Haruki Murakami (村上春樹) is a Japanese writer. His novels, essays, and short stories have been best-sellers in Japan and internationally, with his work translated into 50 languages and having sold millions of copies outside Japan. He has received numerous awards for his work, including the Gunzo Prize for New Writers, the World Fantasy Award, the Tanizaki Prize, Yomiuri Prize for Literature, the Frank O'Connor International Short Story Award, the Noma Literary Prize, the Franz Kafka Prize, the Kiriyama Prize for Fiction, the Goodreads Choice Awards for Best Fiction, the Jerusalem Prize, and the Princess of Asturias Awards.
Growing up in Ashiya, near Kobe before moving to Tokyo to attend Waseda University, he published his first novel Hear the Wind Sing (1979) after working as the owner of a small jazz bar for seven years. His notable works include the novels Norwegian Wood (1987), The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle (1994–95), Kafka on the Shore (2002) and 1Q84 (2009–10); the last was ranked as the best work of Japan's Heisei era (1989–2019) by the national newspaper Asahi Shimbun's survey of literary experts. His work spans genres including science fiction, fantasy, and crime fiction, and has become known for his use of magical realist elements. His official website cites Raymond Chandler, Kurt Vonnegut and Richard Brautigan as key inspirations to his work, while Murakami himself has named Kazuo Ishiguro, Cormac McCarthy and Dag Solstad as his favourite currently active writers. Murakami has also published five short story collections, including First Person Singular (2020), and non-fiction works including Underground (1997), an oral history of the Tokyo subway sarin attack, and What I Talk About When I Talk About Running (2007), a memoir about his experience as a long distance runner.
His fiction has polarized literary critics and the reading public. He has sometimes been criticised by Japan's literary establishment as un-Japanese, leading to Murakami's recalling that he was a "black sheep in the Japanese literary world". Meanwhile, Murakami has been described by Gary Fisketjon, the editor of Murakami's collection The Elephant Vanishes (1993), as a "truly extraordinary writer", while Steven Poole of The Guardian praised Murakami as "among the world's greatest living novelists" for his oeuvre.

من بين النساء اللاتي يلتقي بهن الرجل في حياته. هناك ثلاث فقط يكن ذوات معنى حقيقي بالنسبة له. لا أكثر و لا أقل

هكذا قال والده.

هل كانت نبوءة أم مجرد فلسفة فارغة أراد الأب أن يظهر فيها أمام ابنه في دور الحكيم؟! أيا كانت الإجابة فقد انشغل الابن بهذه العبارة و تحكمت في علاقاته مع كافة النساء اللائي عرفهن

في كل مرة يقابل فيها جونبي امرأة جديدة يسائل نفسه: هل هذه المرأة ذات معنى حقيقي بالنسبة لي؟ فقد كان يخشى أن يتسرع في المغامرة بما تبقى لديه من فرص قليلة.

في النهاية و بعد عدة أحداث غرائبية كعادة موراكامي يرسو جونبي على شاطئ الأمان و يعيد لنفسه الطمأنينة و الاتزان اللازمان لاستمرار الحياة بدون عد المحاولات.

هل ثلاث نساء رقم قليل أم تراه كثير..؟؟
العدد ليس مهماً على الإطلاق ..فالأمر يتجاوز ذلك ، فما يعنيك هو تلك اللحظة الفارقة التي تدرك بها أن أحداهن حقاً ذات معنى حقيقي بالنسبة لك ؟
عليك أن تتمسك بتلك اللحظة ، لا تدعها تنزلق منك بينما أنت غارقٌ بالتفكير ، تتساءل أحقاً هى ذات معنى حقيقي بالنسبة لي أم لا ؟؟...
إذ يتغير شيءٌ ما بداخلك ، يزعزع كيانك ، تدرك وجوده بالرغم من استغراقك بتأمل تفاصيل أخرى كثيرة ، قد يبدو خافتاً إلا أن صوته يصل اليك ، جلياً إلا إنك تعجز عن الإتيان باسم تطلقه عليه....
لمثل تلك المرأة تحمل لها بداخلك شعوراً خاصاً عميقاً ، يضيء بداخلك أماكن معتمة تجهلها لم تكن قبلاً قد تعرفت عليها..
وإذا ما افتقدتها ، فلتعلم بأنها ستفرض حضورها رغماً عن غيابها ، وتظل أصداء كلماتها يتردد بداخلك ، لن يفارقك إلى الأبد.....
قصة أخرى رائعة آسرة من "موراكامي" تستولي على قلبك منذ اللحظة الأولى من لقاءك بها ..❤

~قد اكون من أولئك الذين يتمسكون بكل ما لا قيمة له في الحياة و يتركون أشياء هامة حقا تنزلق من بين يدهم.

