragic. Twisted. Unpredictable. Wonderful characters.

Gripping distopian urban fantasy

Leona, the main character, embarks on an adventure with unimaginable consequences.
This is a great introduction to Leona and the series, gripping you from the begging.

good story, unexpected twist and turns, mostly a loner, but has strong family ties, and unexpected turn of events and a life..... sorry no spoilers, a must start series. Can't wait for the next book

I really enjoyed this book. Tough cop and leading lady, Leona comes from a family of cops. They are in a 'war' with supernaturals.
I will not say too much about the plot, because, you know, spoilers.
This is an easy read and a super starter for the rest of the series, which I will be reading.
