Daisy Sunshine writes stories that make your heart beat faster. She takes us to the edge of our emotions. Between friendship, betrayal, love, passion, suspense and drama, each page is an invitation to thrill, feel, dream and fall in love — emotions that linger long after you turn the last page
When Margarida Almeida was young, she spent her vacations meeting friends from all around the world. Many struggled to pronounce her name, so one day she smiled and said, “Just call me Daisy.” Because of her constant laughter and the light she brought into every moment, they began calling her Daisy Sunshine. The name stayed with her — not as a persona, but as a reflection of who she naturally is.
Born in Lisbon, Daisy has always been fascinated by people, emotions, and the invisible threads that connect us. Although she studied Business Management, storytelling has always been her true passion. In her writing, she explores love, hope, heartbreak, and the beauty hidden in everyday moments. Her characters feel real — imperfect, emotional, and alive.
When she isn’t writing, she enjoys spending time with loved ones and finding inspiration in simple gestures and shared laughter.
It's Twilight's first day at Unicorn University. Her parents and older sisters loved their time at the unicorn training school, but she's much shier and quieter than the rest of her family. She's also just gotten her magic ability, turning invisible, but she can't control it at all. She's afraid she just doesn't belong at Unicorn University.
Any time an author's name seems too conveniently linked to the subject of the book I'm a little wary. It usually means the series is going to be cranked out by a team of ghost writers as fast as possible, and the quality is ok but not superb. That said, this was ok. I like that this book shows that pretty much everyone has insecurities and anxieties about fitting in at a new place and with a new group. I also liked how Twilight and her new classmates helped each other out after they realized how they were all feeling. As a shy introvert myself, I found Twlight's feelings pretty extreme. She's not just a little shy, she's way at the end of the spectrum on the "most-likely-to-become-a-hermit" end. It's a bit painful at times. She does make some progress, but I think she might need to see a unicorn therapist. This feels borderline between lower grade and middle grade, mostly because of the length.
Notes on content: No language issues. No sexual content. One unicorn briefly mentions having 2 dads. No violence. As mentioned, Twilight has some serious anxiety issues that she doesn't seem to be getting much adult help with.
Twilight is about to start her first day at Unicorn University and she's really, really nervous. She's the third and youngest sibling in her family and both her sisters excelled at Unicorn University. But Twilight is so different from them. She's really shy and introverted and meeting new people just makes her beyond nervous. On top of that, she's just discovered her magical ability, invisibility, but she has no control over it yet! This means that whenever she's nervous or anxious about something, she just automatically starts to literally fade from view until she's invisible. She doesn't become visible again until someone notices that she's missing. It's tradition to take a class picture at the end of the first day of school. Will Twilight be able to turn visible again before the day's end?
Twilight is extremely shy, to the point where she is awkward in meeting new friends and contemplates packing up from Unicorn U, which is also a boarding school. I think this would be a good read for students who struggle, like Twilight does, with being shy and introverted. I like how she learns from her mistakes and tries to change from them. She also meets some pretty good friends who show her that they too struggle with being anxious and nervous in meeting new friends as well, and that in fact, she's not entirely alone in what she feels.
My 6 year old liked it. I found it hard to make myself finish reading it to her. It is a book for younger readers but I found it to be pretty dull and very predictable.