في حياة سريعة، استهلاكية الطابع و النمط
و أهم كلها احتمالات و فرص مع سؤال مركز:
هل ما عندي الآن هو الافضل؟
ام ان هناك احتمال ان اجد افضل من ذلك ؟
هل اتورط في علاقة عميقة او لمَ ذلك ربما لا تكون الفتاة المنشودة.؟!
ذلك اللايقين و هوس البحث عن شئ ما و حين تظن انك وصلت و تتنفست الصعداء .
تجد شئ يقول لك : لا انتظر ربما ليس ذلك افضل
متى يتوقف هذا اللهاث ؟
هل حين نقلل احتمالات نخفض من التوتر ؟
البطل وصل اخيرا الى قراره الخاص و قرر التوقف عن اللهاث لكن تمنيت لو حقق فكرة التوازن مثل ما قالت صديقته كيري .

من يصدق اقرأ له بعد اكثر من سنة من ابتعاد كلي لكن هذه مرة اقرا قصة قصيرة.
هل هي مفتاح للعودة للقراءة له ربما مرة اخرى؟
ام مرة و انتهت ؟
الحياة كلها احتمالات و سنبحث على التوازن 😉

"قد اكون من أولئك الذين يتمسكون بكل ما لا قيمة له في الحياة و يتركون أشياء هامة حقا تنزلق من بين يدهم"

قصة جميلة عن شاب اخبره والده ان كل رجل يقابل ثلاث نساء فقط يكن ذوات معنى حقيقى له وهذا ما جعله يركز فى مشاعره حتى لا يهدر الثلاث محاولات

Again... another amazing work by Haruki Murakami. I never expected less from him since the first time I read my first novel of him.

I'm only given 4/5 stars because I wished it was longer and explained more and deeply the characters, and

*Spoiler alert*

especially why the "second" woman left him without any notice.

For this, I tried to come up with a reasonable explanation. Well, she mentioned that she hated anything that isn't quite balanced, complete. It made her feel sick.

So my theory is, when Junpei was telling her his short story "The kidney shaped stone that moves everyday" , - and the story was unfortunately unfinished because he was struggling to find an ending for it, - well the "second" woman felt sick and dizzy. And that leaded to her leaving him and cutting ties with him forever.

Still, I'm not sure if this is the correct reason of why she left him. Or why she didn't reach out to him even after the short story was complete and published.

Maybe that's the point of this story.

I mean, sometimes we don't know why some relationships end without a notice or a "reason" that's discussed and communicated.

Sometimes, we meet people. We build a special relationship with them. That kind of relationship that you've never built with anyone, and which you're not sure you'll be building anything like it with anyone in the future.

And just like that, life happens. And nothing can save that relationship. And we return strangers again, just like in the beginning.

However, it's not exactly like in the beginning.

Because just like what Junpei felt with this "second" woman. He felt like she will always be living somewhere inside of him. She didn't truly disappeared or left him because he still can feel the "touch" -(not literally)- she left on him. And he still sometimes remembers her and thinks about her.


I'm also wondering if Junpei will ever find the "third" woman. Will he be courageous enough to open himself to a new deep relationship, when this time, she has to be the one ?


Anyway. That's all I want to share here.

أحيانا ونحن في طريقنا للبحث عن أنفسنا, نجدنا ضائعين بالفعل.
ولأننا مستمرين بالبحث لانعلم متى ضعنا بالفعل, وكيف يمكننا أن نجد حجر الأساس الذي يعيد ربط حياتنا على الطريق الصحيح.

هذه القصة تعتبر من المفضلات لدي, أحببتها للغاية, وتمنيت لو كانت أطول..
"جونبي" الصديق اللطيف الذي ألتقينا به في أحدى قصص "(حدائق موراكامي 1)", نجده هنا ايضاً ضائعاً لايمكنه العيش بطريقة صحية مناسبة له.
ولكن هنا علمنا سبب ضياعه, وعدم مقدرته على الأستقرار, والخوف الدائم من العد التنازلي الذي تنبأ به والده.

ولكن فجأة يجد فتاة تعشق الريح والحرية, وحجر غريب يشبه الكلية, يتحرك كل يوم دون توقف..
وبسببهما يتمكن "جونبي" من أيجاد نفسه. ويعيد لحياته الطمأنينة والأتزان الذي كان يبحث عنهما.

بالمناسبة, يمكنكم أيجاد نهاية هذه القصة في "(حدائق موراكامي 1)" في قصة "(فطيرة العسل)".

a short story by the controversial Haruki Murakami. A nicely written story as usual. The absurd part with some supernatural element was added as a story within a normal story. I always look for any clues of misogyny in Murakami's writings but couldn't find one in this one. so, I liked it but because it didn't stimulate much thinking in me, I am giving it 3 stars.
