4.5 out of 5. Of course it cuts off right before the big battle. The main thing I didn’t like was the time skip fast forward, I always hate it when authors mess with time in books. While the big battle is in the next book there was plenty of battling in this one while the gym leaders and Ruby and Sapphire try to stop Kyogre and Groudon from meeting up to battle and destroy the region. Didn’t care to much for the thrown in side story mixed in with awakening Raquayza but I knew that legendary Pokémon had to be awakened since it’s the third legendary Pokémon in this trio that was released together.
More of Ruby and Sapphire's adventures, and in this one, we get to see a ton more character building for our two protagonists! I loved how their individual goals were each shaped by the same formative event from earlier in their childhoods (they're only 10 years old, it really is only slightly earlier in their childhoods). The core plot surrounding Team Magma and Aqua and their respective aims to use the legendaries for their own gain ramps up in these chapters, and it was neat seeing all the various characters and storylines converge for the upcoming finale. I found myself being a bit surprised by how much I enjoyed Ruby's character in these chapters; after seeing how high and mighty he'd been thus far, it was a bit refreshing to see Wallace give him the reality check he so sorely needed (especially after chasing Feebas away, poor FeeFee). I found the battles showcased here to be a bit lacking compared to previous chapters, as the latter half of this omnibus was more interested in setting the stage for the climax rather than any specific details about the battles. The main plot is entertaining, but I still wish there was more time and focus spent on what I consider to be the real strength of this series. Also, I wish the chapters gave any amount of detail to the contests. So far, we've just skipped over the actual contests themselves and just cut to when Ruby's already won them. All that being said, I'm very excited to see how this arc wraps itself up, especially with only 3 days left before the deadline to Ruby and Sapphire's competition.
Another omnibus down! This one starts off with Ruby and Sapphire reuniting because their masters (2 of the gym leaders) are trying to figure out how to stop Kyogre and Groudon from awakening.. Anyway, they get in a huge fight when Sapphire realizes that Ruby can indeed battle (and well at that!) BUT he doesn’t want to help save Hoenn… Eventually, the legendaries do get awaken, Ruby and Sapphire have to train to finish this huge battle, and we find out both Ruby and Sapphire’s intertwining pasts… Which leads to a very cute heart to heart!! Which shocked me because romance isn’t really a part of Pokémon so far.. But I’m all for it! A little romance never hurt anyone LOL. (Also, I would love if Ruby ditched that weird hat sock he wears haha). Anyway, this volume ends on a cliffhanger! A big one!!! This arc ends next volume!!!
I found these books about a year ago now and I absolutely love them for how nostalgic they make me feel. They bring to life the story of the games I grew up playing and loving. I wasn’t as big of a fan of this story line, although it definitely got better by the end, however I can’t wait to start into the next one and have the original characters that I love come back once again. They seem like they would be childish but seem to be written more for a general audience appealing to all ages. Although the vocabulary and language used to describe events is a little difficult for kids.
This was excellent! Ruby and Sapphire finally hit their strides as protagonists and the supporting cast was extra cool. I see the writing in this one is much more intricate than what's come before and every chapter leads to something. Very much condensed One Piece-esque writing. I LOVE FeeFee and Sapphire's love confession leading directly into the flashback was beyond. Excited to see how this all ends.

The whole story with the legendaries in this arc is the best but still, there are so many things going on at the same time and at some point it gets too much.
Volume 7 of the Pokémon Adventures Collector's Edition nearly wraps up the Ruby & Sapphire arc of the manga. Nearly, because we're not quite there yet. The whole volume works towards the end, but it's unfortunate that this story arc does not fully wrap up until volume 8. It is really fun however to see contect from Emerald version adapted into this novel, including Wallace becomming the champion of the Hoenn region and the awakening of Rayquaza. To me however, it kind of felt like a drag because you know the ending is so close, yet not there. This aside it is a great volume with plenty of nice moments and a great continuation of the manga.

The adventure continues in the Hoenn region with our heroes, Ruby and Sapphire. Chaos is in progress as Team Aqua and Team Magma are in the progress of destroying Hoenn with the legendary Pokémon, Kyogre and Groudon, with their respective orbs. In the end, the Hoenn gym leaders are trying to fight off the legendary Pokémon before they destroy Hoenn, however, they were unsuccessful. Their only hope is with Ruby and Sapphire; moreover, by the end of the volume, two huge shocking twists happen and it may cause massive ramifications later.
