Similar to the first volume this was a great companion to the show Jim Henson's The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance on netflix
this volume explains a story/backstory of one of the side characters from the show. I found the story was good however i found that sometimes it felt like the comic was missing panels. it felt like i needed extra pages hear and there as times i did not know how charters got iteams or ended up places in the next panel, this took me out of the story.
but overall it was a nice little story to go with the show
if you like the dark crystal i would highly recommend
Jim Henson's The Dark Crystal Age of Resistance: The Journey Into The Mondo Leviadin
Story by Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews Written by Matthew Erman Illustrated by Jo Migyeong
My Dark Crystal comic book journey is complete.
This final book is the third of the mini series set in the timeline of the Age of Resistance.
The Journey into the Mondo Leviadin presents an adventure of Gelfling clans, adventure on the high seas and the origin of All-Maudra Mayrin. Action, romance, strange creatures, rebellion, piracy, trust and respect and responsibility. It's all here with some lovable character and beautiful artwork stunningly presented in this gorgeous oversize hardcover.
From The Creation Myths, through to The Power of The Dark Crystal, then Beneath the Dark Crystal, and finally back to the time of the Age of Resistance it's been an incredible journey in Jim Henson's fantasy world.
If you are a fan of The Dark Crystal film or the Netflix series then chances are you'll enjoy the comics.
Finishing strong with this last mini series. ✨✨✨✨✨5 stars
I would love more of these mini adventurers that introduce us to the supporting cast of Netflix’s The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance (2019), or the main movie.
The art is beautiful, and the writing is quickly paced so that you are never bored, but without resorting to unnecessary action to keep you engaged.
An unfortunate error that was never caught before publishing is the misspelling of Ha'rar as Har'ar, which is glaringly noticeable in how it alters the pronunciation of the gelfling capital. The series makes up for this error by implementing my all-time favourite battle cry in the second volume, which is "AVENGE MY CABBAGES!"
It was very interesting to see the All Maudra in her youth, although I feel like her character is very different than in the show. I wish this comic would have elaborated on more of her life and reign. I would also have liked to know more about her late mother, since she was mentioned a lot, but without much explanation.
Overall, it was a good comic and it gives a better look into the world of Thra! I enjoyed seeing new sides to Thra, with many new creatures.
As all Dark Crystal books before, a miracle. A dream of a Book. I thankfully received a copy here in Austria, Europe, counting it a veritable miracle to have it in my hands late but anyway. Printrd in China, then sent to USA and finally have it here in my hands in times like these makes it really feel very special.
I really enjoy visiting Jim Hension's world of the Dark Crystal. Very nostalgic for me, and the work that has been done to flesh it out is very fun to read about. This installment give insight into Gelfling culture, and that it is not always a peaceful and cooperative "nation". Fun, silly, the art is cute.
I have so many questions. The world of Thra just expanded more because now we see unique Boblings (sea podlings) and mutated arathim creatures. How did these evolve? Did the previous All-Maudra perish by the Mondo Leviadin or was she mutated into another creature? I need more Sifan and Vapran adventures. But also, I think it’s odd why Mayrin doesn’t approve of Sifan clan in the future. I need more lore. Overall a fun graphic novel.
