Enjoyed It

Inspiring and encouraging. I thoroughly enjoyed this Chicken Soup title. I love the unexplainable, and this book had excellent stories of miracles and mysterious happenings.

I usually love the miracles and divine intervention branch of the Chicken Soup for the Soul books. And I really BELIEVE in miracles and divine intervention, so I'm always so open to these stories and excited to read them and gain more hope, faith, and inspiration.

However, a few of these stories were simply unbelievable. The one that sticks out in my mind was of the woman who swears she saw writing appear on her bathroom mirror while she was taking a shower but didn't have time to take a picture of it...but then it happened AGAIN a few days later and this time she had time to take a picture before it disappeared, so she did. (Why not get a video of the letters "appearing" on your bathroom mirror? Wouldn't that be cooler/more believable?) The best part was that she ended the story saying her husband doesn't like it when she brings it up--because he doesn't believe her, either. LOLOLOL

There were a couple of other stories like this, and it just made this book so hard to take seriously.

There were some uplifting stories, though, and for that, I gave the book a 3.

My favorite quote from this book is on page 153. “ Was it a miracle or a coincidence? But isn’t a miracle really just a glorious coincidence? We tend to think of miracles as great biblical events, but I believe that we should appreciate those tiny gifts that come our way. Seek simple miracles, and you will always catch a glimpse of heaven.”
Then my favorite story was on page 304 called “ A Saturday Night in Central City”.
I gave this book 3 stars!

I may be a little impartial because my story, written by my friend Amanda Flinn is #68.  While my own story uplifted me during a difficult time, I also found that reading through the entire book of other's people's stories of miracles and divine intervention to be incredibly healing.  I recommend this for anyone, but it may especially be helpful for those that are walking through grief.

Read this because I needed to give it a rating for something else. Most of the stories in the first section just felt like promos for the author/singer/whatever their career was—just trying to get their Name out there. So most of the stories felt fake or forced. Just didn’t enjoy the majority of them.
