Interesting personal narrative of a guy that went off on his own at a young age and became gainfully employed as a writer. Amusing ways to save money. Some parts drag, but worth reading as a good example of the mid 1800s travel writing from a not too famous person. His book is mentioned somewhere in the Twain Autobiography and it has some similarities to the interesting life he lead.
