I find the series engaging and fun to experience. My only critique is that parts of the story from previous books are repeated needlessly. It feels like the authorcisxpaidxby the word and usesxit as filler. The books themselves including this one are good with plotctwists and turns. At the end of this one characters are more fully fleshed out.

Great series

I'm really enjoying this series with all the twists and turns and I even like the cliff hangers at the end of each book.
I have kindle unlimited so I can just jump from one to the next in the series without worrying about paying for it. If you don't have KU I highly recommend it to anyone who reads more than one or two books a month.

Great story...

I thought for a while this might be the last in the series, delighted to say it’s not. Great fun and seriously more-ish.

Awakening is a very apt name for Book 5 in this series, as our Main Character Karin Makos, finally gets to see the light. (Sorry, couldn’t resist!)
After Four Books of having to fight Shadows, and mysterious enemies from her past with the Eurynome code (And I am going to be very careful here so as to not give away spoilers), her and Nomiki get some good intel about how to help Karin in her battle with Dr Sasha and her plot to remake our Universe into something of her own liking.
Whilst this has been a pretty dark series, with lots of what could only be called, ‘Horror Scenes’, or at the very least, ‘Psychologically Terrifying’ (For the characters), as they are confronted with Shadow Like creatures that are actually solid, but really only 2 dimensional, and if you come into contact with one, they inhabit you, taking you over and turning you into a kind of Zombie called a ‘Lost’ (No brain eating, they just stumble around, attracted to light, kids and people), in this book, things get taken to a whole new level.
It is something that makes for a pretty scary and altogether terrifying living horror movie for basically everyone in that particular part of the galaxy. The only defence so far has been Karin, and her special abilities, granted by genetic mutation created by Project Eurynome that her and her Sister were a part of. Karin was part of Project Eos – the Dawn Goddess or Bringer of Dawn and has special light abilities. Her Sister, also part of the project, was Project Enyo, part of the Greek War Pantheon for Supreme Warrior, and that she is. When Nomiki unleashes, just make sure you are on the right side.
Since then, they have also found John, of Project Aries, a pet project of Dr Sasha, who is in the similar vein of Nomiki. He is built like a Tank, but moves like a graceful ballerina, and decimates like a nuclear weapon.
Throughout Awakening there are multiple story lines that run in all different directions, some of them are Political, some of them are Psychological Thriller, some of them just pure Action. But all of them are just utterly fascinating, intriguing and totally engrossing. This has been one of the most compelling, and captivating series I think I have ever read, and a lot of that comes down to a combination of some incredible storytelling, but also some absolutely stunning, and remarkable World/Galaxy building, in that the Author has put together so much detail for every one of her Characters, and not just the Main Characters, but ‘Every’ Character has such in-depth background and detail, there is so much complexity to this story, with the different Factions, all the different aspects of the Eurynome Code – all of the different Projects and Gods, and how each of them relate to different abilities, not to mention the concept of the Shadow Realm, then there are just the normal things in a Sci-Fi series, the Technology, such as Ships, Weapons etc, that the Author has gone into such intricate detail.
This amazing level of multi-faceted complexity with each aspect of the story, combined with all the different storylines, and such exceptional Characters, makes this easily one of the best series that is on the market today. It doesn’t matter what genre you are into, Action, Military, Galactic Empire, Genetic Engineering, Space Opera, Space Exploration, you can probably even argue a few others, it has such a huge range, there is something for everyone in this book, and series.
In this Fifth Book, Karin and the Crew of the Nemina, Marc, Soo-Jin, Cookie and her Sister Nomiki and their latest addition, the newly awakened and freed Eurynome Project Subject, John, have found some vital information about Karin’s past, and more importantly, information that could help her in her fight against Dr Sasha.
However, this means that they have to return to the one place they thought they never would, and also don’t ever want to, the Eurynome Labs on Earth. Commander Baik, who once locked up Karin, is now along for the ride, and there are some highly amusing moments with both Nomiki, and John, when he gets too close to Karin (Trust me, you will be laughing so hard you will have to put your device/book down).
That is the great thing about this book, the Author can have you riveted with an action scene one minute, and in tears with laughter the next, and in tears for a different reason several pages later. Her skill with words is exceptional, and you will not be able to put this down.
As the crew return to Earth, (and I seriously don’t want to give anything away, this story is just too good, this is easily the best book in the series so far), there is so many things that happen, that you are going to have your mind blown.
If you have been reading this series, then you are going to love this book, and if you haven’t read this series, first, what are you waiting for?? And secondly, it is worth it, just for this book, it is so good. Don’t miss this series!!
