Simkins' memoir is both terrifying and wondrous. That she was able to overcome the emotional crippling of the abuse and manipulations from her childhood and teenage years, is nothing short of amazing. As a reader, I felt sad and angry at what happened to her in her younger years but delighted that she is now happy and secure in her life. Thanks to Simkins' willingness to publish her story with such transparency, I feel certain that those in similar abusive situations who read this book will have the courage to find their way out.
helped helped Divine Reversal is truly a wonderful display of how God can "beauty for ashes". I felt pain for a abused sensitive girl who wanted to be loved and appreciated. Then I felt joy in the woman who after trusting God found that and much more. Disliked the pastor who took advantage of her and the adults who did not come to her aid when they became aware of the abuse. I liked the people that made her realize that she was taken advantage of as a child and helped her to get over the shame and work for a better future.
A great recounting of how God can bring wholeness to brokenness, dignity to shame, and beauty from ashes. A beautiful story of God's mercy, protection and provision. Before I was even midway through, I was recommending this read to others.
